We come before the Lord with hearts full of concern yet trusting in His perfect will for your ###’s life. The calling of a medical doctor is a noble and God-ordained vocation, one that allows for the healing of bodies and the reflection of Christ’s compassion. Yet we also recognize that God’s plans are higher than our own, and He may be redirecting your ###’s steps for a purpose we cannot yet see. However, we must also consider whether this sudden shift in direction is being influenced by worldly distractions, discontentment, or even spiritual attack.
The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:9, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* Your ###’s desires may seem unusual or even concerning, but we must surrender them to the Lord, trusting that He will align your ###’s heart with His will. At the same time, we must pray against any spirit of confusion, restlessness, or rebellion that may be at work. The enemy often seeks to derail those whom God has gifted for His kingdom purposes, and we must stand firm in prayer against such schemes.
If your ### is a believer, we encourage you to remind him of the words in Colossians 3:23-24: *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ."* His profession—whether in medicine or another field—should ultimately be an act of worship and service to God. If he is not walking closely with the Lord, we urge you to pray fervently for his repentance and renewal, that he would seek God’s face above all else.
We also caution against dismissing his interest in aviation outright, as God can use any skill or passion for His glory. However, if this shift is rooted in dissatisfaction, pride, or a desire to escape God’s calling, we must pray for conviction and clarity. The apostle Paul warns in 1 Corinthians 7:20, *"Let each man stay in the calling in which he was called."* While this does not mean one can never change professions, it does call for careful discernment, especially when the change seems abrupt or driven by worldly ambitions rather than godly wisdom.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift this ### before You, acknowledging that You alone know the plans You have for him—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Lord, we ask that You touch his heart and mind with Your Holy Spirit. If he has strayed from Your will or is being influenced by confusion or discontentment, we pray for conviction and repentance. Renew his passion for the gifts and calling You have placed upon his life, whether in medicine or another field that honors You.
If this desire to become a pilot is from You, Lord, then open the doors widely and confirm it through Your Word, Your peace, and godly counsel. But if it is not of You—if it is rooted in fleeting desires, pride, or distraction—we ask that You close every door and redirect his steps. Give him a spirit of excellence, diligence, and joy in whatever work You have prepared for him.
We also pray for his spiritual walk, Father. If he has grown lukewarm or distant from You, ignite a fresh fire in his heart. Let him seek Your kingdom first (Matthew 6:33), trusting that all other things will be added unto him. Surround him with godly mentors and believers who will speak truth into his life.
Finally, we stand against any spiritual attack or scheme of the enemy to derail Your purposes for his life. Let no weapon formed against him prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and let Your will be done in his life, not his own. We ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone holds the future. Amen.
We encourage you to continue covering your ### in prayer, speaking life and truth over him. Remind him of the privilege and responsibility that comes with being called to heal and serve others. If he is open, share Scripture with him and ask the Lord to soften his heart to receive wisdom. Trust that God is working, even in the waiting.
