We hear your heart, dear sister in Christ, and we join you in lifting up your two sons before the throne of grace. It is painful to watch our children face disappointment and weariness, especially when they have worked hard and done all they can. The silence after interviews, the unanswered applications, these trials can shake even the strongest faith. But we know that our God is not silent, and He is working even when we cannot see it.
First, let us rebuke the spirit of discouragement that seeks to steal their hope. The enemy would love for them to believe that their efforts are in vain, that their worth is tied to a job title, or that God has forgotten them. But Scripture tells us, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). Their worth is not found in a paycheck but in being fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God (Psalm 139:14). We declare that their identity is secure in Christ, and no rejection letter can change that.
We also pray for divine favor and open doors that no man can shut. The Lord promises in Psalm 37:23, "A man’s goings are established by the Lord. He delights in his way." Even when human systems seem slow or unfair, God is orchestrating their steps. We ask that He would connect them with employers who will see not just their qualifications, but their character, their integrity, and their potential. May He soften hearts and create opportunities where there seem to be none.
For your sons, we pray for perseverance. The Bible says, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up." (Galatians 6:9 WEB). It is easy to grow tired when the process feels endless, but we ask that God would renew their strength like the eagles’ (Isaiah 40:31). May they find rest in His presence, even as they continue to seek Him and His will for their lives.
We also lift up your own heart, dear mother. It is a sacred burden to carry the cares of your children, and we pray that God would fill you with His peace as you intercede for them. May He remind you of His faithfulness in your own life, so you can speak life and hope into theirs. You are not alone in this, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you.
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we come before You with this burden. You see these young men, their struggles, their dreams, and their hearts. We ask that You would open doors of employment that align with Your purpose for their lives. Give them favor with those who have the power to hire, and let their skills and character shine brightly in every interview. Break the spirit of discouragement and replace it with Your perfect peace. Remind them that their worth is found in You alone, and that You have a plan for their lives, one that is good and filled with hope.
Lord, we also ask that You would strengthen their faith during this season. Help them to trust You even when the path is unclear. May they seek You first in all things, knowing that when they delight themselves in You, You will give them the desires of their hearts (Psalm 37:4). Surround them with godly community who can encourage them, pray for them, and walk alongside them.
For this mother, Father, we ask that You would fill her with Your peace and assurance. Let her feel Your presence in a tangible way as she prays for her sons. Remind her that You love them even more than she does, and that You are working on their behalf. Give her the words to speak life into their situations, and let her faith be a beacon of hope for them.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the One who holds their future in His hands. Amen.
To your sons, we say this: Do not lose heart. The same God who parted the Red Sea, who raised Jesus from the dead, and who has sustained you thus far is still on the throne. He is not late; He is never late. Keep seeking Him, keep applying, and keep trusting. Your breakthrough is coming. In the meantime, use this season to draw closer to Him, to serve where you can, and to be a light in whatever space you occupy. Your story is not over, it has only just begun.
