Pray for my sons

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Lord, please hear me. Please guide my son through his instability. Please hold your arms open to him. He has a wonderful partner and beautiful children. He needs to open his heart and his mind to love each of them. Please help him be the father and partner that he should be. Please Lord, help my youngest son with his prior faults. He is asking for you and needs you so badly. We all need you. Please Lord, help my oldest step-son with his recovery. Please Lord, help my whole family and take us in your arms to guide us to you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen

We lift up your sons and your entire family before the throne of grace, seeking the Lord’s mercy and guidance. Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your divine intervention in each of their lives. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Lord, we pray that You would draw each of these young men back to the foundation of faith and truth that You have laid before them.

First, we address the situation with your son who has a partner and children. Father, we ask that You break through any hardness of heart or instability that may be keeping him from fully embracing his role as a husband and father. The Bible is clear in Ephesians 5:25 that husbands are to "love their wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it." This is a high calling, and we pray that he would seek Your strength to love sacrificially, as Christ loves the Church. We must also address the reality of his situation, if he is in a relationship outside of marriage, this is not aligned with Your design. Scripture warns in Hebrews 13:4, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." We pray that he would honor You by either committing to marriage or repenting and seeking Your will in this area. Father, soften his heart to see the beauty of Your plan for family and the importance of leading his household in righteousness.

For your youngest son, who is seeking You, we rejoice in his cry for help! Your Word promises in Jeremiah 29:13, "You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart." Lord, we pray that You would meet him in his brokenness and reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way. Help him to lay down his past faults at the foot of the cross and walk in the newness of life that You offer. Remind him that in 1 John 1:9, You promise, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Strengthen him to turn away from sin and toward You, the author and perfecter of his faith.

For your oldest stepson, who is in recovery, we ask for Your healing touch. Addiction is a fierce battle, but we know that nothing is impossible for You. Your Word declares in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Lord, we pray that he would lean on You for strength and find freedom from the chains that bind him. Surround him with godly support and remind him that in You, there is hope for a future. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."

Finally, for your entire family, we pray that You would draw each member closer to You. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." Lord, we ask that You would unify this family under Your love and truth. Help them to forgive one another, to bear each other’s burdens, and to walk in the light of Your Word.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of rebellion, instability, or addiction that may be at work in this family. We declare that in the name of Jesus, these strongholds are broken, and Your peace and righteousness will reign in their lives. We pray that each of them would come to know You more deeply and walk in the purpose You have for them.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of lifting up this family to You. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your promise that "if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us" (1 John 5:14). May Your will be done in each of their lives, and may they experience the fullness of Your love and grace. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We feel the weight of your heart for your family, and the love that shines through your prayer is unmistakable. It is not a small thing to carry hope for your children and grandchildren, and to keep bringing them to the Lord with such persistence.

What stands out to us is that you are praying not just for your son’s personal stability, but that he would open his heart and mind to love the family already in front of him, his partner and his children. Sometimes, when a person is inwardly unstable, he closes off from the very relationships that could anchor him, not because he doesn't care, but because he feels too chaotic inside to engage them well. That does not make it easier to watch, but it might help you see his distance less as rejection of his family and more as a signal of the turmoil he is carrying. Your steady prayers are quietly pushing against that.

For your younger son, who is asking for God and knows his need, we hope you can hold onto the simple truth that God is never slow to meet someone who genuinely seeks Him. That raw, honest asking is often the place real change begins.

Lord, we lift up this mother’s family to You. Draw her struggling son to solid ground. Quiet his mind and give him the courage to turn toward his partner and children rather than away. For her youngest, meet him right where he is, and bring safe people around him who will point him to You. Grant healing to her stepson in his recovery, and steady provision for the whole family. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Such a cry as this ascends not to a deaf heaven, but to the very throne of grace where the love of God is an eternal flame. It is well that your heart is poured out for your sons and your household, for true love is a spark of that divine fire which never can be quenched. You speak of instability, alas, it is a canker that ruins usefulness and makes the soul a wanderer. Yet even there, divine love abounds and calls the unstable home. The love of God towards your sons is not a mere passive pity; it is a strong, pursuing affection that knows how to burn with a holy jealousy until their cold hearts are warmed again. He is not willing that any of His own should remain chaff, driven by every wind.

For your son who has a partner and children, I would remind you that the truest love a father can show is to open his heart first to the love of God. If he loves them not with the love of a renewed heart, he is but a stranger to that deep, unfathomable abyss of a father’s true affection. Let your prayer be that the love of Christ may constrain him. Only that love excels all other, surpassing the love of women, more intense and more enduring. When a man knows he is loved of the Lord, then his heart is unlocked to cherish his own household with a holy fidelity. God does not tolerate sin, yet His love laments the wanderings of His children, and He chides us for our coldness only because He values our love so highly. You long for your son to be a true father and partner, then pray that he may first be a true child of God, for all other loves are but ragged streams that must flow from that fountain.

As for your youngest, when you say he is asking and needs the Lord so badly, take comfort in this: that very sense of need is the dawn of mercy. The love of Christ is a wonder which passes knowledge, and He delights to take a soul that is empty and faint and draw it to His honeycomb of grace. It is one of the choicest forms of devotion to tell the Savior how you love Him; so let your son be encouraged to turn those pangs of need into words, to rehearse His deeds of grace even from a bleeding heart. God’s love is not a mere doctrine, it is a banquet where the feeble and the hungry may eat and drink and find all their store in Him. Let nothing lie untouched; let him seek to know that love in its full measure.

For your eldest step-son walking the weary road of recovery, wonder not if the path be slow. Strength is given in degrees, yet each increase is a new claim on your affection and a new witness of God’s faithful power. The Lord is strong in resolve, strong in love, and He will not abandon the soul that is learning to trust Him even when strength is small. The love of Jesus to His chosen made Him bind Himself to them with an everlasting covenant; He pledges His own fidelity to those who are struggling to stagger to their feet. You are right to cry out for your whole family, this is the very echo of Christ’s own heart, for He longs that all the children of a believing household should be bound together in love with the same valiant Hero, Jesus.

Remember, the love of a human parent, deep as it is, is but a shallow pool compared with the ocean of God’s unfathomable love to His children. He knows what fatherhood truly means. Lay hold of this, and let your prayer be not a wailing of desperation but the confident appeal of a child to a Father whose love abides and never fails, though earth’s old pillars bow. He will fan that spark in your sons until it becomes a flame. Only give your love full exercise in contemplating His, and you shall see Him make the unstable stable, the seeking find, and the recovering stand in His presence, bound by ties of mutual love.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The prayer of a mother for her children is a mighty force, rising like incense before the throne of God. You cry out for your son who is unstable, pleading that he might open his heart to the partner and children the Lord has given him. Remember what the Apostle says: Christ “by Himself purged our sins.” That same cleansing power can break the chains of restlessness and self-absorption. He came to “preach deliverance to the captives,” and no captivity of the soul is beyond His reach. Your son’s instability is not greater than the strong and mighty Lord who battles for him. Yet do not simply wait for change; often the divine command is for us to take the first step toward love. If your son delays embracing his family until they somehow earn it, he loses the crown that comes from initiating reconciliation. Speak to him gently but plainly: now is the day to pour out affection on his partner and children, to be the father and husband God designed him to be. The Lord who sees all will honor that turning.

Your youngest son feels the weight of former faults and is reaching out for the Lord. This is a sacred moment. When Nathanael stood amazed that Christ saw him under the fig tree, he heard the promise: “Thou shalt see greater things than these.” So it is with a contrite heart. Your son’s very longing for God is proof that divine light is piercing the darkness. Encourage him to search the Scriptures earnestly, not casually, and to pray with fervor. The love of money or any wicked desire may have clouded his sight like an evil humor on the eye, but earnest prayer and repentance can clear that mist. He must not grow slack, for the Lord who forgave the paralytic and baptized all nations stands ready to forgive him fully and restore his vision. And for your step-son’s recovery, bear this trial with thanksgiving. Remember Job: after his noble wrestling, God restored all things and more. So too, when we suffer loss or illness with patience, the reward is greater, even before the healing comes. The Lord may be proving his faith, and in due season, you will see restoration.

Your whole family needs the embrace of God, and He is able to gather each one. Christ first came to save His own people, but His mercy overflows to all who call on Him. Do not let any enmity linger among you; be swift to reconcile any rifts, so that when you bring them to the altar of prayer, no obstacle remains. You have seen their struggles, just as the Lord saw Nathanael beneath the fig tree before a word was spoken. Trust that He sees them now, and His care is greater than yours. Continue to intercede, and let your own life be a lamp of steady faith. The Son who sat down at the right hand of Majesty after purging our sins will not grow weary in showing compassion. Hold fast, and you will yet testify to greater things in their lives.
