Prayers for my family

I lost my job ### yrs ago and since I wasn’t able to find a job I started doing consultant work. The income was not sufficient and to make up the shortfall I wad taking money from my retirement savings and selling what I could. My husband is ###yrs older and my ### yr old mother also lves with us. Needless to say I’m at the last bit of savings and have had little to no work for more than a year now. I’m terrified and don’t know what to do. Please pray for me to get work enough to cover our bills to stay in our home. I’m so tired of this burden and don’t know what to do as everything falls on my shoulders. I have been praying consistently to our father snd am still believe he will answer at the right time. Bless you all for your prayers.

We have heard your heart and the heavy burden you have been carrying for these years, and we are joining with you in prayer before our Father. To lose steady work, to watch savings dwindle while trying to provide for a husband and an elderly mother in your home, and to feel that everything falls on your shoulders is an exhausting and terrifying place to be. We want you to know you are not alone and you are not forgotten by God.

We are encouraged that you have been praying consistently to our Father and that you still believe He will answer at the right time. That kind of enduring trust honors Him. Scripture reminds us to cast all our worries on Him, because He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and to cast your burden on Yahweh and He will sustain you, Psalm 55:22. Jesus Himself invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. He sees your weariness and your faithfulness in caring for your husband and your mother, which is a beautiful honoring of family that is pleasing to the Lord.

We also want to gently share something important about prayer that we noticed. You mentioned praying to our Father, but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are forgiven and can come boldly before God in prayer. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to bring every prayer in His name, for He is our mediator.

We also want to speak peace over your fear about provision. Our Father knows what you need before you ask. He tells us, But seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33, and My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19. He has not promised that the path will be without hardship, but He has promised to be with you and to provide. We also hear how tired you are of carrying this alone. God never intended for you to carry it alone. Even as you honor your marriage and care for your mother, we encourage you to share this burden openly with your husband, with your church family, and with trusted wise counsel, asking God for wisdom as He promises, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. There may be practical helps, counsel, and resources in your local body of believers that God wants to use.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear sister, her husband, and her mother to Your throne of grace. You know the length of this trial, the loss of work, the consulting work that has not been enough, the retirement savings that is nearly gone, and the fear of losing their home. Lord, You see her weariness and her faithfulness. We ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding upon her heart, as she has made her requests known to You, Philippians 4:6-7. Provide for their daily needs, open doors for steady and sufficient work, and give her favor with employers and clients. Grant her wisdom to steward what remains, to find wise counsel, and to see Your hand of provision. Sustain this family, guard their home, and let them feel Your sustaining arms underneath them. Strengthen her husband and give them unity and hope together as they wait on You. Help them to keep seeking You first, trusting that You will supply every need. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep casting your cares on Him each day, to stay rooted in His Word, and to let others in your church come alongside you. We are continuing to stand with you, believing that God hears, that He is faithful, and that He will answer in His perfect time and way, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28.

We have read your note several times and we hear how heavy this has become for you. Carrying the financial burden for your husband and your mother, watching savings run down after years of piecing together consultant work, and facing more than a year with little to no work would leave anyone exhausted and afraid. It makes sense you feel tired and terrified about keeping your home.

We are thankful you have kept praying and holding on to trust that our Father hears you. You have not been forgotten, and the weight you feel is not unseen by Him.

When everything falls on your shoulders it can help to not carry the practical decisions alone anymore. One steady next step could be to sit down soon with someone local who can look at the whole picture with you - a workforce center or career center for work leads, and a trusted nonprofit housing or financial counselor who can talk through options for your bills and staying in your home before the last savings are gone. If you have a pastor or church family nearby, letting them know the specific pressure points you are facing can also open doors for prayer, counsel, and community resources.

We are praying for you, for your husband and your mother, and for wisdom for each decision ahead.

Father, we bring this family to You in Jesus' name. You see their needs, their home, and the weariness she feels. Give her daily strength, clear wisdom for work and provision, and peace as she waits on You. Surround them with good help and remind them they are not alone. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry has been heard and your burden has been laid before the Lord with tender compassion. To carry the weight of a household, an aged husband and an aged mother, with savings failing and work withheld for more than a year, is indeed a heavy burden, and we do not make light of your weariness and fear.

Scripture tells us that every man shall bear his own burden, and yet also to bear ye one another's burdens. In this way we desire to bear this burden with you in prayer, not thrusting it back upon you alone, but coming alongside you to bring it to the throne of grace. You have done well to continue praying to our Father and to believe that He will answer at the right time. Keep that childlike confidence even when He seems to frown, as Job did when he fell down and worshipped in his ashes and sinned not nor charged God foolishly.

Our Savior says, do not be anxious about your temporal affairs, not because prudence is needless, but because anxiety unfits you to meet the difficulty and never yet brought grist to the mill or meal to the barrel. Your anxiety cannot provide work or keep your home, but your Father knows what you have need of. Christ says, My yoke is easy and My burden is light. The burden of life remains heavy, but His yoke and His burden, borne with Him and learned of Him, become light because He bears it with you and strengthens you with all strength in your inner man.

Remember Job, whose glory was fresh and whose bow was renewed in his hand, yet who was brought low to ashes and boils and loss. The Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed, and at the last gave him twice as much. Our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery when God has gotten His end in them, which is to show His faithfulness and to defeat the enemy of your soul.

We pray now for you and your household.

Our Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation, we bring this daughter before Thee. Thou seest her fear, her tiredness, her empty hands after long labor and selling what she could. Thou knowest her husband and her mother who dwell under her roof. Have mercy and provide work sufficient to cover her bills and to keep her home, according to Thy wisdom and goodness. Give her daily bread and daily strength, guard her from fretfulness and despair, and teach her to cast all her care upon Thee, for Thou carest for her. Let Christ's yoke be easy upon her shoulders and make His presence her succor, that this burden may not crush her. Turn her captivity in Thy perfect time, and keep her trusting till then. Amen.

We will continue to remember you before the Lord, asking Him to open doors for honest work and to sustain you day by day till provision comes.

Lord Jesus, provide work for this one carrying so heavy a burden. Cover their bills, keep their home, and give them rest and peace, in Jesus' name. Amen.
