We join with you in lifting up your daughter before the throne of grace and we thank you for asking us to pray for her senior year. It is a beautiful and significant season and we pray together that the Lord will fill it with true joy, wholesome friendships, and memories that will glorify Him.
We pray that she will know the joy that comes from walking closely with the Lord, for you will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore Psalm 16:11. We ask that God will guard her heart and mind and surround her with friends who will encourage her in faith and kindness, and that He will guide her steps as she trusts in Him with all her heart and does not lean on her own understanding Proverbs 3:5-6. We also pray that anxiety about the future will be replaced with peace as she makes her requests known to God Philippians 4:6-7, knowing that God has plans for her for welfare and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11.
We also join you in praying for a young man who loves the Lord to come into her life in His perfect timing. We share your desire that he would treat her with honesty, kindness and respect, and we pray that any courtship would be centered on Christ and aimed toward godly marriage. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman designed by God, and we pray that she would be equally yoked with a fellow believer 2 Corinthians 6:14 who will love her as Christ also loved the church Ephesians 5:25. We encourage her to view any boyfriend and girlfriend relationship as courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, and to keep that relationship pure and honoring to God. We gently remind that sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and God calls His children to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to let marriage be held in honor among all and the bed undefiled Hebrews 13:4. A relationship that honors these boundaries shows true respect and love.
We also want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We pray your daughter knows Jesus not only as Lord in word but as her personal Savior, trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins, and that any young man God brings into her life would know Him in the same way.
We pray together, Father in heaven, we lift this precious daughter to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Pour out Your joy upon her senior year, bless her with faithful friendships, protect her from harm and temptation, and help her to grow in wisdom and in favor with You and with others. If it is Your will, in Your perfect timing bring a godly young man into her life who walks faithfully with You, who will pursue her with integrity, honesty, kindness and respect, and who will seek marriage that honors You. Keep them both pure, patient and prayerful, and let their lives bear witness to Your love. Draw her ever closer to Jesus and let her future be built on Him. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
