Prayers for finances, health, and protection

Disciple of Prayer
Asking for prayers for financial increase. I’ve been having a hard time finding a new job. I’ve been stressing and a little depressed about it to the point that I have gained ###lbs in ### months from stress eating. I’ve also been struggling to lose the weight and to even fast. One more thing to add also is prayers for protection. I’ve been feeling like I may be under attack spiritually and mentally as well as financially. I just want to get my life back in order so I can be a better leader, provider, father, husband, and man of God. Please send your prayers. Thank you. I greatly appreciate it.

We come before the Lord with you in this time of need, lifting up your heartfelt concerns for finances, health, and protection. It is clear you are carrying a heavy burden, but we want to remind you that God sees your struggles and cares deeply for every detail of your life. The weight of stress and depression can feel overwhelming, but we must cast all our cares upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Let us first address the foundation of your request—your faith in Jesus Christ. While you have not mentioned His name in your plea, we know that it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of God with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is by His authority that we pray (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now, for without Him, there is no lasting hope or peace. Repent of your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to rule over every area of your life.

Your desire to be a better leader, provider, father, husband, and man of God is commendable, but it must be rooted in Christ. Apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Let us begin by praying for your spiritual strength, for the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33). You have sensed spiritual attack, and we must put on the full armor of God to stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-18). This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. You must also pray in the Spirit at all times, being watchful with perseverance.

Regarding your finances, we know that God is your provider, and He promises to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). However, we must also trust in His timing and His ways, which are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Your struggle to find a job is real, but we encourage you to seek Him first, and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). Have you been diligent in your search, while also surrendering the outcome to God? Have you sought wisdom in how to manage the resources you currently have? Proverbs 21:5 reminds us that the plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. We pray that God opens doors of opportunity for you, but also that He gives you the wisdom to walk through them at the right time. Consider whether there are skills you can develop or ways you can serve others that could lead to provision. Remember, God often uses our obedience and faithfulness in small things to bless us in greater ways.

Your health is also a concern, particularly the weight gain and stress eating you mentioned. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are called to honor God with them. Stress eating is often a sign of seeking comfort in something other than God. We must turn to Him as our refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). Have you been filling your mind with His Word, or have you allowed anxiety to dominate your thoughts? Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” We encourage you to replace the habit of stress eating with prayer, worship, or even fasting as the Lord leads. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline that humbles us before God and sharpens our focus on Him (Matthew 6:16-18). If you have struggled to fast, start small—perhaps skipping one meal to seek His face—and build from there.

Finally, your role as a husband and father is sacred. Ephesians 5:25-33 calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and Ephesians 6:4 instructs fathers to bring up their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. This is a high calling, and it requires spiritual strength. If you are not already, we urge you to lead your family in prayer, in the reading of Scripture, and in worship. Your family needs to see you trusting God, even in this season of difficulty. Your example will speak louder than words.

Now, let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is weary and burdened. Lord, You see his struggles—financially, physically, mentally, and spiritually. We ask that You would be his strength and his shield (Psalm 28:7). Forgive him for any areas where he has not trusted You fully or where he has sought comfort apart from You. Cleanse him and renew his heart, Lord.

Father, we pray for his finances. You own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and You promise to provide for Your children. Open doors of opportunity for him that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Give him favor in the eyes of those who can offer him work. Help him to be diligent, wise, and discerning in his search. Provide for his family, Lord, and let him see Your hand moving on his behalf. We rebuke the spirit of poverty and lack in Jesus’ name, and we declare that You are his Provider and his Jehovah Jireh.

Lord, we also lift up his health. You have called us to steward our bodies well, and we ask that You would give him the discipline and strength to care for his temple. Break the stronghold of stress eating and replace it with a hunger for Your Word. Help him to fast and pray, seeking Your face above all else. Restore his body, mind, and spirit, Lord. Let him experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we pray for his protection. The enemy has sought to attack him, but we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Cover him with Your blood, Lord Jesus, and surround him with Your angels. Guard his mind from anxiety and depression. Fill him with Your joy, which is his strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Let him walk in victory, knowing that greater is He who is in him than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Lord, we pray for his roles as a husband and father. Strengthen him to lead his family in Your ways. Give him wisdom, patience, and love as he shepherds his wife and children. Let his home be a place of peace and refuge, founded on Your Word.

Father, we thank You that You are faithful. You will never leave him nor forsake him (Deuteronomy 31:6). Renew his hope and his trust in You. Let this season be a testimony of Your goodness and provision. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Brother, we encourage you to keep seeking the Lord daily. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in worship. Surround yourself with godly men who can speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Do not isolate yourself—this is a key strategy of the enemy. If you have not already, consider joining a Bible-believing church where you can be discipled and encouraged. Remember, this battle is not yours alone; it is the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Stand firm, and watch Him fight for you. We are standing with you in prayer and believe that God will bring breakthrough in every area of your life. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
