We join you in bringing your friend and his fiancée before the throne of grace and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are reminded there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
We are deeply moved by this burden and we stand with you in asking for God's mercy and healing according to His perfect will. Scripture tells us in Psalm 147:3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And in Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We know that our God is sovereign over life and death and that He hears the prayer of faith.
We also rejoice to hear that this is a fiancée, a woman engaged to be married. We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman that God honors, and engagement is a holy time of courtship looking forward to that lifelong commitment. We pray that their relationship has been and will continue to be one that honors God in purity and faithfulness, for Hebrews 13:4 tells us Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled. We encourage them to keep their courtship centered on Christ as they look toward becoming one flesh in marriage.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear young woman who is in the hospital and we ask in Your mercy that if it is Your will You would touch her body and heal her. You are the Great Physician and nothing is impossible for You. We ask that You would give wisdom and skill to the doctors and nurses who care for her, and that You would bring comfort and peace to her and to her fiancé who loves her. Lord, we pray for our brother who is carrying this heavy burden, that You would draw near to him as Psalm 34:18 promises Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Grant him strength and sustain him with Your right hand as You promise in Isaiah 41:10 Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:7. And whatever the outcome, help them both to trust in Your goodness, knowing Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We ask that You would bless this couple and if it is Your will, establish their future marriage on the firm foundation of Christ. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand in the gap for them, to visit and comfort and to speak the hope of the gospel. Pray also with them that James 5:15 would be fulfilled, that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. Even in this valley, God is present and He will not forsake those who trust in Him. Keep pointing your friend to the Lord and to the promise that God works all things for the good of those who love Him, and that His comfort is everlasting.
