We have received your request and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace, to Him who is our great Physician.
You are burdened for one who is dear to you, whose best friend has been found to have a blood clot upon the brain and must see the neurosurgeon this week, and you are burdened also for yourself as you go to the hematologist tomorrow to hear of your own blood work. It is right to be prudent and to use the means which God has provided in physicians and surgeons, for we very speedily care for bodily diseases and they urge us to seek help. Yet we are taught by our Savior not to be so affected by outward things as to get into a state of worry and fretfulness and distress. Anxiety has never comforted any heart, nor has it ever brought healing to the body, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Cast your care upon the Lord, for He cares for you.
There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. When He dwelt among men, healing power was present when He taught, and faith came by hearing His word, and He healed the palsy and said, thy sins are forgiven thee, showing that pardon and healing are in happy conjunction in His hand. He still takes us by the hand and lifts us up. Healing must come from Him, and whether by His own immediate touch or by His blessing upon the skill of those who treat us, all true healing is from His hand.
We pray now for this afflicted one who suffers with a clot upon the brain, that the Lord would guide the hands and minds of the neurosurgeon and all who have care of her, that He would grant wisdom, steadiness and mercy, and that He would be pleased to restore her and spare her life. We pray also for you as you wait upon your own examination, that the Lord would quiet your spirit, keep you from anxious foreboding, and grant you favor in the report of your blood work, and if it be His will, that no concern may be found.
May the Sun of Righteousness rise upon you both with healing in His wings, and may you know that whether in sickness or in health, to be under His care is to be safe. We commend you to Him who binds up the broken hearted and heals all our diseases, trusting His wise and loving will in all things.
We will continue to pray that the Lord will grant peace to your heart, strength to your friend, and healing according to His perfect mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
