Prayers Answered

Beloved of All
Lord thank you. I tired, really I am. Tired of going through this with my mom, financially supporting my adult children and grandchildren and I can't work on me. I pray and pray still nothing. I know I'm not supposed to question you but why am I still going through this? I'm trying my hardest. I pray my daughter ### keep her car for work, find a better job and continue to stay in Georgia. I pray my daughter ### gets a better offer at work and not move to Texas. I pray my son ### stop lying, fix his ways and stop relying on me. I pray my grandson ### gets a job now and go to school now. I pray my grandson ### gets a job now. I pray my grandson ### stay in college. I pray my grandson ### stay in school. I pray my granddaughter ### work on her hygiene and brushing her teeth now. I pray my nephew ### finds happiness. I pray for me. In Jesus Name I Pray

We join you in your weariness and we hear how heavy this burden has become as you carry your mother, your adult children and your grandchildren while feeling you cannot care for yourself. We thank you for ending your prayer in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we are heard. John 14:6 reminds us that He is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

We want to gently encourage you that feeling tired and even asking God why is not faithless. Many psalmists cried out in the same way, and God invites our honest hearts. He sees your faithfulness in praying and praying and trying your hardest, and He does not grow weary of hearing you. We are reminded in Matthew 11:28 to come to Him, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and He will give you rest, and in Isaiah 40:29 that He gives power to the weak and to him who has no might He increases strength. When you feel overwhelmed we pray you will take refuge in Psalm 61:2 when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

We also want to speak with love about the financial and emotional weight you carry for adult children and grandchildren. Scripture is clear that we are to honor our parents as in Exodus 20:12, and you are doing that with your mother, and also that if anyone does not provide for his own household he has denied the faith as in 1 Timothy 5:8. Yet Scripture also teaches personal responsibility and diligence. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says if anyone will not work, neither let him eat, and Proverbs teaches that diligent hands will rule. It is loving and biblical to help in crisis, but it is not biblical to enable adult children and grandchildren to continue relying on you instead of working, providing for themselves and walking in truth. Your son who struggles with lying needs truth spoken in love, for Ephesians 4:25 and Colossians 3:9 call us to put away falsehood and not lie to one another. Part of loving them is setting wise and firm boundaries with grace, so they learn to stand on their own feet, work with their own hands as Ephesians 4:28 teaches, and seek the Lord for themselves. This also will give you space to steward your own health and resources as God intends, for even Jesus invited His disciples to come away to a deserted place and rest awhile as in Mark 6:31.

We do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up as Galatians 6:9 promises, and Psalm 55:22 tells us to cast your burden on Yahweh and He will sustain you.

We pray together now for you and your family.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our sister to You. You know her exhaustion and the years she has poured herself out for her mother, her daughters, her son, her grandchildren and her nephew. Lord, give her rest for her soul and strength for her body. Renew her like the eagle as You promise in Isaiah 40:31, and lead her to that higher rock when her heart is overwhelmed. Grant her wisdom to set loving boundaries that honor You, to say no when it is right to say no, and to trust You to provide for her family rather than carrying what is Yours to carry. Provide for her financially and physically and help her to care for herself as Your temple.

We pray for her daughter in Georgia, that You would allow her to keep her car for work, open the door to a better job according to Your will, and give her stability to remain where You have planted her. We pray for her other daughter, that You would grant favor at work and give her a better offer and guide her about whether to move to Texas, that Your will would be clear and she would seek You first. We pray for her son, that You would convict him about lying, bring him to repentance, turn his heart toward honesty and diligence, and teach him to work and provide and not rely on his mother out of dependence. We pray for her grandsons, that each one who needs work would find work now, that those in school and college would remain, persevere and not give up, and that You would give them a desire for education and for honest labor. We pray for her granddaughter, that You would help her grow in maturity and stewardship of her body, including her hygiene and care for her teeth, and give her mother and grandmother wisdom to teach her. We pray for her nephew, that he would find true happiness which is only in You, that he would seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. And we pray for our sister herself, that You would answer her own unspoken needs, heal her weariness, restore her joy, and let her feel Your presence and Your answers in Your perfect timing. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We hear how tired you are, and we want you to know we are standing with you in prayer. Carrying responsibility for your mom while also financially supporting your adult children and grandchildren is a heavy load, and it makes sense you feel you have had no space left to care for yourself.

Many who find themselves in this kind of sandwich place between generations discover the stress does not let up quickly, and without rest and clear limits it can leave a person exhausted in body and spirit. Loving your family well also includes learning where your responsibility ends and theirs begins, so you can say yes and no honestly and with peace.

One gentle next step that often helps is to talk this through with one trusted person outside the family, a pastor, counselor or mature friend, who can help you sort what help is truly needed and what might be keeping others dependent. Even choosing one small boundary around time or money and keeping it consistently can create a little breathing room to attend to your own health and rest. If the tiredness feels deep or ongoing, please also consider seeing your doctor alongside prayer.

We also hold before the Lord each of the loved ones you named and your own heart's need for renewal.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see her tiredness and her faithful love for her family. Grant her rest, wisdom for each decision, strength for today and hope as she looks to You. Provide for each child and grandchild according to Your will and draw them toward responsibility and wholeness. Care for her as she has cared for others. Amen.

Your weariness has come up before the Lord and He has heard the sigh that you scarce could utter. You say, I am tired, and I pray and pray still nothing. Yet take heart, for sincere prayer may often be very feeble to us, but it is always acceptable to God, and unanswered petitions are not unheard. God keeps a file for our prayers. They are not blown away by the wind, they are treasured in the King's archives. There is a registry in the court of Heaven where every prayer is recorded. Brethren must not take delays in prayer for denial. God's long dated bills will be punctually honored. We must not suffer Satan to shake our confidence in the God of Truth by pointing to our unanswered prayers.

Settle this in your mind first, as the Savior did in His own darkness, But You are holy. Though you should have seven years of unanswered prayer, yet suggest any other reason to your mind than one which would dishonor Him. He is holy and He does all things well. Sometimes unanswered prayer is a Fatherly chastisement for our offenses, or an admonition against sin harbored, and sometimes there may be great sin in the prayer itself. Search your heart therefore not with despair but with humble hope, and ask the Lord to show you if there be any way in you that grieves Him. At other times He withholds the answer not to punish but to strengthen. He is strengthening your muscles and tendons, sinews and power by the arduous exercise of unanswered prayer that you may be finely useful in the future.

You carry a heavy burden, and I feel its weight with you. You have borne the burden of a mother, and now of children and grandchildren who lean upon you. Hear the word of the Lord, Every man shall bear his own burden. There is a burden of prayer we all must carry, and you have carried it nobly in intercession, but there is also a burden of life and responsibility which each must bear for himself. You have begun by not only bearing your brother's burden but by thrusting upon yourself burdens which others must learn to bear in the strength of God. It is right to help them to bear their burden, to bring them by faith and prayer to Jesus feet and lay them there, for you cannot repent and believe for them, but you can believe about them and pray them into His hands. Yet you must not sit under a load that Christ never meant you to carry alone. When you come to Christ and get rid of your old burden, He puts upon you His burden, and you stay with Him and learn of Him till at last you prove that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. What you find heavy in life may not be Christ's yoke at all. Come to Him anew and learn of Him, for His yoke alone is easy.

Your intercession is precious in His sight. Remember that intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ is of this character and in all the incense which our Great High Priest puts into the censer there is not a single grain that is for Himself. It is also exceedingly prevalent. It has stayed plagues and it will yet bring down blessings from on high. You have prayed for your daughters that the Lord would provide for their work and their dwelling, for your son that he would turn from lying and walk in truth, for your grandsons that they would be diligent in labor and in learning, for your granddaughter that she would care for the body God has given her, for your nephew that he would find true happiness. These are right petitions when offered with submission to the will of God. Pray on, and pray fervently, for no prayer is likely to bring down an immediate answer if it is not a fervent prayer. We must get rid of the icicles that hang about our lips.

For your son, pray that God would grant him repentance and a love of truth, for lying is hateful to the Lord and only Christ can wash and change the heart. For your daughters and grandsons, pray not only that they may keep a car or a place or a position, but that they may be brought to bear their own burden with honest industry, and to seek first the kingdom of God. For your nephew, remember that lasting happiness is found only in salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Ask that he may find his joy in Christ, which is joy indeed. For your granddaughter, teach her that cleanliness and care are part of honoring the Lord with the body.

And for yourself, dear soul who says I pray for me, I would have you pray with the Psalmist, Quicken me in Your way. Such a prayer is an index of life, and can only come from one in whom the quickening Spirit already dwells. You need to be quickened in private prayer, quickened in reading the Scriptures, quickened in all forms of worship. Do not merely ask for strength to do more, ask for Christ Himself to be your strength. He went home and had double cause for prayer, first for mercy to blot out sin, and then for grace to live unto God. You have that double cause still.

May the Lord answer you, but not always as you expect. Jacob prayed and his prayer was answered, but it was not answered in the way he expected it would be. So trust the wisdom of Him who is greatly loving toward you. Though the answer tarry, wait for it. Your sighs and your tears are not fruitless.

I pray for you now that the Lord Jesus Christ, who bore the heavy burden of sin in your place, would give you rest. May He forgive your sins through His blood, quicken you in His way, lift from you what you were never meant to carry, teach those you love to walk uprightly and to bear their own burden in His strength, and keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him. In Jesus Name, Amen.
