Prayer

Beloved of All
Listen to my prayer, O God, and do not ignore my plea. 2Attend to me and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and distraught 3at the voice of the enemy, at the pressure of the wicked. For they bring down disaster upon me and resent me in their anger. 4My heart pounds within me, and the terrors of death assail me. 5Fear and trembling grip me, Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; 2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war. and horror has overwhelmed me. 6I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and find rest. 7How far away I would flee! In the wilderness I would remain.

We hear the anguish in your heart, dear one, and we join you in lifting these burdens before the throne of grace. Your words echo the cries of King David in Psalm 55, where he too was overwhelmed by enemies and the weight of betrayal. The fear, trembling, and desire to flee are not unfamiliar to those who walk with God, yet even in these moments, He remains our refuge.

First, we must address the foundation of our plea. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Without this, our prayers lack the authority and access that Christ alone provides. If you have already done so, we rejoice with you and stand with you in the authority of His name.

Now, let us rebuke the schemes of the enemy that seek to steal your peace and distort your perspective. The wicked may plot and gather for war, but the Lord laughs at them, for He sees their day is coming (Psalm 37:13). We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we take authority over every spirit of fear, oppression, and torment in Jesus’ name. The enemy may roar like a lion, but he is a defeated foe (1 Peter 5:8-9). You are not abandoned, God is your strong tower, and the righteous run into it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10).

We also recognize the deep longing in your heart for escape, for wings like a dove to flee the chaos. Yet even in this, we are reminded that God does not always remove us from the storm, sometimes He walks with us through it. Consider Elijah, who fled to the wilderness in despair, yet God met him there with provision and a still, small voice (1 Kings 19). The wilderness is not your end; it may be the place where God refines your faith and draws you closer to Him.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name. You see the turmoil in this dear one’s heart, the fear, the trembling, the longing to escape. We ask You to be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lord, rebuke the enemy who seeks to devour and discourage. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, if there is any area of their life not surrendered to You, reveal it now. If they have not yet placed their trust in Jesus, draw them to Yourself. For those who know You, strengthen their faith. Remind them that You are their deliverer, their shield, and their fortress. When they are afraid, help them to trust in You (Psalm 56:3).

We declare that no plot of the wicked will prevail against them. You are their defender, and You will fight for them (Exodus 14:14). Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. Heal their restless heart and replace their fear with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18).

Father, if there is sin in their life, whether bitterness, unforgiveness, or compromise, convict them gently and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them and restore their joy. We ask for wisdom and discernment to navigate the challenges before them. Give them the courage to stand firm, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We thank You, Lord, that You hear our prayers. You incline Your ear to us when we call (Psalm 17:6). We trust You to answer in Your perfect timing and in Your perfect way. May this dear one experience Your peace, Your protection, and Your presence in overwhelming measure.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to the promises of God’s Word. Meditate on Psalm 91, which declares that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Memorize verses that speak to God’s protection and peace, and speak them aloud when fear rises. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you. The battle is not yours, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Stand firm, and watch Him move on your behalf.

We hear the depth of what you're pouring out, that ache to have wings and fly away, the pounding heart that makes rest feel impossible. You've named something so human, something the psalmist knew and even the bold prophet Elijah felt when he collapsed under a broom tree, begging God to let him die. He wanted to escape too. And God's response wasn't a lecture or a demand to be stronger. He came near. He sent an angel to touch him, gave him food, gave him sleep, and spoke not in the wind or earthquake but in a gentle whisper.

That's the kind of care we pray you sense right now. Fear shrinks our world until all we can see is the threat, but we're not alone in the darkness. The same God who ministered to a exhausted, terrified Elijah holds you. You don't have to fix your fear or pray perfectly; you can just be still and let Him be near.

When the terror rises, perhaps you might quietly say, "Lord, You know I'm afraid. Help me feel Your presence here." That's not a technique, it's turning your heart to the One who never flinches at our panic.

We're praying with you:

Lord Jesus, You are the shelter for all who are overwhelmed. Hold our friend tonight. Quiet the pounding heart, ease the racing thoughts, and make Your gentle presence known. In this season of fear, bring rest that doesn't depend on circumstances but on Your faithful love. In Your name, Amen.

You have been delivered from worse enemies, and saved by a greater salvation. Let your gratitude be deeper; let your song be more jubilant. This is not our rest; it is polluted. We are passing through the desert of earth to the Promised Land of heaven, but we praise God that we have wells to drink of on the road. Then we no longer fear the archers, but are rid of every fear; we know whom we have believed, and are persuaded that he is able to keep that which we have committed unto him; and, no longer disturbed by our enemies, we sit by the well’s brink, and are refreshed.

You cry, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and find rest.” But it is a present rest, rest now; not rest after death; not rest after a time of probation and growth and advancement; but it is rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. And it is perfect rest too. You have done now with servile toils and hopeless burdens, you have entered into rest through believing; but all the rest and deliverance still comes to you as a gift from his dear hands, who purchased with a price this blessing for your souls.

What is death that we should have any fear concerning it? What is eternity that we should ever let our spirit be depressed at the thought of it? He has a mortal malady within him that is dragging him down from all hope and joy, this dread fear has settled like a vampire upon his soul, that he is going down to the Pit! But nobody would have thought of that way of the deliverance of a sinner from the pit of Hell through a ransom if God had not thought of it! Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said it, “I have found a ransom.”

You say your heart pounds and the terrors of death assail you. You fear you are forsaken. But listen: if you forsake the throne, then may you indeed have a fear that you are forsaken. But when the Spirit draws you to the mercy-seat, such a fear must vanish, for if you are at the mercy-seat, God is there too. God loves the mercy-seat better than you do. I stayed at the brook Jabbok, and I said, “Lord, give deliverance from him whom I think bloodthirsty.” I crossed the brook full of fear and trembling, but tell it, O let it be known for the comfort of others in like trouble with me, I met my brother Esau, and he fell upon my neck and kissed me.

Surely God’s truth is good ground for a soul to rest on! There can be no fear when here is your mainstay and refuge. Though the pillars of the earth are removed and all the wheels of nature break, there can be no fear that the Eternal Himself should lie. I do remember well when I first found rest, I did not think it was so simple a matter. I could not believe that rest came simply by trusting. But trust and you shall rest!

This deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. He feels that if he ever rises from his despondency, he can never dare to take an atom of the honor of deliverance to himself, it must be of free grace only. He can do nothing and he knows it! Your salvation does not rest in your hands. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. All the matter of salvation rests with the Eternal Father, through Jesus Christ. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin! And if He has delivered us from the power of darkness, then He will certainly help us in our daily troubles. Did He give His own dear Son to put away our sin, and will He not give us bread and water?

In this full assurance he went bravely to meet his enemies, and went courageously whenever duty called him. I fear that there are some such persons who know no trouble now, but in hell they lift up their eyes, being in torments. But you shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. We were frozen with fear. We thought we were, as dead men, laid out for burial, when suddenly the Lord’s face shone in upon us and all darkness was gone! And we leaped into joyful security, crying, “God is the Lord, which has showed us light.”

Return unto your rest. You never will find rest out of Christ. He is above the molestation of mankind, for his life is hidden with Christ; his conversation is in heaven; he is free from fear, since he has nothing to fear; all his interests are secure. He has cast himself upon his God in Christ, and since God has made him free, he is free indeed. There remaineth a rest to the people of God. Doubting one, fear not, all the people of God shall enter there; there is no fear about it.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In Jesus name. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your cry echoes the voice of the psalmist, and it is not hidden from God. Yet observe: the dove’s wings you long for would carry you into a wilderness of isolation, not into the safety you imagine. When the disciples were tossed by the waves, Christ did not calm the sea at once, but came to them in the fourth watch of the night. He taught them not to seek immediate deliverance, but to bear the tempest manfully. So I urge you: do not flee from the trial, but stand firm in the place where God has set you.

The terrors that grip your heart and the voice of the enemy are real, but the peace of God surpasses all understanding. This is no ordinary peace. It is the peace Christ left with us: a peace that commands us to be at peace even with those who war against us. When you are in turmoil, ask for this peace to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. It is not a peace born of quiet circumstances, but a divine calm that holds you fast in the storm. Let it keep you from being overwhelmed.

You suffer from the pressure of the wicked, yet consider what is gained by bearing their spite with meekness. Such endurance delivers you from sin, works fortitude, and roots out anger’s tyranny. The one who learns not to hate cannot be easily troubled, but will find unexpected joy. You harm yourself when you give way to resentment; you benefit your own soul when you forgive.

Remember also that we are not solitary soldiers. The early believers faced great opposition, yet they went out boldly into the marketplace, prevailing among enemies because they were united in love and faith. When we are firmly joined together, no warfare proves too hard. Do not isolate yourself or imagine that your battle is yours alone. Pour out your complaint, as you have done, but then stand in the fellowship of the Church, where you are strengthened by the prayers and presence of the faithful. God, who did not spare His own Son, will through that same grace supply the deliverance in His time. So cast off the wish to fly away. Remain in the wilderness of your trial, knowing that the God who brings forth fruit from the earth by His command will also bring forth blessing from your patient endurance.

The ache to simply escape, to sprout wings and flee into some quiet wilderness, is a cry of a soul under siege. That pounding heart, the sense of disaster pressing in, the voices of those who scheme against you, it all drives a restless desperation. And when we are honest, we often reach for something to dull the pain or help us run: a distraction, a substance, a fantasy, anything that promises a momentary hiding place. Yet those escapes never bring the deep rest you long for. The only place a heart truly rests is in the place God Himself has provided, and that repose is only entered by faith.

Faith and fear cannot occupy the same space. Where fear is allowed to grip the mind, faith departs; where faith takes hold, fear loses its power. So the real question is not how to outrun your enemies, but whether you will trust the One who is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Jesus Christ is that city of refuge to which we flee. He is not a temporary shelter for the night; He is the secure habitation where no avenger can touch you. In Him, the promise of rest stands open. God desires to bring you out of the wilderness of constant anxiety and into a settled confidence, where you are not forever upset and fretting, but quietly assured that He will handle what threatens you.

Those who are hounding your steps, imagining mischief, gathering for war, they may seem formidable, but they are not greater than the God who has pledged to be your shield. He does not ask you to solve the crisis by your own cunning or courage. He simply invites you to stop your own striving and enter His rest. That rest is found in Christ's finished work, not in your ability to fix the situation. So do not harden your heart through unbelief, as if the promise of His care were not for you. Because you have believed, you have already begun to enter that rest, but you may yet be lingering at the edges. Go all the way in. Let your prayer shift your focus from the tempest around you to the God who holds you. The enemies of the Lord shall perish; your place is to remain in the refuge and let Him be your deliverance. Today, choose faith over flight. That stillness in the storm is not a lack of feeling, but a deep certainty that the Lord will see you through.
