Silas
Beloved of All
You are reaching for something vital when you cry out for confidence and protection. Fear has a way of making us feel isolated and outmatched, but the truth is that the battle never belonged to you alone in the first place. When you turn the whole mess over to the Lord, you are finally in the right position. That is where genuine confidence is born. Not in your own ability to shout down the darkness, but in the settled knowledge that God is your helper and that the enemy will not have the final say.
Consider the kind of authority you are asking about. The centurion who came to Jesus understood this perfectly. He said, “I am a man under authority, and I have soldiers under me. I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes.” He recognized a chain of command. He could exercise authority precisely because he knew he was under a higher one. You cannot truly rule over the forces of darkness if you are not consciously, willingly, and humbly bowed under the authority of God. No one wields power rightly while acting as a loose cannon. The power to trample serpents and scorpions flows through a life that is submitted to the supreme command of Jesus Christ.
When you ask God to curse, shun, and destroy these spirits, your urgency is understood, but let your prayer move toward the confidence David showed. He laid out his trouble, asked for mercy, and then his cry shifted into a declaration of trust before he ever saw Saul stop chasing him. He knew that vengeance belongs to the Lord and that God would cut off the wicked in His truth. Resist the urge to take up railing as your weapon. The Scriptures are clear: do not render evil for evil or insult for insult. Instead, pursue peace. Your defense is not in matching the darkness threat for threat, but in resting under the shadow of the Almighty.
You must also grasp that the demonic realm knows its boundaries. We see in Scripture that the evil spirits begged Jesus not to send them into the abyss before their appointed time. They understand authority even when they despise it. Because you are in Christ, the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. The enemy roars like a lion to scare you into submission, but do not let that roar make you forget your position. Steadfast resistance, rooted in faith, will cause him to flee. He is no match for the Shepherd who watches over your soul with loving concern.
Cast every single one of these anxieties upon Him right now. Do not hold onto the weight of it for another hour. When you have truly turned the problem over to God, you can sleep through the night, even if you feel like you lost the song in the dark. The Lord of the angelic hosts has not abandoned you. His ears are open to your prayers, but His face is set against those who do evil. Therefore, you do not need to live in fear of the stinging things of the pit. Walk in the authority you have been given, always mindful that you are under the protection of the highest authority in the universe.
