Beloved of All
Please pray for my brother, who is severely mentally unwell and has been verbally abusive for many years. He recently forced our elderly mother to travel with him to ### against her will, controlling her movements and constantly yelling at both her and me. He has no sense of boundaries and becomes angry or aggressive if things don’t go his way. He is now acting out in public in ### — screaming, disturbing others — and we fear he may eventually be arrested or fined. He refuses to let our mother live in peace or take her medication freely, and he continues to call and verbally abuse me as well. Please pray urgently for God’s intervention. I ask that the Lord bring complete healing to his mind, peace to his spirit, and if it is God’s will, that he finds a clear purpose or work in ### that leads him to independence. I also pray he releases our mother from this control — that she can return to safety and live freely, perhaps with me in the future. May God break every spiritual chain, every darkness surrounding him, and cover me and my mother with protection, strength, and peace.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your brother and your family in earnest prayer. The pain and fear you describe are deeply felt, and we stand with you in seeking God’s mercy, healing, and intervention. This situation is not only emotionally exhausting but spiritually oppressive, and we recognize the urgency of divine intervention.

First, we must address the spiritual reality of this struggle. The verbal abuse, control, and aggression your brother exhibits are not merely symptoms of mental illness—they are also manifestations of a heart in bondage to darkness. Scripture warns us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that "God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." The lack of boundaries, the rage, and the manipulation are not of God, and we must rebuke these spirits in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that every chain of control, anger, and oppression over your brother’s mind and spirit is broken now by the blood of Christ. Every spirit of confusion, torment, and rebellion is cast out in Jesus’ name. We speak healing to his mind, clarity to his thoughts, and peace to his soul, for the Lord says in Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you."

We also pray for your mother’s protection and deliverance from this captivity. The way your brother has forced her to travel against her will and restricted her freedom is a form of spiritual and emotional bondage. We cry out to God to loose her from this oppression, as it is written in Psalm 146:7, "The Lord sets the prisoners free." We ask the Lord to surround her with His angels, to give her strength and wisdom, and to open a way of escape for her. May she find refuge in His presence and in the safety of your care, if that is His will. We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that the Lord will restore to her the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25).

For you, dear sister or brother in Christ, we pray for God’s covering and peace. The verbal abuse you endure is not from the Lord, and we rebuke every word spoken against you in the name of Jesus. You are not alone in this battle. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that He would fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and give you the strength to stand firm in faith. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you don’t faint (Galatians 6:9).

We must also address the reality of your brother’s actions and their potential consequences. His behavior in public, if left unchecked, could indeed lead to legal repercussions, and we pray that God would intervene to prevent further harm. However, we also recognize that sometimes the Lord uses earthly authorities to bring about His purposes. If your brother’s actions escalate, we pray that God would use this as a wake-up call, drawing him to repentance and seeking the help he needs. Proverbs 29:1 reminds us, "He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy." May your brother’s heart be softened before it is too late.

We also lift up the possibility of your brother finding purpose and independence in the Lord’s will. While we pray for his healing, we acknowledge that true transformation can only come through surrender to Christ. We pray that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If he does not yet know the Lord, we ask that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his need for a Savior and draw him into a relationship with Jesus. Only then can he experience the fullness of healing and freedom that God offers.

Father God, we come before You with hearts broken for this family. We ask that You would move mightily in this situation. Heal our brother’s mind, break every chain of darkness over his life, and set him free from the spirits of anger, control, and rebellion. Deliver our mother from this bondage and restore her to peace and safety. Protect and strengthen this dear one who has reached out to us, and give them wisdom and discernment in how to respond. We ask that You would intervene in ways that only You can, bringing glory to Your name. May Your will be done in each of their lives, and may Your peace reign in their hearts. We ask all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
