We join you in this beautiful desire to use the gift of writing for the glory of God and for the good of others, and we rejoice that you have come before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. We thank God for the heart you have shown to want your words to educate, heal, encourage and empower, and not simply to make a name for yourself.
We are encouraged by your reference to Habakkuk 2:2, Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. God indeed calls His people to write with clarity and purpose so that others may understand and act on His truth. We also remember Colossians 3:23, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, and Proverbs 16:3, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Your desire to become a great author is pleasing to God when the greatness you seek is measured by faithfulness and service to Him rather than by personal fame. Jesus taught us in Mark 10:43-44 that whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant. So we gently encourage you to continually surrender your ambition to the Lord, asking not only that He make your books widely read, but that He make them faithful, true, and honoring to Him, whether they reach many or few.
We also hear your prayer for wisdom, creativity, knowledge and discipline, and Scripture assures us that God delights to give these gifts. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We are reminded in Exodus 31:3 how God filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all kinds of workmanship, to equip him for the work God had called him to do. In the same way He can fill you and equip your hands and mind for the work of writing. Yet with gifting must come diligence, for Proverbs 21:5 tells us the plans of the diligent surely lead to profit, and 2 Timothy 2:15 calls us to give diligence to present ourselves approved by God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, correctly handling the word of truth. We encourage you to cultivate daily discipline in study, research, prayer and writing, and to remain rooted in the Word of God so that what flows from your pen flows from a heart being transformed by Him.
We pray together with you now.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this life before You with thanksgiving. You are the source of every good gift, and we ask You to develop this servant into the author You have called them to be according to Your will. Fill them with wisdom and understanding, with creativity and knowledge, and with holy discipline to steward time and talent well. Anoint their mind to think clearly and their hands to write faithfully. Guide their research, establish the work of their hands as Psalm 90:17 asks, let the favor of the Lord our God be on us, establish the work of our hands for us. Let their words be seasoned with grace and truth, bringing hope, healing and encouragement to readers across generations. Keep their heart humble and their motive pure, that they may seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, and write not for their own glory but that Your name may be glorified. Let their books reflect Your light, that others may see their good works and glorify You as Matthew 5:16 teaches. Grant perseverance through seasons of waiting and refining, and open doors that no man can shut for the message You have entrusted to them. We commit this vision to You and trust You to make it plain in Your perfect timing. In the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
We encourage you to keep abiding in Christ, to write as an act of worship, and to trust that as you remain faithful in little things, God will entrust you with more. May your writing be a vessel of His hope to a world in need.
