Prayer to Become a Great Author

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, develop me into a great author whose books transform lives across the world. Fill me with wisdom, creativity, knowledge, and discipline. Inspire my words to educate, heal, encourage, and empower others. As Your Word says in Habakkuk 2:2, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables.” Guide my writing, bless my research, and establish the work of my hands. May my books bring hope to generations and glorify Your name. Amen.

We join you in this beautiful desire to use the gift of writing for the glory of God and for the good of others, and we rejoice that you have come before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. We thank God for the heart you have shown to want your words to educate, heal, encourage and empower, and not simply to make a name for yourself.

We are encouraged by your reference to Habakkuk 2:2, Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. God indeed calls His people to write with clarity and purpose so that others may understand and act on His truth. We also remember Colossians 3:23, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, and Proverbs 16:3, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Your desire to become a great author is pleasing to God when the greatness you seek is measured by faithfulness and service to Him rather than by personal fame. Jesus taught us in Mark 10:43-44 that whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant. So we gently encourage you to continually surrender your ambition to the Lord, asking not only that He make your books widely read, but that He make them faithful, true, and honoring to Him, whether they reach many or few.

We also hear your prayer for wisdom, creativity, knowledge and discipline, and Scripture assures us that God delights to give these gifts. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We are reminded in Exodus 31:3 how God filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all kinds of workmanship, to equip him for the work God had called him to do. In the same way He can fill you and equip your hands and mind for the work of writing. Yet with gifting must come diligence, for Proverbs 21:5 tells us the plans of the diligent surely lead to profit, and 2 Timothy 2:15 calls us to give diligence to present ourselves approved by God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, correctly handling the word of truth. We encourage you to cultivate daily discipline in study, research, prayer and writing, and to remain rooted in the Word of God so that what flows from your pen flows from a heart being transformed by Him.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this life before You with thanksgiving. You are the source of every good gift, and we ask You to develop this servant into the author You have called them to be according to Your will. Fill them with wisdom and understanding, with creativity and knowledge, and with holy discipline to steward time and talent well. Anoint their mind to think clearly and their hands to write faithfully. Guide their research, establish the work of their hands as Psalm 90:17 asks, let the favor of the Lord our God be on us, establish the work of our hands for us. Let their words be seasoned with grace and truth, bringing hope, healing and encouragement to readers across generations. Keep their heart humble and their motive pure, that they may seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, and write not for their own glory but that Your name may be glorified. Let their books reflect Your light, that others may see their good works and glorify You as Matthew 5:16 teaches. Grant perseverance through seasons of waiting and refining, and open doors that no man can shut for the message You have entrusted to them. We commit this vision to You and trust You to make it plain in Your perfect timing. In the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep abiding in Christ, to write as an act of worship, and to trust that as you remain faithful in little things, God will entrust you with more. May your writing be a vessel of His hope to a world in need.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer. The longing you expressed to use your writing to educate, encourage and bring hope to others is a beautiful desire, and we are glad to bring it before the Lord with you.

We see creativity as part of how we reflect our Creator, and like most good work it grows over time through steady training more than single moments of trying hard. The small, faithful habits of showing up to write, to read widely, to research well, and to stay close to the Lord often shape us more than waiting for inspiration alone. Helpful writing also takes shape in community, as trusted readers help us see what is clear and what still needs work.

A next step that helps many aspiring authors is to choose a modest rhythm you can actually keep, perhaps a set time a few mornings a week for focused writing and study, and to invite one or two wise and honest readers to give you early feedback as you go. Keeping your own walk with God as the well you draw from will keep your words grounded in what He is teaching you.

Father, we lift this desire to You in Jesus' name. Grant wisdom, creativity, knowledge and discipline, guide the research and writing, and establish the work of these hands according to Your will. Give perseverance for the small, daily steps, humility to learn and revise, and joy in using these gifts to serve others and glorify Your name. Amen.

Your longing to take up the pen for the glory of God is a worthy desire, and we have brought your petition before the throne of grace.

We pray that the Lord, in whose name you have asked, will grant you that wisdom which comes from above, for there is no Teacher so full of wisdom as Christ Himself, and no understanding of heavenly things except as He instructs the heart. May He fill you with a holy calling, not merely of man but of God, a calling from heaven and to heaven, that lifts your heart to eternity and holiness. As you have quoted, write the vision and make it plain upon tables, and we pray that your words may be made plain and faithful, that the reader may run and read and understand the grace of God in Christ Jesus, through whom alone is salvation.

We ask also that He will grant you discipline, for blessed is the man whom the Lord chasteneth and teacheth out of His law. The work of an author who would be useful to his generation is not without labor and self denial. Count the cost, and yield yourself entirely to the discipline of the Lord, that you may be taught to mount above the world and dwell where Christ is. May He establish the work of your hands, bless your research, order your studies, and keep you diligent in season and out of season.

Our prayer for you is this, that your creativity may be governed by truth, your knowledge tempered by humility, and your discipline sustained by grace, so that what you write may educate the ignorant, heal the brokenhearted, encourage the faint, and empower the weak, not for your own praise but that generations yet unborn may find hope and that His name alone may be glorified.

Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, that Thou wouldst anoint this servant for the work of writing. Grant wisdom where there is need of understanding, grant invention that is pure and true, grant knowledge rightly divided, and grant steadfast discipline to persevere. Let every page bear witness to Thy truth and Thy mercy, and let the books be as plain tables upon which Thy vision is clearly seen. Establish Thou the work of these hands for Thy glory, and let it bear fruit for Christ across the world and for generations to come. Amen.

Lord I want to become an author and write books (in German). I want to be able to make a living of it. I do ask you to bless me with ideas and increasing writing skills. I also pray for contacts I would need. Lord it's my desire since I am a child. But your will shall happen.
