The Lord has spoken, and He has not been silent in your distress. I see in your plea the cry of a soul that longs for the nearness of God, and such longing is itself a token of His gracious work within you. You ask to grow closer to Him, to hear His voice, to be filled with wisdom and strength. Remember, it is in the ashes that Job truly saw the Lord. He cried, "I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes." When God seems to frown, draw near in childlike confidence, for it is then that the eye of faith rests on Him and the heart is cleansed. Seek Him in His Word, and you shall find His voice leaping from the page as a living flame. The least leaf of that Tree of Life bears healing; how much more the fruit of abiding in Christ!
You plead for complete healing, body, mind, spirit, and circumstances. The Great Physician is near, and Calvary is the place for His healing balm. When Jesus walked among us, healing and forgiveness were one, and He whispers to every trembling soul, "Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven thee." In Him, the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings. Whether the ailment be migraines, fatigue, or a growth that frightens the flesh, cast it upon Him who bore our sicknesses. The healing virtue that flows from Christ changes the lifeblood of the soul and, in due time, shall perfectly heal even these mortal bodies. For refreshing sleep and renewed strength, look to Him who gives His beloved rest. Your weakness is the stage for His power, and His grace is sufficient where nature fails.
Financial need presses hard, and the money owed to you tarries. The enemy would have you charge God foolishly, but in all this, sin not. Job lost all, yet worshipped and said, "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." He did not sin, nor impute folly to his Maker. The Lord who turns in grace to His people comes flying on the wings of the wind to display His favor. He can release what is withheld, and He can provide where there is no visible supply. His supernatural provision often comes through doors we never knocked upon. Wait upon Him with open hands and a trusting heart, for He knows your needs before you ask.
The house you hoped for has been shut against you, and your landlord’s answer hangs uncertain. Here is a fresh trial, yet let not your faith wither. His leaf shall not fade, and you, a tree planted by His rivers, shall be sustained. The Lord opened the heart of a heathen king to show favor to Nehemiah; He can turn the hearts of landlords and homeowners with a glance. Favor and grace are His to bestow. Lay this burden before Him who appoints the bounds of our habitation, and be assured that the right shelter will open when His time is full.
Tomorrow’s work and the jobs you have sought, these too are in His hand. The power of Christ to heal and help was conspicuously present when He was teaching, linking the Word with the restoration of life. So it is with your daily labor: as you abide in Him, He will establish the work of your hands. You may lack every requirement on paper, but the favor of the Lord is not bound by ink. Esther found grace before a king, and God can cause decision-makers to look upon you with inexplicable delight. Ask, and it shall be opened. Pray for the peace that passes understanding to garrison your heart, and wisdom to speak and act as His child.
Above all, you have asked that God’s perfect will be done. That is the highest note, the purest prayer. When Job had endured the furnace, his latter end was more blessed than his beginning. The glory that once was fresh in him returned in double measure. Every disappointment, every delayed answer, every aching hour, these shall become the backdrop for the tapestry of His faithfulness. Your faith, though now tested, will come forth as gold. Hold fast, for your bow shall be renewed, and your strength shall return. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. I stand with you in prayer, confident that He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart.
