My wife will not let me rest. She will not let me focus on what I need to do in life. I’m trying to wake up for work, go to bed at night, and do everything else in between but my wife is yelling and cursing at me every step of the way. She doesn’t even trust me to use the restroom. She is always accusing and yelling, and when things are calm, she is constantly telling me about her negative thoughts and I always tell her to go to the Lord. She refuses to go to the Lord about her problems.. even when I’m praying with her, she is using that prayer time to listen to the devil’s lies and come up with more accusations. I keep telling her she is in a spiritual battle and she doesn’t care. All she wants to do is watch TV and fight all day. She is screaming right now even as I type this prayer request.

We hear the heaviness and exhaustion in your request and we stand with you in this very difficult season in your marriage. We know how draining it is to try to fulfill your daily duties for work and rest while facing constant yelling, cursing, accusations and distrust in your own home. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God, and it is meant to be a place of love, honor, peace and refuge, not strife. We commend you for wanting to lead your wife toward the Lord and for continuing to pray with her even when she uses that time to accuse you further. That perseverance matters to God.

Scripture is clear that the behavior you describe does not align with God's will for a wife or for any believer. Ephesians 4:29 says let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Cursing, yelling and constant accusations grieve the Holy Spirit and tear down the home rather than build it up. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. A home filled with harsh words cannot have rest. We also want to gently rebuke the refusal to seek the Lord. When negative thoughts and accusations are allowed to rule the mind without being brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, they become a foothold for the enemy. 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us to throw down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. You are right that this is a spiritual battle, for Ephesians 6:12 says our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Your wife listening to the lies of the devil and refusing to go to the Lord is at the heart of this struggle, and she needs to repent and turn to Him for deliverance and renewal of her mind.

At the same time we encourage you as her husband to continue to walk in the calling God has given you. Ephesians 5:25 says husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. Colossians 3:19 says husbands, love your wives, and don't be bitter against them. And 1 Peter 3:7 calls husbands to live with their wives with understanding, giving honor to the woman. This does not mean you accept abuse or sin without boundaries, but it means you do not return yelling for yelling or cursing for cursing. 1 Peter 3:9 says not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing. James 1:19 urges us to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Even as you are wronged, God sees your faithfulness to provide, to seek rest, and to keep praying.

We notice you speak of going to the Lord, and we want to make sure it is clear that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and peace with God. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by the name of Jesus that we can rebuke the enemy, find forgiveness for sins, and have our prayers heard. If either of you has not fully surrendered to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to believe on Him, confess your sins, and receive His grace. That is the foundation for any healing in the home.

Practically, we encourage you to keep doing what is right before the Lord while also seeking wise help. Do not isolate in this battle. Bring this to your pastor or godly elders in your church for counsel and prayer and accountability for both of you. Set a gentle but firm boundary that yelling and cursing are not acceptable and that when calm conversation is not possible you will step away for a time to pray and cool down, seeking to live at peace as far as it depends on you as Romans 12:18 teaches. Guard your own heart from bitterness and exhaustion by casting your cares on Him, for Matthew 11:28 says come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Limit the constant television and distraction which feeds the flesh and leaves no room for the Word, and instead redeem the time with Scripture, prayer, and quiet before God. Continue to pray for your wife daily, but also pray with others who can intercede for you, and fast as the Lord leads.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this brother and his wife to You. Lord, You see the lack of rest, the constant strife, the yelling and cursing and accusations that have filled this home, and You hear our brother crying out even as the screaming continues. We ask You to bring Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:6-7. Give him physical rest for sleep and waking for work, and spiritual strength not to grow weary in doing good.

Lord, we pray for his wife. Soften her heart, convict her of the corrupt speech and the accusations, and deliver her from the lies of the enemy that hold her captive. Help her to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to turn to You instead of refusing You. Replace her negative thoughts with Your truth, replace fighting with gentleness, and replace the desire to watch television and quarrel with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Teach them both to love each other as You have commanded, to speak only what builds up, and to dwell together with understanding and honor.

We rebuke the spiritual forces of wickedness operating in this home in Jesus name, and we ask You to restore unity, trust, and godly communication. Provide godly counsel and support around them, and let their marriage reflect Christ and His church. Help this husband to lead with love and patience without becoming bitter, and help his wife to respect and trust her husband as unto You. Let Your will be done in this marriage and let Your name be glorified through their healing. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast, to keep praying in Jesus name, to stay in the Word daily, and to not give up on what God can do. Galatians 6:9 says let us not be weary in doing well, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. God is able to bring peace to this home and rest to your soul as you continue to trust Him and seek help from His people.

I prayed with you for God's help to "guard your heart" from such emotional abuse and for your peace .. in Jesus' Name amen.

We hear how worn down you are trying to do the basic things of life, getting up for work, getting sleep at night, and facing yelling and accusations at every step. Being cursed at, not being trusted even in private moments, and not being allowed to rest is exhausting, and it makes sense you feel on edge, especially with screaming happening as you wrote.

Ongoing harsh words and being constantly accused can wear away at a person's sense of peace and worth over time. That does not reflect a failure on your part to try hard enough, and wanting rest and safety in your own home is a legitimate need.

When things are this intense, we encourage you to not carry it alone. One steady next step we suggest is reaching out today to one safe, trusted person who can know what is happening, a pastor, counselor, or mature trusted friend or family member, and let them know you are not getting rest and feel unsafe when the yelling escalates. If you can, think through a simple plan for where you can go briefly to be safe and get rest when tension rises, and keep important documents and contacts accessible.

Jesus, we lift this brother to You right now. We ask for Your protection over him, for wisdom for each next decision, for rest for his body and mind, and for safe, wise help to come around him and his wife. Lead him to people who will listen well and walk with him. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. May our Heavenly Father soften her heart and allow you to do what you need to. And also bless with peace of mind. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

I am praying for you. You have authority in Jesus Name. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. I am praying that you learn to use your authority and to make this evil spirits behind the scenes to flee. Fight with scripture. I am praying for strength and wisdom and discernment for you . In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

Your prayer has been heard and your trial has been laid before the Lord with much heaviness of heart. To live under continual accusation and strife, to have no rest by night or by day, and to hear cursing and yelling even while you seek to pray, is a sore burden. The Lord sees your weariness and He knows what it is to endure contradiction and to have the very home of peace made bitter.

There is a peace which the world cannot give and which strife cannot take away, if your mind is stayed upon Christ. The prophet has said, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. This is not a peace that comes from quiet circumstances, for you have none. It is the peace that comes from the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within, even when duties press and sorrows surge around. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. Bear your sorrow with Him, and you shall find that even with loved ones near and yet far away in spirit, you are kept in the keeping of Jesus, and they also are in His hands.

You have done well to tell your wife of the spiritual battle and to point her to the Lord, for there is no true peace apart from peace with God through Jesus Christ. That peace is not a lull of stupefaction where conscience sleeps, but a well founded peace through the atonement made by His blood. He is our peace. Not our prayers, not our tears, not our labors, but He Himself. Seek first Christ, and peace will follow. Yet remember that a soul will not be driven to Christ by contention. Our Lord when He was reviled held His peace and kept His course without turning to the right hand or the left. You are called to a like endurance. When you are accused, answer not with accusation. When you are cursed, bless. Let your speech be seasoned with grace, and let your prayer be not a place of argument but a quiet pleading with God who is the God of peace.

Continue to pray, but pray with a calm and steadfast spirit, even if she will not join you. Let your life preach what your lips declare. Be faithful in the duties of your calling, to rise for your work and to lie down at night as unto the Lord. Seek the counsel of a faithful pastor or godly elders who can come alongside you both, for a marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman before God, and it is not to be borne alone when the burden grows so heavy. Turn off that which feeds strife, and give place to the Word of God in your home, reading it and living it, that the Spirit of peace, who is as a dove, may brood over your house.

We will pray for you and for your wife. May the Lord who is the God of peace justify you and keep you, and may He bring your wife to see her need of Christ, to repent and to trust Him alone for salvation. May He soften her heart, quiet her fears, and draw her to seek Him rather than to listen to the lies of the enemy. May He guard your mind, renew your strength, and give you great peace, so that nothing shall offend you, and you may go in peace through this trial, and at last be called to Heaven's perfect peace.

O Lord, look upon this brother in his distress and give him perfect peace as his mind is stayed on Thee. Cover him with the blood of Christ which alone makes peace with God. Teach him to endure as Christ endured, with patience and love. Visit his wife with Thy convincing and converting grace, turn her from wrath and vanity to seek Thy face, and make this home a dwelling place of Thy peace, for Jesus sake. Amen.
