Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your need so honestly. I have prayed for you in the name of Jesus for relief from this fever and gastric pain, and I continue to hold you before the Lord.
Scripture shows us how deeply Jesus cares about these very kinds of suffering. When He entered Peter's house He found Peter's mother in law lying sick with a fever, a common and often serious illness in that region, and He touched her hand and the fever left her and she rose up and served them. On that same day, after healing a man with leprosy and healing the servant of a centurion, many others who were sick and oppressed were brought to Him in the evening and He healed them. This reveals His authority and power over the physical realm, over sickness and infirmity, just as He has power over the material world and over the spiritual realm.
Matthew, writing by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, tells us that all of this fulfilled what was spoken through Isaiah, that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Isaiah's prophecy is often limited only to spiritual healing, but Matthew applies it directly to physical healing as well. When Jesus took bread and said this is My body which is broken for you, He was pointing to that same truth, that His suffering was for our whole need, spiritual and physical.
I believe very strongly that God still heals today. I also have learned that healing comes in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate, as with Peter's mother in law. Only once do we read of a gradual healing in the ministry of Jesus, yet any healing process is divine. God has established healing processes within our bodies, and that natural process is no less from Him, for He is the Creator of nature and of those processes. There are also healings that touch the mind and emotions, and we know there is a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. A joyful heart does good like medicine, while distress in the inner person can affect the body.
There is much about healing that I do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others wait longer. What I do know is that Jesus never used His power to serve Himself, but He was always willing to use it to meet the needs of others, and He is the same today. He is compassionate toward you in this pain.
So I pray for you now that the Lord Jesus, who bore your sicknesses, would touch you and lift this fever and calm this pain in your stomach, whether by His immediate touch or through the healing processes He has placed in your body and through the care of doctors and good physical care. May He give you rest, comfort, and strength, and may He also bring peace to your heart and mind as you trust Him. Seek wise medical help as needed, care for your body with rest and cleanliness, and keep looking to Him.
May the Lord be near to you, ease your suffering, and restore you to health according to His perfect wisdom and love. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
