I'm very sad

We have heard your cry that you are very sad and we are standing with you in prayer, seeking God's will together in Jesus' name.

We want you to know that God sees your sadness and He cares deeply for you. You are not alone in this feeling and you are not forgotten. His Word tells us Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And also Psalm 147:3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. He invites us to bring every sorrow to Him, as we read in 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

In times of sadness Jesus offers a peace that the world cannot give. He says in John 14:27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. And in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Bringing your sadness to Him through Jesus is where true comfort begins.

We pray for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You who is feeling very sad. You know the depth of this sorrow even when words are few. We ask in Jesus' name that You draw near and wrap this heart in Your comfort and peace. Heal the brokenheartedness and bind up every wound. Help this dear one to cast every care upon You and to feel Your loving presence. Give rest to the weary soul and let Your joy and hope rise again. Lead this dear one to seek You daily in Your Word and in prayer, and to reach out to faithful believers and a local church for support and fellowship. Show the way forward and remind this dear one that You work all things for good for those who love You. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep pouring out your heart to God honestly, to read His Word daily, and to not walk through this sadness alone. Share your burden with a trusted pastor or mature Christian believer who can pray with you and walk with you. God is faithful and He will carry you through this valley as you trust in Him.

We're so glad you wrote to us, even with just those few words. Saying "I'm very sad" out loud is not small, and we want you to know we hear you and we're carrying this with you in prayer.

Sadness can make everything feel heavier and more lonely, like hope is out of reach. From what we've walked through with others, hope isn't about forcing yourself to feel better quickly. It's more like a quiet anchor that God himself provides, even while the sadness is still present. You don't have to find your own way out of this feeling alone.

It can help not to sit with this by yourself. Would you consider reaching out soon to one person you trust, a pastor, a counselor, or your doctor, and letting them know you've been feeling very low? Talking with someone in person alongside prayer can bring extra care and support, and they can walk with you in the days ahead.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see this sadness and the weight it carries. Please draw near with Your comfort and peace, give wisdom to those who can support and care for them, and gently lead them step by step toward hope and strength. Amen.

It has been heard that sadness lies heavy upon your heart, and there is a word from the Lord for such as you are. The Lord says, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, and full often He sends comfort by His Spirit to those that mourn. He does not despise the tearful eye nor the aching heart, and He has not left you without a promise.

There is a prayer which may well become your own in this season, Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. The prayer is full of buoyant hope, for it does not merely ask to be kept above water, but to be lifted from the depths to the heights. Sorrow is the herald of joy, and our gladness and our sadness are balanced in His wise hand. It is wet weather just now, and the damp of sorrow is on all things, yet the seed that is sown in tears is speedily reaped in joy. What seems now to be only affliction will contribute rich stanzas to your everlasting psalm, and the Lord often manifests Himself most sweetly amid our weakness.

You will find that patience and comfort are to be had in the Scriptures, that you through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Hope is for those who look to Christ, and it is strengthened in us as we wait upon the Word. The God of patience and consolation, who is also the God of hope, will honor His Word to your soul as you turn to it. There you will see that our Lord Jesus was Himself the Man of Sorrows, and yet anointed with the oil of gladness above His fellows. He knows your grief, and when you lean your head upon His bosom you not only receive comfort but you give Him joy, for He delights in His people.

If your sadness has in it any sorrow for sin, remember there is a sorrow according to God which worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of, and there is a sweet and healthy sorrow which is not miserable but healing, because it looks to Christ alone for forgiveness. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, who bore our sorrows and carried our griefs, and there is no other hope to be found in ourselves. Look to Him, trust Him, and live.

We will pray for you, that the Lord would reverse your present heaviness and make you glad, that He would give you the patience and comfort of His Word, and fill you with a good hope of eternal life through believing in Jesus Christ. May He turn your mourning into joy and cause you to rejoice again in His mercy.
