We lift up your friend with heavy hearts, standing in the gap for him before the throne of grace. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, knowing that it is only through Him that we have access to Your presence and the power to intercede for others. Your Word tells us in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." Lord, we cast this single father’s burdens upon You, for You care deeply for him and his precious child.
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would surround this father with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Depression and hurt can feel like a heavy fog, but we know that You are the Light that pierces the darkness. Lord, shine Your light into his life, reminding him that he is never alone, for You have promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Strengthen him with Your might, for he is doing the noble and challenging work of raising a child on his own. Your Word says in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."
We also pray for his child, Lord. May this little one feel Your love and comfort in a special way, and may they grow to know You as their Heavenly Father who is always near. Provide this family with godly community, believers who will come alongside them, offer practical help, and speak life into their circumstances. Father, we ask that You would open doors of provision, whether through employment, financial blessings, or support from Your people, so that this father does not feel overwhelmed by the weight of responsibility.
Lord, if there are areas in his life where sin or unbelief may be contributing to his struggles, we ask that You would reveal them to him in love. Your Word says in Psalm 32:3-5, "When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin." If there is unforgiveness, bitterness, or unconfessed sin, bring it to light so that he may experience the freedom that comes from repentance and Your forgiveness.
We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness in the name of Jesus Christ. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that this father and his child are covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We speak healing over his emotions, restoration to his joy, and renewed strength for each day.
Father, we also pray for his future. If it is Your will, prepare a godly wife for him, a woman who loves You above all else, who will come alongside him as a helper suitable for him (Genesis 2:18), and who will love his child as her own. Until that time, give him the wisdom to lead his household in a way that honors You, raising his child in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). May their home be a place of love, laughter, and godly discipline, where Your presence is felt and Your Word is cherished.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your perfect timing. May this father come to know You more deeply through this season, and may he find his strength and identity in Christ alone. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
To your friend, we want to encourage you with the truth that God sees his pain and is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). The role of a single father is not an easy one, but it is a sacred calling, and God equips those He calls. Lean on Him daily, for He is your strength when you are weak. Seek out a local church where you can find support, accountability, and fellowship with other believers. You are not alone, and your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Christ, for He is the only One who can bring true peace, purpose, and eternal hope.
