We hear your cry for help, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s face together. You’ve turned to God’s Word, that is the right place to begin, and yet the answers seem distant. Let us first affirm that God’s promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20), and His will does not change. If you have not yet received what He has promised, it is not because His arm is too short, but because there may be obstacles between you and His blessing that need to be addressed in prayer and obedience.
The Bible tells us, “Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16 WEB). But we must come in faith, without wavering, and with a heart that is willing to submit to His will. James 1:6-7 warns, “But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.” Have you examined your heart for any unconfessed sin, doubt, or disobedience that may be hindering your prayers? The psalmist writes, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear” (Psalm 66:18 WEB).
We also must ask: Are you praying in the name of Jesus? There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Himself said, “Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you” (John 16:23 WEB). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, or if you are praying without acknowledging His authority and mediation, your prayers may not be reaching the throne of grace as they should. Salvation is found in no one else, and it is only through faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection that we are reconciled to God.
Let us also consider whether you are truly aligning your will with God’s. Sometimes we ask for things that seem good to us, but they may not be in line with His perfect plan. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth” (Matthew 6:10 WEB). Are you willing to accept God’s answer, even if it is not what you hoped for? His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His timing is perfect.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is weary and burdened. Lord, You see the struggles and the longing in their heart, and You know the promises You have spoken over their life. We ask that You would reveal any areas of disobedience, doubt, or sin that may be hindering their prayers. Cleanse their heart, Lord, and renew a right spirit within them. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your ways, even when they cannot see the outcome.
Father, we declare that Your Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11), and we stand on the truth that You are faithful to fulfill Your promises. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to wait on You with hope. If there is any unforgiveness, bitterness, or pride in their heart, we ask that You would uproot it and replace it with Your love and peace. Teach them to pray according to Your will, and give them the patience to endure until the answer comes.
Lord, if they have not fully surrendered their life to Jesus, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself. May they confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9). Let them experience the fullness of Your grace and the power of Your Holy Spirit.
We rebuke any spirit of delay, discouragement, or confusion in Jesus’ name. We declare that the enemy has no hold over their life, and we command every obstacle to be removed so that Your promises may be fulfilled. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let them know that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with all your heart. Spend time in His Word daily, and let it guide your prayers. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you and encourage you in your faith. Remember, God is not slow concerning His promises (2 Peter 3:9), and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep pressing in, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9).

O Little Faith, you are in trouble and you know not how to solve your problems, yet you have taken the wisest step, for you cry out, "Lord, help me." This is the very thing your weakness drives you to do, and it is a blessed work of the Spirit that you still turn to prayer when you are sinking. Do not despise the day of small things; your trembling plea is heard in heaven, even if it seems to you little better than unbelief. The Lord Jesus acknowledges the faintest spark of genuine trust.
You say you have read the promises and seen God's will, yet you have not been able to receive them. Now, go not to a prayer book nor to the forms of others, but go straight to God and say, "O Lord, You know what I need." True prayer is pleading with the Most High, spreading your case before Him and pressing your suit with all the arguments you can muster. What are these arguments? His own promises. If you have a promise, you have a right to ask for it. But have you taken the promise and turned it into a plea? Have you laid hold of the covenant and said, "Do as Thou hast said"? If you go beyond the range of the divine promises, you go beyond the range of assured expectation; but within that blessed circle, faith has firm footing.
Consider Jacob at the Jabbok. His prayer was highly argumentative; he poured out his heart with humility and yet with holy determination. You must do the same. The great object of faith, next to the Person of Christ, is the promise of God. If you were more familiar with His promises, you would not flounder so long in the Slough of Despond. Some promises are unconditional and of sovereign grace, but many are laid hold of by the work of faith, the faith that does exploits. Faith is not merely believing that the promise exists; it is dropping down into the arms of the Promiser. It is resting your whole weight upon Christ. Have you that reliance? Or has your faith been a bare assent that never ventures everything upon Him?
Perhaps the delay is because your prayer has been hindered by sin unconfessed, or by a faith that thinks lightly of past transgression. Faith and repentance are inseparable twins. A faith that does not produce hatred of sin is the faith of devils, not the faith of God’s elect. Examine yourself honestly before the Lord. Yet even if you have failed, do not cry, "Depart from me," as if despair were humility. Rather say, "Come nearer to me, for I am a sinful man." That is faith preventing humility from degenerating into unbelief.
Above all, take the shield of faith. It will quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, whether they be doubts, fears, or long years of disappointment. Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time. Do not forsake the closet; do not give up private devotion. Grow more earnest, more resolved, until your cry becomes a constant, vehement pleading that cannot be denied. You are not forgotten. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. Wait on Him with expectation, for He has promised to do unto you according to your faith. Go now, plead the precious blood of Jesus, and let your midnight hour witness the fervor of your prayer, even as His did. The victory that overcomes the world, even your faith, shall be yours as you cling to Him who is able to save to the uttermost.

The promises of God are not like earthly treasure that can be seized simply by reading them; they must be grasped by a living faith that wakes from sleep and acts. You say you have seen God's will and read His oaths, yet for years you have not received them. Consider carefully: is it the word you lack, or the wakefulness? If we sleep, even the help of others profits nothing, and I fear you may have grown drowsy with long delay, mistaking familiarity with the page for the vigilance of the soul.
You must do your own part first. The Spirit does not overwhelm the unwilling; when you stir up your will and begin, then help from above rushes in. You can accomplish no good thing apart from that divine aid, yet unless you contribute your share, a turning, a crying out, a determined rising, you will not obtain it. To think you have no need of prayer, no need to rouse yourself violently, is the very trap of the enemy. He holds the world captive through our indolence, and many who call themselves sons of God gain nothing by that high birth when they fail to show an excellency worthy of it.
Do not merely read the promises as ink on a page. The new covenant is written on hearts of flesh by the Spirit, not carved in stone for passive observation. If the kingdom were only a matter of hearing, the harlots and publicans who repented would not have entered before many who studied the Law. The devil mandates savage passions and offers hell, yet we chase after him; Christ promises rest and a kingdom, and we grow listless. Love Christ for Himself, not as a trader reckoning gain, wake, and you will find rest for your soul.

Stir yourself to actual obedience in some small thing, and the flame will grow. You are not alone in this struggle. Many who love God’s Word and long to walk in His will find themselves stuck between the promises they read and the reality they live. I want to encourage you: the fact that you see the gap does not mean you lack faith or that God’s promises have failed. It means God is drawing you into a deeper kind of trust.
Everything God has ever promised comes to us through faith, not through perfect performance. He gave the law to show us we can never make ourselves righteous, so that we would be driven to Jesus Christ and receive His righteousness as a gift. You are already a child of Abraham by faith in Him, and that means every blessing God pledged to Abraham belongs to you, not because you deserve it, but because you are an heir through the Spirit. But these blessings are not unlocked by trying harder or solving every problem on your own. They are received by simple, childlike reliance on the One who spoke them.
Often the blockage comes when we focus more on the size of the problem than on the God who is greater than any problem. I know the weariness of years of waiting. But remember, even the giants of faith in Scripture sometimes died not having received what was promised, yet they still trusted. Being a person of faith does not mean you never feel defeat or discouragement. Even Elijah, after a mighty victory, ran and hid in a cave. Faith is not a magic wand you rub and get instant results; it is a living dependence on God that He can sustain in every season. He has given each of us a measure of faith, and He will grow it as we keep coming to Him with honest need.
What you describe, reading, knowing, yet not receiving, may be a sign that you have been trying to mix faith with your own works. The Galatians began in the Spirit but then tried to perfect themselves in the flesh. It never works. The gospel preached must be mixed with faith in those who hear it. That means letting go of the idea that you must somehow solve all your problems before God will bless you. Instead, turn your gaze from the impossibility to the God who makes impossible things possible. He does not bless you as a reward for good behavior; He blesses you because He loves you, and Jesus bore every curse so you could freely receive.
Let this be a moment of honest examination, but not of self-condemnation. Ask yourself: Am I willing to let my life match what I say I believe? Genuine faith cannot stay passive; it will eventually show itself in action, even if that action is simply a stubborn refusal to let go of God’s promise in the dark. True faith clings to the character of God when circumstances scream otherwise. And sometimes that clinging is the most active thing you can do.
Bring your years of frustration to Him now, not as a failure, but as an offering of your poverty. He has chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith. Stop trying to figure out how God will do it, and simply trust that He will. Expect His blessing not because you have earned it, but because Jesus has secured it. God loves you far more than you can dream, and He is still at work, even when you cannot see it. Rest in that, and let your heart say, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.”

Instead, turn your gaze from the impossibility to the God who makes impossible things possible. He does not bless you as a reward for good behavior; He blesses you because He loves you, and Jesus bore every curse so you could freely receive.
Let this be a moment of honest examination, but not of self-condemnation. Ask yourself: Am I willing to let my life match what I say I believe? Genuine faith cannot stay passive; it will eventually show itself in action, even if that action is simply a stubborn refusal to let go of God’s promise in the dark. True faith clings to the character of God when circumstances scream otherwise. And sometimes that clinging is the most active thing you can do.
Bring your years of frustration to Him now, not as a failure, but as an offering of your poverty. He has chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith. Stop trying to figure out how God will do it, and simply trust that He will. Expect His blessing not because you have earned it, but because Jesus has secured it. God loves you far more than you can dream, and He is still at work, even when you cannot see it. Rest in that, and let your heart say, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.”
