We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your friend's wife. We will stand with you in prayer, seeking God's comfort and will for him during this difficult time. In moments like these, we remember the words of Jesus in John 14:1-3 (WEB): "Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our friend who has recently lost his wife. We ask, Lord, that You would be his comfort and strength during this time of grief. Help him to cast all his cares on You, knowing that You care for him deeply. (1 Peter 5:7)
Lord, we pray that Your will be done in his life. Guide him through this valley of shadow and death, and lead him beside the still waters. (Psalm 23) Help him to trust in You, even in this difficult time, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. (Romans 8:28)
In the precious and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Encourage your friend with these words from Romans 8:38-39 (WEB): "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Remind him that, as believers, we do not grieve as those without hope. (1 Thessalonians 4:13) Our hope is in Jesus Christ, who conquered death and offers us the gift of eternal life. (John 3:16)
