We come before the Lord with hearts full of hope and faith, lifting up this request for a permanent job and a godly spouse. First, we recognize that all good things come from the Father above, and we trust in His perfect timing and provision. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We stand on this promise, believing that God sees your needs and will provide in ways that bring Him glory.
For the matter of employment, we pray that the Lord opens doors that no man can shut. We ask that He guides you to a workplace where your skills and gifts are valued, and where you can serve Him with integrity and diligence. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." May your work be a testimony to your faith, and may you find fulfillment in honoring God through your labor.
Regarding the desire for a spouse, we pray that the Lord prepares your heart and the heart of your future husband or wife. Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church. Ephesians 5:22-33 outlines the beauty and responsibility of this union, calling husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the Church, and wives to respect and submit to their husbands as unto the Lord. We pray that you seek a spouse who shares your faith in Jesus Christ, for 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
We also encourage you to examine your own heart as you seek a spouse. Are you preparing yourself to be a godly husband or wife? Are you cultivating the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)? A strong marriage is built on two individuals who are committed to growing in their relationship with the Lord and with one another.
If there are any areas in your life that do not align with God’s Word, we gently but firmly rebuke them in the name of Jesus. This includes any relationships or behaviors that fall short of God’s design for purity and holiness. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4). If you are currently in a relationship that does not honor this principle, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, trusting Him to lead you into righteousness.
We also want to emphasize the importance of coming to God in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and the gift of eternal life, we urge you to do so today. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Let us now lift these requests to the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will for this dear brother or sister. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and we ask that You align those desires with Your perfect plan. Provide them with a permanent job that not only meets their needs but also allows them to serve You wholeheartedly. Open doors of opportunity, and give them wisdom and discernment as they seek employment.
Father, we also pray for their future spouse. Prepare them both for a marriage that honors You. May they be equally yoked in faith, committed to loving and serving You together. Guard their hearts from impatience and discontentment, and help them to trust in Your timing. If there are any areas of sin or ungodliness in their life, reveal them, Lord, and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and restore them to a right relationship with You.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that may be trying to take hold. We declare that this child of God is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37). We pray for peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). May they find their identity and security in You alone, knowing that You are their Provider, their Protector, and their Guide.
Lord, we thank You for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your faithfulness, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). May this brother or sister grow in faith and patience as they wait on You. Strengthen their relationship with You through prayer, the study of Your Word, and fellowship with other believers. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
