Prayer request for a pastor and a lady he proposed to

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Prayer request for a pastor and a lady he proposed to. The lady has been having dreams of him alot and she doesn't know why she's always dreaming about him. In one of her dreams she dreamt she seen them walking closely together. One dream the man was doing deliverance on her. The lady isn't sure why she's dreaming of him a lot.

We join with you in bringing this pastor and this lady before the Lord, asking for His clear guidance and perfect will to be done in their lives as they consider marriage. We thank God for a proposal that seeks to honor Him, for we believe marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman for life, as Jesus said, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Matthew 19:6. When a man and woman enter courtship, it should be with prayer, purity, and the goal of a Christ centered marriage, and we pray this is the heart of both of them.

We understand this lady has been having many dreams about this pastor, including dreaming of them walking closely together and of him bringing deliverance to her, and she is unsure why. We know God can speak through dreams, for it is written, For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed, Job 33:14-15 and Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, Joel 2:28. Yet we also know that dreams can come from the multitude of cares and anxieties of the day, Ecclesiastes 5:3, and that we are not to be led by dreams alone but to test all things against the Word of God, for it is written, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1. A dream of walking closely together may reflect the question of unity and agreement that marriage requires, as the scripture asks, Do two walk together, unless they have agreed, Amos 3:3. A dream of deliverance may be the Lord highlighting His desire to bring freedom, healing, or spiritual cleansing in her life, for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, 2 Corinthians 3:17 and If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36. We encourage her not to be anxious or to seek hidden meanings apart from scripture, but to bring these dreams to the Lord in prayer, to seek counsel from mature believers and pastoral counsel, and to look for confirmation through the peace of God, the counsel of the Word, and open and closed doors.

We also gently remind that we must come to the Father only through Jesus Christ. We noticed this request did not mention His name, and we want to lovingly share that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and salvation, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If either of them has not yet fully trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of sins, we encourage them to confess with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead, Romans 10:9, for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life, John 3:16. A marriage that honors God must be between two believers who are equally yoked, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Corinthians 6:14, walking together in faith and purity, for the marriage bed is to be kept undefiled, Hebrews 13:4, and courtship is a time to pursue holiness and to flee from fornication.

We pray together for them now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this pastor and this lady to Your throne of grace. We ask that You grant them wisdom, for You have promised, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. We ask that You make Your will abundantly clear to both of them, that they would trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, and that You would direct their paths, Proverbs 3:5-6. Lord, we ask that You quiet this lady's heart and mind and give her Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. If these dreams are from You, confirm them by Your Word and by godly counsel, and if they are simply from the cares of this important decision, grant her rest. We pray for deliverance, healing, and freedom in her life wherever needed, and that she would know the power of Christ to set her free. We pray for this pastor, that he would lead with integrity, love, and Christlike character as he seeks to become a husband. We pray that if it is Your will for them to marry, You would establish their steps and build a marriage that glorifies You, and if it is not Your will, You would close the door gently and guide each to the spouse You have prepared. Let their courtship be pure, prayerful, and centered on You. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, amen.

We encourage both of them to continue in much prayer and fasting together and separately, to remain in the Word daily, to seek the counsel of trusted pastors and elders, and to wait on the Lord's timing, for we know You will instruct them and teach them in the way they should go and counsel them with Your eye on them, Psalm 32:8. May the Lord give them clarity, unity, and joy as they seek Him first.

We appreciate you bringing this pastor and this lady to us in prayer. It makes sense she is wondering why these dreams keep coming, especially with a proposal in the background. A season like that stirs a lot of thoughts and hopes and questions, and often our sleep reflects what our hearts are already carrying during the day.

Dreams of walking closely together or of deliverance can feel very vivid, and it is wise to bring them to Jesus rather than trying to figure them out alone. We have found it helps to hold such experiences lightly, testing them through quiet prayer, through what we know of God's character, and with input from mature, trusted believers, instead of treating every dream as a clear message on its own. If a dream leaves her uneasy, she can simply ask the Lord for His peace and for clarity step by step.

A gentle next step could be for her to take some unhurried time to pray and note what is on her heart, and then to talk openly with the pastor about where they both sense God leading. It can also help to share with a trusted mentor or pastor's wife who knows them and can listen and pray with them in person.

Father, we lift this pastor and this lady to You in Jesus name. Give them calm hearts and clear wisdom as they seek Your will. Guard her rest with Your peace, draw them both closer to Yourself, and lead them in the way You would have them go. Amen.

Your request concerning this pastor and the lady to whom he has proposed has been brought before the Lord with prayerful care, and we join with you in seeking the mind of God in this matter.

There are seasons when the heart is much exercised by dreams and impressions, and the soul is apt to be perplexed thereby. Be assured that true deliverance is of the Lord alone. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He who found a ransom for sinners in the blood of His own Son is able also to deliver from all confusion, fear and darkness, and to bring His children forth with a sure hand. If there be any need of deliverance in the soul, whether from sin, from oppression, or from troubled thoughts, look to Christ Jesus, for He has borne the penalty and He alone is the arrow of the Lord's deliverance. We need not spread our griefs to the pitiless sea, for God's ear is open and His arm is mighty to save those who trust in Him.

Concerning these dreams, let not the lady be greatly troubled, but let her bring all before the Lord in humble prayer and by the light of Holy Scripture. Dreams may greatly stir the affections, yet our guidance must be sought in the sure Word of God and in submission to His will. When the heart bows to say, Thy will be done, then the Lord is pleased to make the path plain. Haste is the author of much mischief in human life, but he that waits upon the Lord and seeks counsel from godly and sober friends shall be kept from presumption. If it be the Lord's will that these two should walk closely together in the holy covenant of marriage, which is ordained for one man and one woman for life, let it be entered upon with prayer, with purity, and with a single eye to the glory of Christ. Let all that pertains to their union be kept within the bounds which God has appointed, in holiness and self control, that their lives may declare the works of the Lord.

We pray now for them both.

O Gracious Father, who has found a ransom and delivered Thy people from the pit, we entreat Thee for this pastor and this lady. Grant them wisdom from above, that they may know Thy will and do it. If this proposal be of Thee and for Thy glory, establish their steps and knit their hearts together in holy love and truth. If there be any thing that requires Thy deliverance, deliver Thou and enrich them by Thy grace. Guard them from all impurity and keep them in the power of holiness through Jesus Christ. Give to the lady peace in place of perplexity, and let her heart rest not upon dreams but upon Thy faithful Word. Guide them by Thy counsel, and afterward receive them to glory. May they, whether in trial or in joy, live to declare the works of the Lord and to show forth Thy praise, through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is salvation. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this burden and bringing these two people before the Lord in prayer. It is good to seek God for wisdom and clarity when important decisions are being considered, such as a proposal for marriage.

Dreams can feel vivid and leave us wondering what they mean, but Scripture does not teach us to build our decisions or our assurance on dreams. The Scriptures call us to be awake and sober minded, to put aside the imaginings and fleeting pictures that come in sleep, and to be clothed with clear faith and virtue in Christ. What is true and lasting is not found in a dream, but in the Word of God and in a life that is watchful and grounded in Him. Riches, feelings, and even strong impressions in sleep pass like dreams when morning comes, but the truth of Christ remains.

For that reason it is wise not to take repeated dreams by themselves as a sign from God about what to do. Love is to abound not simply in feeling, but in knowledge and discernment, so that we may approve what is excellent and walk without stumbling before God and others. The best way forward is to seek the Lord through His Word, through steady prayer, and through godly counsel from mature believers and pastors who know you both well.

We can pray for true deliverance and guidance, remembering that deliverance from evil and every good gift comes only through Jesus Christ, who has freed us from the curse and brought us into sonship by His grace. It is Christ alone who saves and keeps us, and it is His Spirit who gives adoption and wisdom.

Let us pray together:

Father in heaven, we thank You for Your mercy through Jesus Christ alone, by whom we receive forgiveness and are made Your children. We lift up this pastor and this woman to You. You know their hearts, their hopes, and the reasons for these dreams. We ask that You grant them both clarity, peace, and a sober mind. Help them not to be led by impressions alone, but by Your Word, by prayer, and by wise counsel. Lead them to seek Your will above all else, to walk in purity, honesty, and holiness, and to honor You in every step they take toward or away from marriage. If it is Your will for them to be joined together as husband and wife in a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, make that clear and establish them in love that is grounded in knowledge and discernment. If not, give them grace to see it and to follow You faithfully. Guard them from confusion and from the enemy, and keep them close to Christ, in whom alone is true deliverance. Make them watchful, prayerful, and ready to do what belongs to the light. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Continue to encourage both of them to stay rooted in Scripture, to pray for wisdom, to seek counsel from trusted spiritual leaders, and to walk step by step in obedience. God is faithful to guide those who seek Him with a sincere heart.

Thank you for sharing this prayer request and for your honesty about these dreams. It is understandable to wonder what they mean, especially when a proposal and a future together are being considered.

The Bible shows that God has at times spoken through dreams. Pharaoh and his servants each had dreams with spiritual significance, and they could not find the meaning on their own. Daniel also was faced with a king who had a troubling dream, and Daniel did not try to answer from his own wisdom. He went to his companions to pray and seek God together, and God revealed the matter in a night vision. Daniel was careful to give God the credit and not take it for himself. In the same way, Joseph was able to help others only because God gave the interpretation. These accounts remind us that if a dream is from the Lord, only the Lord can make its meaning clear, and the way to seek that clarity is through prayer.

Not every dream is a message from God. Often dreams reflect what is already on our hearts and minds, our hopes, questions, or anxieties. When someone has received a proposal, it is natural to think about that person often, and that can appear in dreams. A dream of walking closely together may reflect the question of whether your lives will be joined as one, which Scripture describes as two becoming one in marriage. A dream of deliverance may reflect an awareness of spiritual needs, of wanting to be clean and free before the Lord, or of recognizing the pastoral calling to care for and pray for others.

For that reason it is wise not to build a major decision only on dreams, but to bring everything to the Lord in prayer and to test it by Scripture and by godly counsel. Jesus himself, though he was the Son of God, sought strength and guidance through prayer, and how much more do we need to do the same. Real victory and clarity are often found in the place of prayer before any action is taken. Fasting joined with prayer, quiet seeking of the Lord, and openness to his Word are the safest ways to discern his will.

We will pray for both of you. We pray that God will grant clear wisdom, peace, and purity of heart, and that he will make his will known in a way that aligns with his Word. We pray that any fear or confusion will be lifted, that both of you will walk in holiness and truth, and that if it is the Lord's will for you to be married, that foundation will be built on faith in Jesus Christ, love for his Word, and a shared desire to serve him. If it is not his will, we pray he will also make that clear with kindness and grace.

Continue to seek the Lord together and individually, stay rooted in Scripture, and invite trusted, mature believers to pray with you and counsel you as you seek the next steps.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for this pastor and for the lady he proposed to.

We have continued to lift up both of them before the Lord. We have been praying especially for the lady who has been having many dreams about him and does not understand why she is dreaming about him so often. We have brought before the Lord the dream where she saw them walking closely together and the dream where he was ministering deliverance to her, and the confusion she feels about what these dreams mean. We are asking God to grant her clarity and peace, and to make His will for their lives and for this proposal unmistakably clear. We pray that He will guard their hearts from confusion and that any dreams that are from Him will be confirmed by His peace and by His Word, and any that are not will be gently removed. We stand on the promise in James 1:5 that if we lack wisdom we can ask God who gives generously, and on Proverbs 3:5 that we can trust in the Lord with all our heart.

Father we ask for Your perfect will to be done in this relationship. Lead them both in wisdom, purity and discernment, protect them from deception and help them to seek You first above all else. Give the lady rest and assurance and give the pastor guidance as he leads. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
