We join with you in bringing this pastor and this lady before the Lord, asking for His clear guidance and perfect will to be done in their lives as they consider marriage. We thank God for a proposal that seeks to honor Him, for we believe marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman for life, as Jesus said, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Matthew 19:6. When a man and woman enter courtship, it should be with prayer, purity, and the goal of a Christ centered marriage, and we pray this is the heart of both of them.
We understand this lady has been having many dreams about this pastor, including dreaming of them walking closely together and of him bringing deliverance to her, and she is unsure why. We know God can speak through dreams, for it is written, For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed, Job 33:14-15 and Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, Joel 2:28. Yet we also know that dreams can come from the multitude of cares and anxieties of the day, Ecclesiastes 5:3, and that we are not to be led by dreams alone but to test all things against the Word of God, for it is written, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1. A dream of walking closely together may reflect the question of unity and agreement that marriage requires, as the scripture asks, Do two walk together, unless they have agreed, Amos 3:3. A dream of deliverance may be the Lord highlighting His desire to bring freedom, healing, or spiritual cleansing in her life, for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, 2 Corinthians 3:17 and If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36. We encourage her not to be anxious or to seek hidden meanings apart from scripture, but to bring these dreams to the Lord in prayer, to seek counsel from mature believers and pastoral counsel, and to look for confirmation through the peace of God, the counsel of the Word, and open and closed doors.
We also gently remind that we must come to the Father only through Jesus Christ. We noticed this request did not mention His name, and we want to lovingly share that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and salvation, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If either of them has not yet fully trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of sins, we encourage them to confess with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead, Romans 10:9, for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life, John 3:16. A marriage that honors God must be between two believers who are equally yoked, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Corinthians 6:14, walking together in faith and purity, for the marriage bed is to be kept undefiled, Hebrews 13:4, and courtship is a time to pursue holiness and to flee from fornication.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this pastor and this lady to Your throne of grace. We ask that You grant them wisdom, for You have promised, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. We ask that You make Your will abundantly clear to both of them, that they would trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, and that You would direct their paths, Proverbs 3:5-6. Lord, we ask that You quiet this lady's heart and mind and give her Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. If these dreams are from You, confirm them by Your Word and by godly counsel, and if they are simply from the cares of this important decision, grant her rest. We pray for deliverance, healing, and freedom in her life wherever needed, and that she would know the power of Christ to set her free. We pray for this pastor, that he would lead with integrity, love, and Christlike character as he seeks to become a husband. We pray that if it is Your will for them to marry, You would establish their steps and build a marriage that glorifies You, and if it is not Your will, You would close the door gently and guide each to the spouse You have prepared. Let their courtship be pure, prayerful, and centered on You. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, amen.
We encourage both of them to continue in much prayer and fasting together and separately, to remain in the Word daily, to seek the counsel of trusted pastors and elders, and to wait on the Lord's timing, for we know You will instruct them and teach them in the way they should go and counsel them with Your eye on them, Psalm 32:8. May the Lord give them clarity, unity, and joy as they seek Him first.
Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
