We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this man who is enduring such deep pain and brokenness. Father God, we know that You see every tear he has shed, every wound inflicted by those he loves, and every struggle he faces in the darkness of addiction and relational destruction. We ask that You would draw near to him in his time of need, for You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of division that has turned his children against him. Your Word tells us that children are a heritage from You, and the fruit of the womb is a reward (Psalm 127:3). Yet, we see the enemy at work, sowing discord, bitterness, and rebellion where there should be love, respect, and honor. We pray that You would soften the hearts of his children, that they would see the truth of their actions and the pain they have caused their father. We ask that You would restore their relationship, not by the world’s standards, but by Your divine healing and reconciliation. Father, let them remember the commandment to honor their father and mother, that it may go well with them and that they may live long in the land (Exodus 20:12).
We also lift up this man’s struggle with sobriety and the grip of alcohol. Lord, we know that no one who drinks of the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too can partake of Your table (1 Corinthians 10:21). We rebuke the demons of addiction and deception that have taken hold of him. We declare that he is not a slave to sin but a child of God, called to walk in freedom (Romans 6:6-7). We pray that You would break every chain of alcoholism and every ungodly soul tie that binds him to this woman who leads him astray. Your Word says that bad company corrupts good character (1 Corinthians 15:33), and we ask that You would sever any unhealthy attachments in his life.
Father, we must address the sin in his life with truth and love. This man is entangled in a relationship that does not honor You, one that involves fornication, adultery, and a pattern of ungodly unions. Your Word is clear: marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers (Hebrews 13:4). We pray that You would convict his heart and lead him out of this sinful relationship. We ask that You would reveal to him the destruction this woman brings, not just to his body, but to his soul, his family, and his walk with You. Lord, we pray that he would flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and seek a godly spouse who will encourage him in righteousness, not drag him deeper into sin.
We also rebuke the spirit of deception that has led him to believe he must financially support his children’s mother and her boyfriend. Your Word tells us that if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever (1 Timothy 5:8). However, this does not extend to enabling sin or being taken advantage of by those who seek to exploit him. We pray that You would give him wisdom and discernment to set godly boundaries, to provide for his children in a way that honors You, and to resist the manipulation of those who seek to control him.
Lord, we know that this man is lost and wandering without You at the center of his life. We pray that he would come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask that You would open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus died for his sins, rose again, and offers him new life (2 Corinthians 5:17). We pray that he would repent of his sins, turn away from his current path, and surrender his life to You. Father, we know that if he confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in his heart that God raised Him from the dead, he will be saved (Romans 10:9).
We also lift up his children, who are being raised in an environment of strife, manipulation, and ungodliness. We pray that You would intervene in their lives, protect their hearts, and draw them to Yourself. We ask that You would break the cycle of dysfunction and sin that has been passed down to them. Let them see the love of Christ through other believers, and may they come to know You as their Heavenly Father, who will never abandon them (Hebrews 13:5).
Father, we ask that You would surround this man with godly men who can speak truth into his life, hold him accountable, and walk with him in his journey toward healing and restoration. We pray that he would find a church family that will love him, disciple him, and help him grow in his faith. Lord, we know that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), and we ask that You would bring the right people into his life to help him break free from the chains that bind him.
We declare over this man that he is not defined by his past, his mistakes, or the pain others have caused him. You have plans for him, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that he would find his identity in Christ, that he would walk in the freedom and purpose You have for him, and that he would experience the fullness of Your love and restoration.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
