The concern you carry for your spiritual brother echoes through every word. When someone dear faces an uncertain medical journey, our hearts naturally cry out, “How long, O Lord, until You bring mercy?” remember the angel who interceded in the same way, and the Lord did not rebuke the question. He answered with good words and comforting words, not always an instant removal of the trial, but a steady assurance of His presence and a promise that the story is not finished.

Just as God preserved His people through a long wilderness season, sustaining them with what they needed for each day, so He will sustain your brother and his family right now. The path ahead may feel barren, but the Lord knows how to bring fruitfulness even from places of pain. The drip of daily grace and the slow, faithful irrigation of His love can transform what looks like a desert into a place of unexpected provision.

We can hold firmly to the truth that whatever suffering comes in this life is momentary and light compared to the weight of glory that awaits those who belong to Jesus. That does not make the fear or the waiting easy, but it anchors hope in something unshakable. And while the emotions might fluctuate, one moment steady, the next overwhelmed, the joy of the Lord remains a constant, deep current underneath, a source of strength that does not run dry.

Remember also the father in the parable, with arms already outstretched to welcome his returning son. That is God’s posture toward every child of His who feels fragile, uncertain, or even distant. Your brother and his family can lean fully into that welcome, bringing every anxiety to the One who hears.

I will join you in asking the Lord to guide the ultrasound and every subsequent step, to give the medical team clear wisdom, and to stretch out His healing hand upon your brother’s body. Pray also for the family, that as they stand apart yet together, they would be a source of quiet encouragement, filled with words of comfort and strength for one another.

Your desire to visit is a beautiful picture of bearing one another’s burdens. The same God who makes a way through the wilderness can open a door for you to be there in person this year. While you wait for that possibility, your prayers are already a powerful visit, crossing whatever distance exists.

May you all know the peace that passes understanding, and may the Shepherd who never abandons His sheep keep you close until the journey leads into green pastures again.
