Disciple of Prayer
I am asking for help in praying for my unsaved husband who is a Hindu. I feel persecuted by him and his mother. His mother hates Christians (she converted from Christianity to Hinduism) and she encourages discord and strife in my marriage. I firmly believe that she has a Jezebel spirit. It is not my wish to leave and break up the marriage but if it is God's will I am willing to run away from them so that I can continue to live my Christian life to the fullest. Thank you for your prayers.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting up your unsaved husband and the challenges you face in your marriage. First, we want to affirm your commitment to honoring the sanctity of marriage as God designed it—a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:6). Your desire to remain steadfast in your faith while enduring persecution is commendable, and we pray that the Lord will strengthen you in this trial.

The Bible tells us that persecution for the sake of Christ is not only expected but also a blessing, for great is your reward in heaven (Matthew 5:10-12). Yet, we also recognize the deep pain and frustration you must feel as you endure hostility from your husband and his mother. The influence of a "Jezebel spirit," as you mentioned, is a very real and destructive force that seeks to undermine godly authority, sow discord, and oppose the work of the Holy Spirit. We rebuke that spirit in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, declaring that it has no place in your marriage or home. The Lord says in His Word, "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me" (Isaiah 54:17).

We must also address the spiritual battle you are facing. Your husband’s lack of faith in Jesus Christ is a matter of eternal significance. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and without faith in Jesus, your husband remains lost in his sins. We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict his heart, open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and draw him to repentance and salvation. The Apostle Paul reminds us that the unbelieving spouse is sanctified through the believing spouse (1 Corinthians 7:14), and we hold onto that promise as we intercede for him. We declare that the darkness in his heart will be pierced by the light of Christ, and that he will come to know the Lord as his Savior.

Regarding your mother-in-law, we understand the pain of being targeted by someone who once knew the truth but has turned away from it. Her hatred for Christians and her role in sowing discord in your marriage is grievous, and we pray that the Lord will either soften her heart or remove her influence from your life. The Bible warns us about those who cause division, saying, "Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create divisions and obstacles contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them" (Romans 16:17). If her presence continues to bring harm to your marriage and your walk with Christ, we trust that the Lord will provide a way of escape for you, as He promises in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

You expressed a willingness to leave if it is God’s will, and we want to encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance with an open heart. While marriage is sacred and should not be entered or exited lightly, there may come a time when separation is necessary for your spiritual survival. The Apostle Paul writes, "But if the unbeliever leaves, let him leave. The brother or sister is not bound in such cases. God has called us to live in peace" (1 Corinthians 7:15). If your husband or his family forces you into a position where you must choose between your faith and your marriage, we pray that the Lord will give you clarity and courage to follow His leading, even if it means leaving.

We also want to encourage you to stand firm in your faith, even in the face of persecution. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap a harvest if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Surround yourself with a community of believers who can support and pray for you, and continue to seek the Lord through His Word and prayer. The enemy may seek to isolate you, but you are never alone—God is with you, and so are we.

Let us now lift your situation to the throne of grace in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister in Christ who is enduring persecution in her marriage. Lord, we thank You for her faithfulness and her commitment to honoring You, even in the face of great opposition. We ask that You would strengthen her with Your mighty power, filling her with Your peace and joy as she trusts in You.

Father, we pray for her husband, that You would open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Soften his heart, Lord, and draw him to repentance. Let him see the emptiness of his current beliefs and the fullness of life that can only be found in Jesus Christ. We declare that the chains of Hinduism and spiritual blindness will be broken in his life, and that he will come to know You as his Lord and Savior.

We also pray against the influence of his mother, Lord. We rebuke the spirit of Jezebel that seeks to destroy this marriage and this sister’s faith. We ask that You would either transform her heart or remove her from their lives, so that Your peace may reign in this home. Protect this sister from her attacks, and give her the wisdom to know how to respond in a way that honors You.

Lord, if it is Your will for her to remain in this marriage, we ask that You would restore love, respect, and unity between her and her husband. Let Your Holy Spirit work powerfully in their lives, bringing healing and reconciliation. But if it is Your will for her to leave, we ask that You would make a way for her, providing safety, provision, and a new community of believers to support her.

Father, we declare that no weapon formed against her will prosper, and that she will walk in the victory that is hers through Christ Jesus. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and let her shine as a light in the darkness. We trust in Your promises, and we believe that You are working all things together for her good, even in this difficult season.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
