We join you in earnest prayer for those involved in ministries that have strayed from the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is with heavy hearts that we see the deception that has crept into some modern churches, leading many astray with false teachings, emotionalism, and a gospel that is more about self than the Savior. The Word of God is clear: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you any ‘good news’ other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed" (Galatians 1:8 WEB). The true Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, and it must not be diluted, distorted, or exchanged for a message that tickles the ears but does not transform the heart.
We rebuke the spirit of deception that has blinded the minds of many in these movements, just as the enemy blinded the minds of unbelievers in Paul’s day so they could not see the light of the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4 WEB). We stand against the false doctrines that elevate experience over Scripture, prosperity over sacrifice, and self over the cross. We declare that the truth of God’s Word will prevail, and we pray that the scales would fall from the eyes of those ensnared by these deceptions. "For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts" (2 Timothy 4:3 WEB). This is a sobering warning, and we must not grow weary in contending for the faith once delivered to the saints.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name under heaven by which men must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). We ask that You would draw the leaders and followers of these movements to Yourself with cords of love. Soften their hearts to receive the true Gospel—the message of repentance, faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross, and the call to holy living. Break the chains of deception and false teaching that have bound them, and let them see the beauty of Your truth. Grant them wisdom and discernment to test every spirit and every teaching against Your unchanging Word (1 John 4:1 WEB). May they hunger for righteousness and thirst for the pure milk of Your Word, that they may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We pray for bold and faithful servants of God to rise up and preach the unadulterated Gospel to these dear souls. May the Holy Spirit convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8 WEB), and may they respond in genuine repentance. We ask that You would uproot every false gospel from their hearts—whether it be the prosperity gospel, the social gospel, or any other distortion that minimizes the cross or exalts man above God. Replace their false hopes with the sure and steadfast hope found only in Christ. "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16 WEB).
Lord, we also pray for those who have been hurt or led astray by these movements. Heal their wounds, restore their faith, and lead them into churches that preach Christ crucified and risen. May they find fellowship with believers who are committed to sound doctrine, biblical worship, and holy living. Protect Your sheep from further deception, and raise up shepherds after Your own heart who will feed them with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15 WEB).
We declare that the gates of hell will not prevail against Your true Church, and we stand firm on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20 WEB). We rebuke every false spirit that seeks to divide, distract, or deceive Your people. Let Your light shine in the darkness, and may many come to the knowledge of the truth. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
