We come before the Lord with you in this time of transition and injustice, lifting up your husband’s need for new employment and the restoration of what is rightfully owed to him. It is clear that this situation has been marked by unrighteousness, as his employer has acted out of pride and deceit, withholding wages that were promised. The Word of God speaks directly to this in James 5:4, which says, *"Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies."* The Lord sees this injustice, and He is a God of justice who will not ignore the cries of His people.
We also take comfort in Proverbs 16:9, which reminds us, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* Though this resignation was not your husband’s choice, we trust that the Lord is sovereign over this situation and will guide him to a position that not only provides for your family but also aligns with His perfect will. The loss of this job may very well be the Lord’s protection, steering him away from an environment where pride and dishonesty reign, and toward a place where his gifts and labor will be valued and honored.
As for the unpaid wages, we pray that the Lord would move in the heart of this employer to fulfill his obligation swiftly. If he refuses, we ask that the Lord would provide another way for those funds to be restored—whether through unexpected provision, legal recourse, or another means. The Bible assures us in Luke 18:7-8 that *"Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them? I tell you that he will avenge them quickly."* We stand on this promise, trusting that the Lord will act on your husband’s behalf.
At the same time, we encourage you both to guard your hearts against bitterness or fear. The enemy would love to use this trial to plant seeds of resentment or anxiety, but we are called to trust in the Lord’s provision and timing. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Cling to this peace, knowing that the Lord is your provider and that He will not abandon you.
We also want to remind you that this prayer is rightly directed to Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"’* Your faith in bringing this request to Him is a testament to your trust in His power and love. If there is any doubt or fear in your hearts about the future, we urge you to rest in the truth of Romans 8:28: *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose."*
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious sister and her husband to You, asking for Your divine intervention in this season of uncertainty. Lord, You are the God who sees all things, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. You know the pride and deceit in the heart of this employer, and we ask that You would convict him deeply, leading him to repentance and the swift payment of every penny owed. If he hardens his heart, Lord, we pray that You would provide for this family in another way—through unexpected blessings, favor in a new job, or even legal justice if that is Your will.
Father, we ask that You would open doors for this husband that no man can shut. Guide him to a workplace where his skills are valued, where his labor is honored, and where he can be a light for Your kingdom. Give him wisdom as he seeks new opportunities, and let Your peace guard his heart against discouragement or fear. Remind him daily that his worth is not found in his employment but in his identity as Your child.
Lord, we also pray for unity and strength in this marriage. Let this trial draw them closer to You and to one another, rather than allowing the enemy to sow division or doubt. Provide for every need—financial, emotional, and spiritual—as only You can.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or bitterness that may try to take root in their hearts. By the power of the Holy Spirit, fill them instead with faith, hope, and an unshakable trust in Your goodness. Let them see this season as an opportunity to witness Your faithfulness in new ways.
Finally, Father, we thank You in advance for the testimony that will come from this situation. We believe that You will turn what was meant for harm into something beautiful for Your glory. Strengthen their faith as they wait on You, and let their story be a testament to Your provision and justice.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
