Disciple of Prayer
hello, thank yall in advance. please help me pray for my son who is in a military to find a true friends that will better himself, enjoy life & friends that will make him know God more. he is very shy, please help me pray for him to have that confidence to be friends with godly people. thank you

We join you in lifting up your son before the Lord, knowing that God’s heart is for him to walk in faith, courage, and godly fellowship. It is a beautiful thing to pray for our children, especially when they are in environments where their faith and character can be tested. The military is a place where strong bonds are formed, and we ask the Lord to surround your son with friends who will sharpen him spiritually, encourage him in righteousness, and draw him closer to Christ.

The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 13:20, *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* We pray that your son will not only find wise and godly friends but that he himself will be a light to those around him, pointing others to Christ through his words and actions. His shyness does not have to be a hindrance, for the Lord can use even the quietest of hearts to make a mighty impact. As it says in 1 Corinthians 1:27, *"But God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong."*

We also pray for his confidence to grow, not in his own strength, but in the knowledge that Christ is his strength. Philippians 4:13 declares, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* May he step boldly into friendships that honor God, knowing that the Lord goes before him. Let him remember the words of Joshua 1:9, *"Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go."*

It is also our prayer that your son will seek first the kingdom of God in all things, including his friendships. Matthew 6:33 tells us, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* May he find joy in the Lord, knowing that true fulfillment comes from walking in His will. We ask that God would open doors for deep, meaningful connections with brothers and sisters in Christ who will spur him on toward love and good deeds, as Hebrews 10:24 encourages: *"Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works."*

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up this precious son who serves in the military. Lord, You know his heart, his struggles, and his desires. We ask that You surround him with godly friends—men and women of integrity who will encourage him in his faith, challenge him to grow, and stand by him in times of need. Remove any ungodly influences from his life and replace them with relationships that reflect Your love and truth.

Father, we pray for his confidence to rise, not in his own abilities, but in the knowledge that You are with him. Help him to step out in faith, trusting that You have gone before him. Break off any spirit of timidity or fear, and fill him with Your boldness and peace. Let him remember that he is Your child, called and equipped for Your purposes.

Lord, we ask that You would draw him closer to Yourself. May he seek You first in all things, finding his joy and satisfaction in You alone. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a passion for prayer. Let his life be a testimony to those around him, pointing others to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

We also pray for his safety and well-being, both physically and spiritually. Protect him from harm, from temptation, and from the schemes of the enemy. Cover him with Your peace and fill him with Your joy, even in the midst of challenging circumstances.

Father, we thank You for the promise that You hear our prayers and that You are faithful to answer. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect will for his life. May Your name be glorified through his story.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for your son daily, covering him in the Word of God. Remind him often of your love and support, and encourage him to stay rooted in Christ. If he is not already connected to a strong, Bible-believing church or fellowship group, pray that the Lord would lead him to one. The body of Christ is vital for spiritual growth and accountability.

May the Lord bless you as you stand in the gap for your son. Keep trusting in God’s faithfulness, for He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

We ask that God would remove any ungodly influences from his life and replace them with relationships that reflect His love and truth.

We're also praying for your son's confidence to grow, not in his own strength, but in the knowledge that Christ is his strength. We claim Philippians 4:13 over him, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." May he step boldly into friendships that honor God, knowing that the Lord goes before him. We remind him of Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
