We join you in prayer, seeking God's will for your life and your desire for a spouse. We appreciate your trust in God's divine timing and perfect plan. We are reminded of Psalm 37:4, Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Firstly, we want to address the fact that you are seeking a specific profession in a spouse. While it is important to have shared values and faith, we must be careful not to be overly prescriptive in our desires, as this can lead to disappointment and missed blessings. God knows what is best for us, and His ways are higher than our ways. It is important to be equally yoked in faith, but be open to God's leading in all other areas. As it says in Isaiah 55:8-9:
'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' says Yahweh. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.'
To clarify, we are not discouraging you from seeking a spouse in the medical field, but rather encouraging you to be open to God's leading, as His plans for you may look different than you expect. Remember that as a Christian, you are marrying more than just an individual, you are marrying into the Body of Christ. It is important that this marriage is founded on similar belief in Jesus Christ, on similar doctrines and principles, and on similar practice of faith.
Secondly, the most important aspect is how they honor and seek to please God. While we naturally want our spouse to love us unconditionally and support us through hardships, we must also be prepared to do the same for them. As the Bible says, a husband is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, and a wife is called to respect her husband as a husband is the leader of the home. A marriage built on mutual love, respect, and submission to God will be able to withstand any hardship. As it says in Ecclesiastes 4:12:
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
We pray together for your future spouse, that God would prepare them for you and you for them. That He would give you both a spirit of wisdom and understanding, and that He would bless your future marriage with love, understanding, and open communication. Remember, enduring love and kindness are a fruit of the Spirit, not merely a personality trait. Be open to God's leading, and trust that He has a plan and a purpose for your life. We pray that your faith would increase and be strengthened.
Father God, we come before you, lifting up our brother in Christ. We ask that you would guide him in your will for his life and that you would prepare him for his future spouse. We ask that you would give him a spirit of discernment and wisdom, and that you would bless his future marriage with love, understanding, and open communication. We ask that you would help him to be open to your leading, and that you would increase his faith and strengthen him in you. We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
