Prayer for wisdom

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray with me to have the wisdom to make the right choices in life. So many times I get led astray by friends who have different visions and end up making decisions that cause me or others harm. I need to be steadfast in the plan God has for me.

We hear your heart’s cry for wisdom, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance as you navigate the choices before you. The Scriptures tell us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5 WEB). God delights in granting wisdom to those who ask in faith, and He promises to direct your steps when you acknowledge Him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:5-6).

It is wise of you to recognize the influence of those around you and how their visions may not align with God’s purpose for your life. The Bible warns us, "Do not be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals’" (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). The company you keep can either sharpen you in godliness or lead you astray. We encourage you to seek friendships with those who share your commitment to Christ and His Word, for "as iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance" (Proverbs 27:17 WEB). Surround yourself with believers who will encourage you to walk in obedience and remind you of God’s truth when you are tempted to stray.

We also want to gently remind you that wisdom is not just about making the right choices, it is about aligning your heart with God’s will. Jesus said, "Seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (Matthew 6:33 WEB). When your priorities are rooted in Him, the decisions you face will become clearer. Spend time in His Word, for "the entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple" (Psalm 119:130 WEB). Let Scripture be the lamp to your feet and the light to your path (Psalm 119:105).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your wisdom to fill this dear one’s heart and mind. Lord, You know the struggles they face, the voices pulling them in different directions, the fear of making wrong choices, and the desire to walk in Your perfect will. We ask that You would grant them discernment to recognize Your voice above all others. Help them to stand firm in Your truth, even when the world around them seeks to sway them.

Father, we pray that You would surround them with godly influences, friends and mentors who will point them to You and encourage them in their faith. Give them the courage to distance themselves from relationships that lead them away from Your path. Strengthen their resolve to seek You first in every decision, knowing that You hold their future in Your hands.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of confusion and deception that seeks to lead them astray. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who will guide them into all truth (John 16:13). May they walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You are with them, directing their steps.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We trust that as they seek You, You will make their path straight and their decisions clear. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Remember, beloved, that God’s plans for you are for good and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). You are not alone in this journey, He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and He will lead you into the fullness of His purpose for your life.

We’re grateful you reached out to share this honestly. A lot of us have felt the tug of friends who mean well but pull in a different direction, and it can leave us wondering how we drifted from what we knew was right. That awareness you have, the desire to be steadier in the plan God has for you, is itself a sign that His Spirit is already at work in you.

One thing that often helps when we need to resist being led astray is to be more intentional about whose voices we lean into before a decision. It’s easy to default to the friends around us, but not every friend is equipped to help us see God’s best path. Seeking out a mature Christian mentor, a small group, or even just one person whose walk you trust can give you a sounding board that doesn’t just echo your friend group’s vision. At the same time, setting aside regular time in Scripture, not as a duty but to anchor your heart in what God actually values, gives you a clearer internal compass when others push you toward something that doesn’t sit right spiritually. Wisdom often grows quietly in those spaces where we let God’s Word shape our instincts.

Steadfastness isn’t about never being tempted; it’s about building habits that help you recognize the pull before you act. You’re not alone in this, we’re standing with you.

Lord Jesus, we ask You to fill our friend with Your wisdom. Quiet the noise of competing voices and help them discern what aligns with Your heart. Give them courage to walk away from influences that lead to harm, and strength to stay anchored in the purpose You’ve placed before them. Surround them with people who will speak Your truth in love, and let Your peace guard their mind and steps. In Your name we pray, amen.

The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly! Your cry for wisdom echoes the very need of every soul that has looked to the pierced hand that grasped a reed and yet wrought full salvation. You cannot, in your own strength, make the right choices, no more than the mighty or the wise can claim any part in God's choosing. He has not called many mighty, not many wise, lest any flesh should glory in His presence. When you are weak, then His strength is made perfect. The jawbone of an ass, wielded by a man full of weakness, slays heaps upon heaps. So cast yourself upon that valiant right hand which has done for you what you could never do.

You speak of being led astray by friends whose visions differ. There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Not every companion who walks with a fair show carries the faith of God's elect. You must return to the beginning of your confidence. When you first looked from the cross as a poor sinner, you had no thought of being a distinguished man in the church, you would have been content to sit in the corner of His house. That lowly footing is your safety. Hold fast the beginning of your confidence steadfast unto the end. The world’s sophisms are of no avail if you remain unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.

Remember, you are God’s pupil, taught from your youth, and even your stumblings are object lessons in His school. He chastens but never casts out. Look back to the rock from whence you were hewn: you were not God’s people, your thoughts were contrary to His thoughts, yet He has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. That light, though it seems but starlight now, will grow to full day. Let the years of the right hand of the Most High be your meditation. There is a resurrection, there are crowns of pure reward, live for them. The Lord bless you and save you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You cry out for wisdom to stand firm against friends who lead you into harm. This is the mark of a soul beginning to see clearly. The world’s wisdom is a frenzy, a dance that intoxicates and makes wolves of sheep; those who love pleasure give up their very selves, dragged like beasts wherever the wolf leads. Do not marvel that their path seems sweet: it is the foolishness that God has cast out. True wisdom is Christ, the hidden mystery foreordained for your glory. He was made wisdom to you, not the empty cunning of the schools.

When you stumble, do not despair. Affliction itself is a great good, a trainer of the soul. In ease, even the righteous grow thick and kick; in sorrow, they learn to say, “Whatever pleases God, let Him do.” David, in his prosperity, boasted he would never be moved; in his anguish, he yielded wholly to God’s will. This is the steadfast mind you seek, born not from human resolve but from the discipline of trials. So if your false friends scorn you, redeem the time: let their opposition become the occasion for your patience, not for war. Walk in wisdom toward those outside, not provoking enmity, lest you shut the door on their own salvation.

I join my prayer to yours: May He who has revealed the secrets of His heart grant you to discern His plan and cling to it. May you find in every harmful choice you flee the very wisdom that makes you whole. For God’s foolishness is mightier than man’s wisdom, and the humble soul that seeks Him will never be put to shame.
