Prayer for wisdom

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I eant to pray that God reveal any questions I may have about a person and strengthen that person's faith. I want clarity on how God would want ###'s life and how to proceed.

We join you in seeking the Lord’s wisdom, for it is written, *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him"* (James 1:5, WEB). Your desire for clarity and discernment is commendable, as it reflects a heart that seeks to align with God’s will rather than leaning on your own understanding. We also notice that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. It is only through the name of Jesus that we approach the Father, for *"there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Let us always come before God in the name of Jesus, for He is our mediator and the source of all wisdom, grace, and truth.

Before we proceed, we must address something important. You mentioned wanting clarity about *"how God would want ***’s life and how to proceed."* While we do not know the specifics of this relationship, we must ask: Is this person someone you are courting with the intention of marriage, or is this a friendship or another type of relationship? Scripture is clear that our closest relationships—especially those of a romantic nature—must be rooted in Christ and pursued with purity and godly intention. If this is a romantic relationship outside of marriage, we urge you to examine whether it honors God in every way. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB). If there is any physical or emotional intimacy outside of marriage, we strongly rebuke this in love, for it is sin and displeases the Lord. Repentance and a return to holiness are necessary, for *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB).

If this is a courtship with marriage as the goal, we pray that both of you are seeking the Lord individually and together, ensuring that your relationship is built on Christ as your foundation. *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). If the person you are praying for is not a believer, we must lovingly but firmly remind you that Scripture forbids believers from entering into marriage with unbelievers. Your first priority in any relationship must be obedience to God, even if it requires sacrifice.

If this is a friendship or mentorship, we still encourage you to seek the Lord’s wisdom in how to support and strengthen this person’s faith. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, WEB). However, even in friendships, we must guard our hearts and ensure that our interactions glorify God and do not lead to temptation or compromise.

Now, let us pray together for you and this situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the heart of Your child who seeks wisdom and clarity, for You alone are the source of all truth. Lord, we ask that You reveal any questions or concerns that need to be addressed regarding this person. Give clear discernment and understanding, so that Your will may be known and followed without hesitation. Strengthen the faith of this individual, Lord, and draw them closer to You. If this relationship is not aligned with Your Word, convict hearts and bring repentance where needed. If it is Your will for these lives to be joined in marriage, prepare both hearts for a union that honors You in every way.

Father, we pray against any deception or distraction from the enemy. Guard against emotional or physical compromise, and let Your Holy Spirit be the guide in every decision. If there is sin in this situation, expose it and bring conviction, for You desire holiness and purity among Your people. Help Your child to trust You fully, even if the path ahead requires surrender or waiting. Remind them that Your ways are higher than ours, and Your plans are for our good.

We also pray for protection over this relationship—whether friendship, courtship, or mentorship—that it would be rooted in Christ and bear fruit for Your kingdom. If this person is not a believer, we ask that You open their heart to the Gospel and save them by Your grace. If they are a believer, strengthen their walk with You and unite their heart with Yours.

Lord, we ask for patience and trust in Your timing. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts and minds of those involved. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified above all else.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to spend time in Scripture, particularly in Proverbs for wisdom, 1 Corinthians 13 for love, and Ephesians 5 for godly relationships. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Stay rooted in prayer, and do not rush ahead of God’s timing. He is faithful, and He will guide you. If you need to repent of anything in this relationship, do so now and turn fully to Him. His grace is sufficient, and His mercy is new every morning. Walk in obedience, and He will direct your steps.

We're here with you, seeking God's wisdom together. We understand that you're looking for clarity on how God wants a certain person's life to unfold and how to proceed. Let's approach this prayerfully, asking the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and actions.

First, let's ask God to reveal any questions or concerns we might have about this situation. We want to ensure that our hearts are aligned with His will, and that we're not leaning on our own understanding. We trust that He will give us the wisdom we need, just as He promises in James 1:5.

Now, let's consider the nature of this relationship. Is this person a potential life partner, a friend, or someone you're mentoring? Each relationship has its own dynamics and requires different considerations. But regardless of the nature of the relationship, we should always strive to honor God in our interactions.

If this is a romantic relationship, we must ensure it's pure and honors God. As 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us, we should flee sexual immorality. Any physical or emotional intimacy outside of marriage is sinful and displeasing to the Lord. If this is the case, we need to repent and return to holiness.

If this is a courtship with the goal of marriage, we pray that both of you are seeking the Lord individually and together. Ensure that your relationship is built on Christ as your foundation. Remember, we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14).

If this is a friendship or mentorship, we still encourage you to seek the Lord's wisdom in supporting and strengthening this person's faith. Even in friendships, we must guard our hearts and ensure our interactions glorify God and do not lead to temptation or compromise.

Let's pray together:
