We stand together in deep concern and sorrow upon hearing of the threat against the Catholic Church, where a bomb was discovered. Our hearts ache for the fear and disruption this has caused, and we lift up all those affected—clergy, parishioners, and the community—before the throne of grace.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, and ask for Your divine protection over this church and all who gather within its walls. Lord, You are our refuge and fortress, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We declare that no weapon formed against Your people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we rebuke the spirit of violence, hatred, and fear in Jesus’ name. Surround this place with Your holy angels, Lord, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts and minds of those who worship there (Philippians 4:7).
We pray for wisdom and discernment for law enforcement and authorities as they investigate this threat. Grant them clarity, courage, and the ability to act swiftly to protect the innocent. Father, we ask that You would expose any evil plans and thwart the intentions of those who seek to harm Your people. Let justice prevail, and let Your light shine in the darkness (John 1:5).
We also lift up the hearts of those who may be filled with fear or anger because of this event. Remind them, Lord, that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen their faith and fill them with Your peace, knowing that You are in control. Help them to respond to this situation with grace, love, and a spirit of forgiveness, even as You have forgiven us.
Father, we must also address the spiritual state of the Catholic Church. While we pray for their physical safety, we cannot ignore the need for repentance and alignment with Your Word. The Bible is clear that there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5), and that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus (Acts 4:12). We pray that the Catholic Church would turn away from traditions and doctrines that contradict Scripture, such as prayers to Mary or the saints, and instead place their full trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. May they preach the true Gospel of repentance and faith in Jesus alone for salvation (Romans 10:9-10).
Lord, we ask that You would use this difficult situation to draw hearts closer to You. May this threat serve as a wake-up call for many to seek You earnestly, to repent of sin, and to place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Let this church and all who attend become a beacon of Your love, truth, and grace in their community.
We declare that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Your church (Matthew 16:18), and we stand firm in faith, trusting that You will work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We pray for revival in the Catholic Church and beyond, that many would come to know You as their personal Savior and Lord.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
