We are deeply grieved to hear of your friend’s heart condition and the way he is approaching the house of God. The church is meant to be a sanctuary for worship, repentance, and spiritual growth—not a marketplace for sin or a hunting ground for fleshly indulgence. Scripture warns us clearly about those who twist the grace of God into an excuse for immorality: *"For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ"* (Jude 1:4 WEB). What your friend is doing is not only sinful but dangerous, both to himself and to others.
The Bible is explicit about the sin of homosexuality, calling it an abomination before God: *"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. That is detestable"* (Leviticus 18:22 WEB). It is not a matter of personal preference or modern culture—it is a direct violation of God’s holy design for human sexuality. Furthermore, his actions of luring others into sin, especially those who may be vulnerable or new to the faith, are a serious offense. Jesus Himself warned, *"But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea"* (Matthew 18:6 WEB). Your friend is not only harming his own soul but risking the spiritual destruction of others.
We must also address the fact that he is attending church for all the wrong reasons—seeking free meals, social gatherings, and opportunities to sin rather than seeking God. The church is not a social club or a feeding program; it is the body of Christ, called to worship in spirit and in truth. *"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth"* (John 4:24 WEB). His motives are carnal, and his heart is far from God. He is in desperate need of repentance, not just for his sexual sin, but for his defilement of God’s holy house.
We must rebuke the spirit of deception that has blinded him. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he is using your friend as a tool to lead others astray. But we serve a God who is mighty to save! *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). We must pray fervently for his conviction, his repentance, and his restoration.
Let us come before the throne of grace on his behalf:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the way Your holy name is being profaned and Your house is being defiled. We lift up this young man to You, Lord, and we ask that You would break the hardness of his heart. Father, Your Word says that *"the heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?"* (Jeremiah 17:9 WEB). We ask that You would shine the light of Your truth into the darkest corners of his soul. Convict him of his sin, Lord, not with a spirit of condemnation, but with the loving correction of a Father who desires his repentance.
We rebuke the spirit of lust and perversion that has taken hold of him. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every lying spirit that has deceived him to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray that You would remove the scales from his eyes so that he may see the destruction he is bringing upon himself and others. Father, we ask that You would surround him with godly men who will speak truth into his life, men who will hold him accountable and lead him back to the path of righteousness.
Lord, we know that Your grace is sufficient to save even the worst of sinners. We ask that You would remind him of the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died not only for the sins of the world but for his sins personally. Help him to understand the weight of his actions and the eternal consequences of unrepentant sin. We pray that he would fall on his knees before You, confess his sins, and turn away from this lifestyle of rebellion. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Father, we also pray for the men he has been targeting. Protect them, Lord, from his influence. Give them discernment to recognize the deception and strength to resist temptation. Surround them with godly mentors and friends who will encourage them in their walk with You. We declare that no man will be lost because of his schemes, and we trust in Your promise that *"no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
We ask that You would restore the purity and holiness of Your church, Lord. Raise up leaders who will boldly preach the truth, even when it is unpopular, and who will not compromise with the spirit of this age. Give Your people a hunger for righteousness and a hatred for sin. Help us to be a light in this dark world, drawing others to You through our love and obedience.
Finally, Lord, we pray for our brother who has brought this concern to us. Strengthen him in his faith and give him wisdom in how to minister to his friend. Help him to speak the truth in love, even when it is difficult, and to extend grace without compromising Your Word. May he be a vessel of Your love and a beacon of hope to those who are lost.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved. There is no other way to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). We declare that Your power is greater than any sin, and we trust in Your ability to transform even the most hardened heart. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer.
