Prayer for strength to see the job through.

Thank you for sharing your honest request and for allowing us to pray with you. Hearing that your body is tired and your own strength is gone tells me you are carrying a heavy and demanding calling, and God sees the faithfulness with which you are trying to see this role through as a caregiver and housekeeper.

Scripture speaks directly to the place where you are. The Lord is described as the light and salvation and the strength of our lives, so we do not need to live in fear even when we feel weak. He is a shield to those who trust Him, and when the heart trusts Him, help comes and the heart can rejoice. One of the promises given to His people is that He will give strength to His people and bless them with peace. That is what you are asking for, and it is exactly what He delights to give.

It is a blessed thing to come to the end of your own strength. The Bible says blessed is the person whose strength is in the Lord, who has learned his own frailty and has learned to trust instead in God. In our weakness His strength is made perfect. When we admit we have no strength left, as Daniel did when he was completely undone and said there was no strength remaining in him, we are in the best position to receive the strength that God supplies. You do not need to be ashamed that you are exhausted. God does not cast off His people when strength fails, even in older years or long seasons of labor. He remains and He invites you to go in His strength, not your own.

There is a difference between the outer person and the inner person. We naturally care for the body with food and rest, and that is right, but the inner person also needs to be fed. That feeding comes through prayer and through the Word. Prayer is not about the position of the body but the position of the heart before God, and it is a place of real strength. Bringing every burden to Him in prayer moves us from defeat to confidence because we are reminded of what He has promised. His Word becomes our portion and our stay, a strong tower and shelter when the enemy would tempt us to despair or to faint.

If we try to stand in our own strength, Scripture warns that we will faint in the day of adversity because that strength is small. But if our trust is in the Lord, we will not be left without what we need. He strengthens the inner person by His Spirit so we can stand. He turns even valleys of weeping into places of refreshment, like wells with pools of water, and He causes those who trust Him to go from strength to strength.

So I pray for you now that the Lord Himself will be your strength today. May He strengthen you in your inner being by His Spirit, lift you up when you feel cast down, and guard you as a shield around you. May He give you His peace as well as His power to continue the work He has set before you, one day at a time. May His Word refresh you as you wait on Him, and may you find that as you lean on Him, your heart is helped and can praise Him again.

You are not alone in this. The Lord is watching over you and keeping you, and He will supply what you lack as you look to Him. May He keep His hand upon you and give you His strength, His peace and His love as you walk through this tiring season.
