Prayer for Strength and Renewal

Thank you for sharing your heart and allowing prayer for you in this heavy season. What you are feeling, that exhaustion and heaviness of spirit, is known to the Lord, and He understands it fully. Even Jesus knew that deep heaviness in the garden when His soul was sorrowful and His sweat was as drops of blood. He knows what it is to carry a weight that feels too great, and He draws near to those who call on Him.

I want to remind you that your strength in this time will not come from trying harder within yourself. Scripture teaches that if we trust only in our own strength or our own wisdom, we will find it is too small when adversity comes. We all come to a place where our strength fails. The blessed person is the one who has learned that his strength is in the Lord. As the psalmist said, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. He is your rock, your fortress, your deliverer, your shield, the horn of your salvation and your high tower. A rock speaks of unshakable strength, a shield of covering, a high tower of safety above the reach of the enemy. In Christ you have a place of security, a rock higher than yourself where you can be sheltered from the storm and protected from spiritual attack.

God promises to give strength to His people and to bless His people with peace. That strength is made perfect in weakness. When you feel weak and unable to go on, that is where His power can be revealed most clearly. The apostle Paul learned to glory in his weakness so that the power of Christ might rest upon him. You do not need to be ashamed of feeling weak. Bring that weakness honestly to the Lord and ask Him to be your strength today.

Part of how He renews your mind and spirit is through His Word and through prayer. His Word becomes your strength and your portion as you stay in it. It lifts you from a place of defeat into confidence and victory because it reminds you of what God has promised. Prayer also is a place of strength. When you bring every burden to Him, He exchanges your heaviness for His peace and carries you from strength to strength. The psalm speaks of those whose strength is in the Lord passing through the valley of weeping and making it a place of springs and pools. God can take even this dry and sorrowful valley you are walking through and make it a well of refreshment as you trust Him step by step.

The secret of true strength, like Samson of old, was not in himself but in a life separated unto God. Strength comes from a heart committed to Him, trusting Him alone. He who watches over you does not slumber. He keeps you. Because He is your strength and your shield, your heart can trust in Him and be helped, and then rejoice with thanksgiving.

My prayer for you is that the Lord Himself would be your strength right now. May He renew your mind as you dwell in His Word, restore your spirit, and lift this heaviness. May He draw you closer into His presence, cover you under the shelter of His wings, and guard you from every spiritual attack. May He give you grace for each step forward, not in your own power but in the strength of the Lord, and may He fill you with His peace as you keep trusting Him. He will not cast you off when your strength is gone and He will not forsake you. He will give you strength to endure and bring you through.

May the Lord bless you, keep you in His love, and cause His strength, His peace and His joy to be yours in abundance as you walk with Jesus.
