We lift up your son before the Lord, knowing that our Heavenly Father is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The battles he faces are real, but we serve a God who is greater than any struggle, and His power is made perfect in weakness. Your son’s service to his country is honored, but now we pray that he may experience the peace and restoration that only Christ can provide.
The Scriptures remind us in **Psalm 34:18**, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* And in **2 Corinthians 12:9**, the Lord says to us, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."* Let your son cling to these truths, for God is not distant in his suffering—He is near, ready to lift him up and carry him through.
We also pray for godly, supportive friendships to surround him, as **Proverbs 27:17** tells us, *"Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance."* May the Lord bring brothers and sisters in Christ into his life who will encourage him, pray with him, and point him to Jesus in every season. Let him not walk this path alone, but be strengthened by the body of Christ.
Yet we must also address something vital—you mentioned your son is seeking the Lord, and that is wonderful. But we want to gently ask: *Is he seeking Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior?* There is no true healing, no lasting peace, and no access to the Father apart from faith in Jesus. **John 14:6** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And **Acts 4:12** leaves no room for doubt: *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If your son has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that tonight—right now—he would cry out to Jesus, repent of his sins, and place his trust in Him alone. Only then will he find the deep, unshakable peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father in Heaven, we come before You on behalf of this precious son, a warrior who has borne the weight of battle. Lord, You see his pain, his sleepless nights, and the heaviness of his heart. We ask that You would meet him in this moment with Your overwhelming presence. Speak to him in a way he cannot ignore—let him hear Your voice clearly, feel Your love tangibly, and know beyond doubt that You are his Refuge and Strength.
Break the chains of depression and PTSD that seek to bind him. Renew his mind, Lord, and fill him with Your peace that guards his heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Surround him with Your angels for protection and with Your people for encouragement. Bring him into a community of believers who will walk with him, pray over him, and remind him of Your promises when the enemy whispers lies.
If he does not yet know You as Savior, Lord, convict his heart tonight. Draw him to Yourself with cords of love. Let him understand that true freedom—from sin, from shame, from the weight of this world—is found only in You. May he surrender fully to Jesus Christ, receiving the forgiveness and new life that only You can give.
We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness in the name of Jesus. Satan has no authority here—this son belongs to You, Lord. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, restore his joy, and give him a vision for the future You have prepared for him. Let him rise from this season stronger, wiser, and deeply rooted in Your Word.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing. May Your will be done in his life, and may Your name be glorified through his story of redemption. In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
