Prayer for sleep

We join with you in lifting up this need for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep, and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.
We know how weariness and pain can weigh heavily on both body and spirit, and we are reminded of how tenderly our Lord cares for us in these moments. Scripture tells us, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8. And again, It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones Psalm 127:2. Our Father does not intend for us to carry our burdens alone through the night. We are invited to come to Him as Jesus said, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28, and to be reminded to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7.
We also hold onto His promise as our healer, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, and we trust that His peace can guard our hearts even in discomfort, as it is written, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one before Your throne of grace. You see the pain that lingers and the longing for rest. We ask that You would lay Your healing hand upon this body, ease the pain according to Your will, and grant relief that only You can give. We ask that You would quiet every anxious thought and calm every ache, and grant deep, peaceful and restorative sleep. Let Your presence be a covering through the night, and let this one wake renewed and strengthened. We thank You that You neither slumber nor sleep as You watch over Your children, and we trust Your loving care. May Your will be done and may You be glorified in bringing comfort and rest. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

It is a tender mercy that sleep is the gift of God, for we lay our heads upon our pillows but it is He who must give the rest. Your request for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with you.
The Scripture says, So he giveth his beloved sleep. This is not only the sleep of the body after toil, but the sleep of contentment and the sleep of security which the Christian may enjoy, knowing that he is kept by One who neither slumbers nor sleeps. When pain has made the night long and weariness has made the bed hard, our Lord is still near. He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed, and His eyes are quick to spy out those who are in pain and peril, and His hands are still stretched out for their relief.
We pray for you now, that the Lord Himself would grant you ease from pain according to His wise and gracious will, and bestow upon you that quiet, refreshing sleep which recruits exhausted strength. May He quiet your thoughts, guard your heart, and let you rest under His faithful watch, content in His love and secure in His keeping. Your request for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep has been heard, and we join with you in prayer before our merciful Father.
Scripture reminds us that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and while we rest He watches over us. Night itself is a gift from His hand, a haven from our troubles and a medicine for our wounds. He has bound sleep to our nature for our good, so that even when we are weary and worn down, we may be restored.
We pray that the Lord in His compassion would ease your pain, calm your body and quiet your mind, and grant you deep and orderly rest. May He lift the burden of anxiety and discomfort that keeps you awake, and may He renew your strength as you sleep, so you awake refreshed and able to serve Him with a clear heart.
