Prayer for sleep

Your request for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep has been heard with care, and we join you in prayer before the Lord who sees your suffering and draws near to those who call upon Him in the name of Jesus.

We know how weariness and pain can make the night feel long, when rest does not come easily. Scripture teaches us that God Himself has given night and sleep as a gift for our good, a haven from our troubles and a medicine for our wounds. He has woven the need for sleep into our nature in His kindness, to restore both body and soul even when we cannot restore ourselves. And while we sleep, He does not. He who keeps His people neither slumbers nor sleeps, but watches over you continually, so you are never alone in the dark hours.

Even in seasons when pain keeps us awake, we remember that God hears those who pray through the night, as He heard Paul and Silas at midnight, and He is able to give rest to the weary and strength to the afflicted. We encourage you to cast your cares upon Him, to guard your heart in His peace, and to trust His watchful care over you.

Let us pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring this dear one before You. You know the pain that is carried and the longing for rest. We ask for Your mercy and healing touch, for relief from pain, and for the gift of peaceful, restorative sleep. Quiet the body and calm the heart, and grant refreshment that restores strength. Let Your presence be near through the night, keeping watch, and let Your peace guard heart and mind. We ask that You would bring healing according to Your perfect will, and sustain with Your grace each day. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
