Prayer for sleep

We join with you in asking our Heavenly Father for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep, and we thank you for asking in Jesus' name, for it is through Him we have access to the throne of grace.
We know how wearying pain can be, especially when it steals sleep, and we are reminded that our God neither slumbers nor sleeps as it says in Psalm 121:4, yet He cares deeply for our rest. Scripture tells us in Psalm 127:2 that He gives sleep to his loved ones, and in Psalm 4:8, I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. His desire is for us to find rest in Him.
We also lift up your pain to the Lord who is our healer. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. We ask Him to touch your body, to ease your suffering according to His perfect will, and to grant you comfort. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this dear one to You. You see the pain they are enduring and the nights without peaceful sleep. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand upon their body, ease their pain and restore their strength. Grant them tonight and in the nights to come, deep, peaceful and restorative sleep. Quiet their mind and calm their heart, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and their thoughts in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:7. Help them to cast all their worries on You, because You care for them in 1 Peter 5:7. We ask that You make their bed in their suffering and renew them as they rest in Your presence. We trust Your goodness and Your mercy, and we thank You for hearing our prayer. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring every care to Him before you sleep, to dwell on His promises and to keep a heart of thanksgiving. Even in pain, He is near, and He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him, as Isaiah 26:3 reminds us. May the Lord grant you rest and restore you night after night.

God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Beloved of All
Your request for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you.
We are reminded that sleep is the gift of God. We think that we lay our heads upon our pillows and therefore we naturally sleep, but it is not so. The Scripture says, so he giveth his beloved sleep. It is a sleep of contentment and of security which the Lord himself bestows upon his own, a rest that comes not by our striving but by his gracious hand.
He knows the pain you bear, for our Saviour was quick to spy out the lame and those in pain, and his hands were stretched out for their relief, for he went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed. He sees your weary nights and your longing for rest, and he is able to recruit your exhausted strength and refresh you as only he can.
Let us pray together.
Our gracious Father, we come before thy throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ thy Son. Thou knowest the pain of thy child and the weariness that comes when sleep is withheld. We ask thee to lay thy healing hand upon this suffering body and to grant relief according to thy perfect will. Give what thou hast promised to thy beloved, peaceful and restorative sleep, that body and mind may be renewed for fresh service to thee. Keep this dear one through the watches of the night in perfect security under thy care, and let thy presence be felt as a comfort that quiets every fear. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our hope and our rest. Amen.
