Prayer for seizures, insomnia and meaning for life and living

I've struggled with seizures for over a decade. They've taken them over my life. I have over ### non-epileptic seizures everyday. I want to be free from them. I cannot sleep at night time and I oversleep during daytime with major insomnia since ### yrs old, ###yrs old now. My life is meaningless and hopeless. There is no aim or goals. I want to die but I don't desire to kill myself. My physical and spiritual health is horrible and mental. I just want meaning to life again and a purpose to live. Yes, I am a born-again Christian. Just one that lost its spark to life I had when I first believed. It's hard to see again. I want a reason to live and breathe. A joyous hobby to get up to do everyday even!

We hear your cry, dear brother in Christ, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. Your suffering is real, and your pain is deep, physically, mentally, and spiritually. But we want you to know that even in this darkness, you are not forgotten. The Lord sees you, He hears you, and He holds you in His hands. You are not alone, and your life has meaning because the One who created you declares it so.

First, we rebuke the spirit of infirmity that has taken hold of your body in the name of Jesus Christ. The seizures, the insomnia, the weariness, they do not have the final say. We declare freedom over you, for it is written: "But if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you" (Romans 8:11). The same power that raised Christ from the grave lives in you, and we pray that power would break every chain of sickness and oppression in your life.

We also rebuke the spirit of despair that has clouded your mind and heart. The enemy wants you to believe that your life is meaningless, that there is no hope, and that joy is forever out of reach. But we declare that this is a lie. Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). The abundant life Christ offers is not the absence of suffering, but the presence of His peace, purpose, and power in the midst of it. We pray that the Holy Spirit would rekindle the fire within you, that you would once again taste the joy of your salvation, and that your heart would be filled with hope.

Your struggle with insomnia and the disruption of your sleep patterns is not just a physical battle, it is a spiritual one as well. We pray for rest to come upon you, for the Lord gives to His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). We ask that He would calm your mind at night, quiet the storms within you, and grant you the rest your body and soul so desperately need. We also pray for wisdom for your doctors and caregivers, that they would have divine insight into how to treat you and bring healing to your body.

As for the meaning and purpose you long for, we remind you that your life is not your own, you were bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Your purpose is not found in circumstances, health, or even hobbies, but in Christ alone. He has a plan for you, even in this season of struggle. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that the Lord would reveal His purpose for you, that He would open your eyes to the ways He is working even now, and that He would give you a renewed passion for living.

We also want to gently encourage you to seek fellowship with other believers. Isolation can make despair feel even heavier, but the body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). If you are not already connected to a local church or small group, we urge you to find one where you can be loved, prayed for, and supported. You do not have to walk this road alone.

And finally, we pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is suffering. Lord, You see his pain, his weariness, and his longing for purpose. We ask that You would pour out Your healing power upon him. Touch his body, Lord, and break the chains of seizures and insomnia. Restore his strength, both physically and spiritually. Renew his mind, Father, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

We ask that You would reignite the spark of joy in his heart. Remind him of the hope he has in You, the hope that does not disappoint. Give him a fresh revelation of Your love for him, and help him to see the purpose You have for his life, even in this difficult season. Surround him with Your presence, Lord, and let him feel Your arms holding him close.

We declare freedom over him in the name of Jesus. We break every chain of sickness, despair, and hopelessness. We speak life, healing, and restoration over him. And we trust You, Lord, to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We hear the deep weariness in what you’ve written, the years of seizures, the sleepless nights, the hollow ache of a life that once had a spark and now feels flat and meaningless. We’re so sorry you’re carrying this, and we don’t want to brush past how heavy it is.

When hope dims, the need for meaning becomes unbearable. Viktor Frankl, a man who survived Nazi prison camps, observed that the people who lost a sense of purpose were soon lost. That honest cry for a reason to live isn’t weakness; it’s a deeply human plea, and God hears it. You are not broken beyond repair just because the feelings have gone numb. The spark you remember wasn’t something you manufactured on your own, God gave it, and He can gently reignite it, often in a shape you aren’t expecting.

A small, almost defiant step that has helped many who feel adrift is to engage in worship even before the feelings return. Not because your pain is wrong, but because lifting a song or a few quiet words of thanks, however feebly, calls us out of the prison of our own despair and into God’s reality. It’s a way of saying, “I will bless the Lord at all times,” as David did when his own heart was heavy. That movement can sometimes open up the desire for a joyful hobby: perhaps revisiting something you once loved, creating something simple, or serving someone nearby in a tiny way that reminds you your life touches others.

While we pray, we also want to whisper this: please keep your doctor informed about the sleeplessness and the seizures. That’s not a failure of faith; it’s part of letting God care for you through the help He provides. Sometimes small adjustments make a difference, and you deserve that support.

Jesus, you see this beloved child worn down by illness and sleeplessness. You know what it is to cry out in the dark. Meet them in the numbness now, and quietly rekindle a flicker of purpose, something to get up for. Grant windows of true rest and guide those who care for their body and mind. Most of all, let them taste again the simple, steady joy of being loved by you, not for what they produce but as your own. In your name we ask this. Amen.

Jesus, in Your Name we take authority over all things contrary to Your healing of all our infirmities, Ps 103:2-5, by Your stripes, Isaiah 53:5, and in Jesus' Name with our weak words we announce the power of Your good news of Jesus Christ who sets the captives free for Your glory and honor, Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

These seizures and sleepless nights are not chance strokes, nor has a single one of them fallen out of order. He is of one mind, and who can turn Him? What His soul desireth, that He doeth. His purpose runs through all your days, and not a spasm nor a waking hour comes without the bounds of that eternal decree. You ask for meaning, here it is: that you may know the God who has saved you, not according to your works, but according to His own purpose.

He is withdrawing you from your own purpose, that dark resolve to see life as empty and death as your dearest friend. You feel your spark extinguished; yet He has not withdrawn Himself from you, nor has His purpose altered. The Son of God was manifested for this very purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil. What are these seizures but the enemy’s foul works? And what is this despair but the devil’s foothold in your mind? Christ came to destroy them utterly. Believe that He will do it, for He has power over all flesh, even to subdue that which rebels within your own frame. Your body and soul are not beyond the reach of Him who set His face like a flint to redeem His people. He endured the cross for the joy set before Him; will He then abandon you to a meaningless end?

You say you are born-again, yet you have lost the joy of your first love. Remember, that first love was not a blaze kindled by your own effort. God saved you according to His own purpose, not according to your feeling or your strength. He has called you with a holy calling, and that calling stands firm when your heart wavers. The purpose of God is the anchor, cast your weight upon it. You desire a reason to rise each morning; set this before you: you are part of His grand purpose, which no power of hell can overturn. You are not merely an object of pity; you are one in whom He is working out that which shall bring Him praise and you eternal good.

Do not think you must manufacture purpose out of your shallow soil. Look to Christ, who hung upon the tree to redeem you from destruction, and see how His steadfast purpose was tried by taunts, by pain, by the silence of the Father, yet He never moved. That same resolve is at work for you now. The hobby you crave, the joyous task, these things may come, but they are the fruit, not the root. Seek first the Kingdom; let your waking hours, even the watchful nights, be turned to prayer. Plead His promises in the darkness. If you cannot sleep, let the bed become a sanctuary. If the seizures batter you, let each one drive you deeper into the cleft of the Rock. His purpose is not merely to ease you, but to make you holy, to conform you to His Son.

This life is not meaningless when it is hid with Christ in God. The world may never see your secret labour, but heaven does. Hold fast to this: He who spared not His own Son shall also freely give you all things. Even now, the Lord may be using these very trials to empty you of self-trust and fill you with His Spirit. Be not cast down; the darkness shall not last forever. What He has purposed, He will do.
