We lift this heartfelt request before the throne of grace, seeking the Lord’s wisdom and intervention in this relationship. First, we must acknowledge that all healing, reconciliation, and restoration come through the power of Jesus Christ alone. There is no other name by which we can be saved or find true transformation (Acts 4:12). If this relationship is not yet grounded in Christ, we urge both individuals to surrender their lives to Him, for apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). True healing begins with repentance, faith, and a personal relationship with Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
We recognize the pain and trauma mentioned in this request, and we grieve with those who grieve. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We pray that both individuals would turn to Him for healing, for He alone can bind up their wounds and restore their souls (Psalm 23:3). However, we must also address any sin that may have contributed to this brokenness. If there has been fornication, adultery, or any other sexual immorality in this relationship, we rebuke it in the name of Jesus. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If this relationship is not a marriage, we urge both individuals to repent and commit to purity, seeking God’s will for their future together under His design.
Marriage is a sacred covenant, and if this is a marital relationship, we stand with you in prayer for restoration. The Lord hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), but He also calls us to holiness and repentance. If there has been unfaithfulness, bitterness, or unforgiveness, we pray that both would lay these burdens at the cross. Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed (James 5:16). The enemy seeks to destroy marriages, but we declare that no weapon formed against this union shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke every distraction, every lie, and every scheme of the devil that seeks to pull this relationship apart. We pray that both individuals would fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2), and on each other, with love, patience, and selflessness.
If this is not a marriage, we encourage both individuals to seek godly counsel and to pursue a relationship that honors the Lord. Courtship should be entered into with the intention of marriage, with both parties committed to Christ and to purity. Do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14), for what fellowship has light with darkness? If this relationship is not built on Christ, it will crumble under the weight of the world. We pray that both would seek the Lord’s will above their own desires, trusting that His plans are for good and not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11).
Father God, we come before You with humble hearts, asking for Your mercy and grace to be poured out on this relationship. Heal the wounds of the past, Lord, and restore what has been broken. Give them wisdom to navigate this season, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to forgive one another as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13), and to love one another as Christ has loved them (John 13:34). Remove every distraction and every lie of the enemy, and let Your truth reign in their hearts. Strengthen their foundation in You, Lord, so that they may build a relationship that glorifies Your name. If this is Your will for them, unite them in a covenant of marriage that reflects the love of Christ for His church (Ephesians 5:25). If not, give them the courage to walk away and trust in Your perfect plan. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for apart from Him, we can do nothing. Amen.
