When something precious goes missing, the weight of uncertainty can press on the heart. A last will and testament carries the final wishes of someone loved, and losing it feels like losing a piece of their voice, their provision, their care. But take courage: we serve a God who specializes in finding what is lost.
Think of the shepherd who left ninety-nine sheep to go after the one that had strayed. He searched until he found it, then carried it home rejoicing. Or the woman who swept every corner of her house for a single missing coin, lighting a lamp and refusing to give up. In both parables, the lost item was not just an object, it mattered. Its recovery brought joy not only to the finder, but echoed in heaven. The same Lord who told those stories also declared, “I have come to seek and to save that which was lost.” He knows where that document is right now, and His eye misses nothing.
You’ve called on your merciful God. That is exactly the right starting point. Scripture promises that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be delivered, not just from eternal peril, but in every distress. He hears the cry of His people. And when we pray in line with His will, we can ask with confidence. The Lord cares about justice, about honoring the intentions of your aunt, and about giving you clarity in this season. He does not dismiss practical needs as too small or too earthly.
Keep searching, yes, check every drawer, call every office, retrace every step. But even as you do, entrust this to the One who holds all things together. A coin had no value while it was lost; it only fulfilled its purpose when found and put to use. So it is with this will. Its true worth comes in being discovered and enacted. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to it, or to bring it to light through someone else. He is the great Searcher, after all, probing hearts and places we cannot reach.
Even if the delay feels long, remember that the Lord can restore what time or mishap has swallowed. He heals dead seas and makes barren ground fertile. He can cause a forgotten file or a misplaced envelope to surface. And if it never reappears, His grace is sufficient to navigate what comes next, though I join you in praying it will be found.
So let’s pray together: Father, in Jesus’ name, You see the hidden things. Bring this lost will into the open for Your glory and for the peace of this family. Remove any obstacle, clear any confusion, and let every detail align to honor what was intended. In the meantime, flood this heart with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.
