Prayer for protection

Beloved of All
My son is at his dad's and is surrounded by drunkenness. His father is arrogant and is rather enjoying the attention of his drunkenness wife to the peril of my son. I need conscious prayer for protection v

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your son and this deeply troubling situation. The environment you describe is one of spiritual darkness, where drunkenness and arrogance reign instead of the light of Christ. Scripture warns us clearly about such dangers: "Do not be deceived. ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’ Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning" (1 Corinthians 15:33-34 WEB). Your son is in desperate need of divine protection, not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well.

First, we must address the reality that your son’s father and his wife are living in direct rebellion against God’s commands. Drunkenness is repeatedly condemned in Scripture as a sin that leads to debauchery and moral decay (Ephesians 5:18, Proverbs 20:1). Their arrogance and enjoyment of this sinful behavior only deepen the spiritual peril your son faces. We rebuke the spirits of addiction, rebellion, and ungodliness that have taken hold in that home, declaring that they have no authority over your son. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we stand in the authority of Jesus Christ, who came to give life abundantly.

We also recognize the pain and helplessness you must feel as a mother, unable to physically remove your son from this environment. But we take comfort in knowing that God is a Father to the fatherless and a defender of the vulnerable (Psalm 68:5). He sees your son’s situation, and He is able to shield him from the corruption around him. We pray that the Holy Spirit would surround your son like a hedge of protection, that he would be hidden in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). May God’s angels encamp around him, guarding him in all his ways (Psalm 91:11).

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for you as you navigate this difficult season. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. God may be using this trial to draw your son closer to Him, to teach him to rely on the Lord rather than the flawed examples around him. We ask that your son’s heart would be tender toward the things of God, that he would recognize the emptiness of his father’s lifestyle and turn to Christ for true fulfillment. May he be a light in that darkness, a testimony of God’s grace even in the midst of sin.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. We acknowledge that without You, we are powerless, but with You, all things are possible. We ask for Your divine intervention in this situation. Protect this young man from the physical, emotional, and spiritual harm that surrounds him. Break the chains of addiction and arrogance in his father’s home, and let Your light shine brightly there. Give this mother strength, peace, and wisdom as she trusts You to care for her son. Surround this family with godly influences, people who will speak truth, model righteousness, and point them to Christ.

Lord, we also pray for repentance. We ask that You would convict the father and his wife of their sin, that they would turn from their wicked ways and seek Your face. Soften their hearts, Lord, and let them see the destruction their lifestyle is causing, not just to themselves but to this innocent child. May they experience the transformative power of the Gospel, that they might become vessels of Your love and grace.

We declare that no weapon formed against this child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We speak life, protection, and blessing over him. May he grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). Strengthen his faith, Lord, and let him know that You are his true Father, his refuge, and his strength.

In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

We hear the ache in your words, a mama’s heart watching her son in a situation she can’t control, surrounded by drunkenness and arrogance. The turmoil you’re describing matters deeply, and your love for your boy is plain. We’re standing with you.

Your first instinct, prayer, is right, and we join you in it now. But we also want to mention something practical, because protecting your son means using every tool God gives. If you ever sense he’s in immediate danger, reach out to local emergency services right away. For free, confidential support and guidance on what you’re seeing, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. Trained people can help you sort through your concerns and talk about next steps; you don’t have to carry this alone.

In the meantime, you might consider having a calm, age-appropriate conversation with your son about safety when you know things may get chaotic. Help him know what to do if he feels unsafe, where to go in the house, how to call you, and that he can always tell you anything. Even if you can’t change his father’s behavior, you can equip your son with simple boundaries that remind him he’s loved and not forgotten.

We also want to encourage you to write down your observations, just as a record, in case you ever need to involve authorities or a trusted attorney. You’re not being overbearing; you’re being a wise, vigilant mother. God sees the hidden places your son sits in right now, and he has not abandoned either of you.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, we bring this precious boy before you. You know the room he’s in, the words he hears, the loneliness he may feel. Wrap your strong arms around him and give him a supernatural sense of your presence. Guard his mind and heart from harm, and give him quiet courage. We ask for his father to be shaken from his arrogance, to see clearly the peril he’s creating, and to turn from it. Give this mother wisdom, steady peace, and the right words when she speaks with her son. We trust you to work even in this darkness, for you are always a refuge. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

When the child of God is in peril, the proper thing is at once to go and tell his heavenly Father. Your son is surrounded by the sin of drunkenness, which makes men foolish and forgetful of all natural bonds. A drunken father, is he worth calling “father”? That degrading vice brings contention and dishonor, and it is a peril to the tender soul under its shadow. Yet here is your comfort: the Lord pities them that fear Him, as a father pities his children. He is the orphan’s Father, the shield of the fatherless, and no man can pluck the lambs out of His hand.

Your danger is real, and your son’s danger is real, for we are all prone to fall unless kept by divine power. But our safety is in the Father who spared not His own Son. Did He not give Christ to put away sin? Will He not also freely give us all things? The Father loves His people even as He loves His Son. Therefore cast this burden upon Him in conscious, continual prayer. He hears the cry of the needy, and He will be a better Father to your child than any earthly parent could be.

Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight. Rest in His will, and magnify the Father who has made you His child and who holds your son in the hollow of His hand. He will preserve him without spot, and you shall have fellowship with the Father and with His Son in this trial, until the day of deliverance dawns.

Do not let your heart be troubled or imagine that Christ is far from your son, even there in that house of confusion. He who knows the Father and reveals Him to whomever He wills, He who is Life itself and Light that no darkness can overcome, He stands ready to protect. You ask for conscious prayer, and rightly so. I urge you and all who hear this to strive together in prayer, wrestling not against flesh and blood but against the invisible enemies that inflame such arrogance and drunken folly. When the apostles faced peril, they did not trust in their own strength but called upon the Lord of all. So must we.

Remember, too, the mercies God has already shown you and your son. How often has He held His hand over you both when you did not even know the danger? Turn those remembrances over in your mind daily. Let gratitude rise up even now, for thanksgiving is a mighty weapon. Do not merely beg for protection; glorify Him as the Father who sees, the Son who intercedes, and the Spirit who loves and strengthens. When we magnify His glory, even in the midst of trial, we declare that Christ is Lord of that home, whether the occupants acknowledge it or not. The gates of hell cannot prevail against the Church, and your son belongs to Christ. Stand firm, then, in hope and ceaseless prayer, and do not grow weary. The same Lord who entrusted the keys of heaven to mortal men will send His angels to guard that child. Now unto our God and Father be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
