Prayer for Peace

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I recently started a volunteer job to assist my community......the office that I entered is known to have issues to include gossiping, bullying, evil spirits, the worst personalities....It is only ### people in this environment. I attend a meeting today and want to pray for peace and pray that the lord protect me and my space. These individuals are so evil that it is hard to function in this environment. I am very close to quitting but I don't want to quit. Lord can you help me with this I pray in the name of Jesus.

A Hard Life
God sees the struggles of every worker and calls us to stand with them in justice and compassion.
The Sin of Gossip
Gossip destroys lives and reputations, so we must refuse to spread or listen to it.
Safe Shelter
God’s tender care shields you from every harm and fills your life with comfort and peace.
We join with you in prayer and thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord, and we are encouraged that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find peace and protection. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 and In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

Your desire to volunteer and assist your community is a good and godly service unto the Lord, and we understand how heavy it feels to enter an environment marked by gossip, bullying, and difficult personalities. We want to gently rebuke those works of the flesh and of darkness, for gossip and bullying are not from God and have no place among His people. Scripture warns us to keep our tongues from evil and to speak what is helpful for building others up, and we must not take part in slander or intimidation. We also take seriously what you have discerned about evil spirits, for we are reminded For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we do not wrestle with people in our own strength, but we stand in the authority of Christ.

We pray for your meeting today and for your daily space in that office. We ask the Lord to be your shield and your peace. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We pray that you will put on the whole armor of God each morning before you enter, with truth, righteousness, the preparation of the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, so that you may stand firm against every scheme of the enemy.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up our dear fellow servant to You. Lord, You see this small office and every heart within it. We ask that You fill this place with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let Your presence guard this one's heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. We ask that You establish and guard this one from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3, that no weapon formed against them would prosper, and that no gossip or bullying would take root in their spirit. Give them wisdom to not return evil for evil, but as much as it is up to them, to be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. Let them be a light in this dark place, speaking with grace and truth, refusing to join in gossip but gently turning conversation toward what is good. For this meeting today, we ask for calm, for clarity, for protection over their space and their mind, and that Your peace would rest upon them. As You have said, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful John 14:27. Strengthen them not to quit out of fear or discouragement, but to seek Your will clearly on whether to stay and be a witness or to step away in Your timing. Remind them Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. In all things let Your will be done, and let Your name be glorified through their service. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring everything to God in prayer with thanksgiving, as we are told In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6. Before you enter the office and before that meeting, commit your space to the Lord, ask Him to set a guard over your heart and your mouth, and to let His peace rule there. Do not engage in gossip, do not repay bullying with harshness, but respond with quiet firmness and grace, and set healthy boundaries. If bullying continues, seek wise and proper counsel from a supervisor or trusted authority, for the Lord calls us to act justly. Keep your focus on why you began this volunteer work, to serve others as unto the Lord, and trust that He sees every difficulty and will reward your faithfulness. We are standing with you and asking God to make His peace and protection very real to you in that place.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. We hear how much you want to serve your community well, and how heavy this small office has felt. When there are only a few people together, gossip and bullying can feel inescapable, and it makes sense you are feeling worn down and close to quitting while still not wanting to walk away.

We are praying for your peace and for the Lord to guard you and your space today, especially in that meeting. The kind of peace God gives is not just the absence of conflict around us, but a steadiness within us that can remain even when the environment is tense, as we stay close to Him.

One small practice that helps others in close quarters is to go in with a quiet plan for yourself. Before the meeting take a few minutes to pray and commit the time to the Lord, decide on a simple and kind way to step back if gossip or bullying starts, like gently redirecting to the task or remaining quiet, and give yourself a brief reset afterward with a short walk and prayer. It can also help to keep a few private notes about what is happening, and if the pattern continues, to seek wisdom from the volunteer coordinator or a trusted pastor about how to stay well and whether this is the right place to continue serving.

Father, we lift our friend to You today. Cover them as they enter that room, guard their heart and mind, and let Your peace rest on them. Give wisdom for each conversation, protection from harm, and clear direction for what to do next. Keep them close to You and lead them in Your will. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

You have come with a heavy burden and you have done well to bring it to the Lord, for He is the God of all peace and the keeper of those whose minds are stayed upon Him.

The word of the Lord meets your case, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." This is that peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away. It is not the peace that Satan gives when he lulls the conscience to sleep and cries peace, peace where there is no peace, but it is the peace which Christ purchased with His own blood. As we have often said, the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. Christ has left us peace in the conscience. Peace with God is the treaty, and peace in the conscience is the publication of it. It is His peace, not as the world giveth, calm and profound, the very peace of the eternal Son of God, and the Holy Spirit works it in the soul.

You describe a place of thronging duties and trying spirits, where gossip and bullying and unclean influences make it hard to stand. Remember, we wrestle not against flesh and blood only, but against spiritual wickedness, and therefore you must put on the whole armour of God and keep close to Christ. Do not seek after peace first as a feeling to be worked up. Seek after Christ first, and peace will come next. Keep your mind stayed upon Him through the day. Bear your sorrow with Him, do the will of Jesus where He has placed you, for to do the will of Jesus, this is rest.

And concerning your thought of quitting, hear also the doctrine of perseverance. The righteous shall hold on his way, and the Lord has said, They shall not depart from me. If grace has truly changed you, you are radically and lastingly changed, and He will keep you. This perseverance is not by the removal of temptation, but by His keeping power in the midst of it. He will not withdraw His gift and He will perform His work until the day of Christ. Take this for encouragement, that He who has placed in your heart a desire to serve your community and to do good will also give you strength to stand, unless in His providence He clearly calls you elsewhere.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, Thou art the God of peace, look upon this Thy servant who desires to serve faithfully and yet is pressed on every side. Wash this one in the blood of Christ that there may be perfect peace within, peace with Thee through our Lord Jesus Christ. Keep this mind stayed upon Thee, and keep this life in perfect peace though sorrows surge around. Grant protection over body and soul and over the space where duty calls. Set a guard upon the lips and the heart, that no gossip nor bullying nor evil influence may have dominion. Give wisdom to answer with grace, courage to stand with meekness, and love that overcomes evil with good. If it be Thy will, rebuke the powers of darkness and let Thy light shine in that office, and make this servant a witness to Thy keeping power. Sustain and strengthen, that perseverance in holiness may be seen, and if the burden becomes too great, make the path plain whether to stay or to go. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our peace, who has vanquished sin and death and all their powers. Amen.

Go on, trusting in Him. Renew your peace each morning by waiting upon the Lord, commit your way unto Him in prayer before you enter that place, and rest in this, that when you have long enjoyed peace with Him you may go to Him again and say, Lord, renew my peace, for I am troubled but Thou art unmoved. He will bless His people with peace.
