Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and allowing us to pray with you. Your desire for rest, for safety under the Lord's care, and for His peace to fill your life and your workplace is beautiful and it is exactly what God wants to give His children.
Scripture promises that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. This is not the passing calm the world offers, but the deep peace of God that passes all understanding. To know that peace in your heart, you must first have peace with God, and that peace has been made through the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. When you are no longer at war with God but belong to Him, a wonderful quiet comes into your soul. As you keep your thoughts fixed on Him and trust Him to take care of what concerns you, His peace will guard your heart and mind.
That peace is also your rest. The Bible speaks of the shepherd who at night lies down in the opening of the sheepfold made of thorns. He himself becomes the door, so no sheep can wander out and no wolf can come in except over him. In the same way the Lord Himself is your door and your covering. To be hidden under His wings, as you prayed, is to be sheltered in that safe place where He watches over you. When Jacob lay down exhausted and slept, he dreamed of a ladder set on the earth reaching to heaven, with the Lord standing above it and the angels of God ascending and descending on it. It was a picture that heaven is open to those who trust Him and that His messengers are sent to watch and to minister. Through Jesus that access is yours continually.
We also remember how God can give deep sleep to His people and keep them safe even when enemies are near. He is able to quiet your heart and your surroundings so you can rest soundly, and He is able to ordain peace for you in the day as well.
So we join you in prayer.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one before Your throne of grace. Thank You that through the blood of Christ we have peace with You. Now we ask for the peace of God to fill this heart. Help this one to keep the mind stayed on You and to trust You fully. Grant quiet and deep rest in sleep, and let Your presence be felt as a safe shelter under Your wings. Send Your angelic protection according to Your promise, and let Your love be known in a personal way.
We pray for calm and for Your favor in the workplace. As Jesus grew in wisdom and in favor with God and with man, so we ask that You would grant favor with those in authority and with colleagues. Make this one a peacemaker who sows peace and reaps a harvest of righteousness, and who walks as one blessed by You in order to be a blessing to others. Encourage this heart today with the assurance that Your thoughts toward Your children are thoughts of peace and that You have not forgotten them. You hear when we call upon You and pray to You.
We trust You to keep Your child in Your perfect peace and to work all things for good. Amen.
May the Lord encourage you as you look to Him. Keep your eyes on Him, and His rest and His protection will be with you wherever you are.
