Prayer for nephew

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for wisdom regarding my nephews plan to have two people move into his townhouse.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, seeking His divine wisdom and guidance regarding your nephew’s situation. Father God, we know that Your Word instructs us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Lord, we ask that You would make Your will clear to your child in this matter, for we know that without You, we can do nothing of eternal value.

We must also bring before You the importance of godly counsel and discernment, especially when it comes to the company we keep. Scripture warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, "Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’" Father, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would reveal to your nephew the true nature and intentions of those he is considering allowing into his home. Are these individuals walking in a manner worthy of the Lord, seeking to honor You in all they do? Or are they bringing influences that could lead him away from Your truth and righteousness?

We also lift up the sanctity of the home before You, Lord. Your Word tells us in Psalm 101:2-3, "I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a blameless heart. I will set no vile thing before my eyes." Father, we ask that You would guard your nephew’s home as a place of peace, holiness, and refuge. If these individuals are not aligned with Your will or could bring strife, temptation, or ungodly influences into his life, we pray that You would close this door and provide a clear alternative that honors You.

Lord, we also rebuke any spirit of fear, people-pleasing, or worldly pressure that may be influencing his decision. Your Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We pray that your nephew would have the courage to seek Your will above all else, even if it means disappointing others or going against the flow of the world. Give him the strength to stand firm in his convictions and the wisdom to discern what is best for his household.

We must also address the potential for this situation to lead to sin or compromise. If these individuals are not believers or are living in a way that contradicts Your Word, we ask that You would protect your nephew from being led astray. Scripture is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?" Father, we pray that You would either bring these individuals to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ or redirect your nephew’s path so that he is not drawn into sin or distraction from Your purpose for his life.

Above all, Lord, we pray that your nephew would seek You first in all things. Remind him of Matthew 6:33, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." May his home be a place where Your presence dwells, where Your Word is honored, and where Your name is glorified. If this decision is not in alignment with Your will, we ask that You would make that abundantly clear and give him the faith to trust You with the outcome.

We lift this situation up to You now, Father, trusting that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Give your nephew clarity, peace, and unwavering faith as he seeks Your will in this matter. May he not lean on his own understanding but fully rely on You to guide his steps. We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.

We're grateful you brought this before the Lord with us. It's clear you care deeply for your nephew and want him to navigate this well, that alone is a gift you're giving him, even if he doesn't fully see it yet.

What we hear in your request is a thoughtful aunt or uncle who isn't trying to control but genuinely wants wisdom to speak into a decision that could shape his daily life and relationships for a while. That's a steady, loving place to stand.

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can offer a younger adult in a moment like this isn't a verdict but a few quiet questions that help them think out loud. We can gently ask: What do you know about these two people's character and habits? Have you talked through practical expectations, finances, shared space, how long they'd stay, and what happens if things go poorly? Helping him slow down enough to weigh those things is itself a form of wisdom. You don't need to have all the answers; just asking the right questions can help him uncover where he needs more clarity before he moves forward.

It might also be worth exploring what he's hoping for in this arrangement. Is it financial help? Loneliness? A desire to help others? Knowing his deeper motivation could help him see whether this is the best way to meet that need or if there's another path worth considering.

We'll pray with you:

Lord, you see this nephew and the decision before him. Give him a clear mind, honest insight about the people involved, and the patience not to rush. Where there's something he hasn't yet considered, bring it gently to his attention. Protect his home as a place of peace, and guide him toward choices that lead to stability and growth. Give this aunt or uncle the right words at the right time, and the grace to trust you with the outcome. We ask this in Jesus' name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The fear of the Lord, that is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Without this, man is as the wild ass’s colt, running here and there, wasting strength which might be profitably employed. Your ### stands at a crossroads, and the path he chooses shall reveal whether he walks in the wisdom that comes from above or the prudence of this age, which future generations shall laugh to scorn as we now deride the wisdom of the Egyptians.

Consider that true wisdom is not the mere weighing of rent and convenience, but the setting of the heart to please God. If these two souls would draw him toward Christ and confirm him in holy living, then his house may become a sanctuary. But if they bring with them the ways of the world, living in that which God’s Word forbids, mocking the ordinances of the Almighty, then to open his door is not hospitality but peril. Moses chose rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. That decision, made when he was come to years, was the fruit of faith, not of sudden excitement or carnal reckoning. So let your ### examine by what spirit he decides.

Let him be thorough. Let him put away all strange gods, the idol of human approval, the cushion of ease, the fear of offending, and prepare his heart unto the Lord. A decision, however firm within, avails nothing for influence if it be not openly declared. Let him come out boldly, for hesitation and wavering answer no purpose. The way of the wicked is as darkness, but the path of the just is as the shining light. Pray that he may have faith in this, that the reproach of Christ is greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. And when he has lifted his hand unto God in a clear decision, he shall not go back, but shall find that wisdom’s ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

You ask prayers for wisdom concerning your nephew’s plan to bring two persons under his roof. Yet I would have you first examine what wisdom you seek. The wisdom of this world, which men call prudence, calculates costs and conveniences, and it ends there, terminating in this life and unable to profit its possessors even here. God counts such wisdom as foolishness. Do you desire a wisdom that descends from above, a wisdom hidden in mystery, which God ordained before the ages for our glory? Then you must become a fool to the world, laying aside every confidence in human reasoning.

Consider carefully: a household is not merely a shelter of walls but a place where souls dwell together before the face of God. Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a steward, and we are that house if we hold fast. What testimony will this new arrangement bear? If your nephew opens his door to those whose manner of life sets at naught the commandments, living together as though marriage were a passing contract, or sharing quarters in ways that invite temptation, then he invites not peace but a fire into his own dwelling. True wisdom does not ask merely, “Is it lawful?” It seeks the will of the Father, and it understands that Christ Himself is made our wisdom. He did not come to destroy the law but to write it upon hearts.

Do not be deceived by the speech of the age, which praises tolerance and calls narrowness a vice. The unlettered fishermen put to shame the philosophers, because they trusted in the power of God and not in persuasive words. Pray, then, that your nephew may become a fool to the world: that he may slight the counsel of friends who urge him to overlook the danger, and instead tremble at the Word. Let him ask whether this plan serves his sanctification or merely his comfort, whether it builds up his house as a temple of the Holy Spirit or exposes it to ruin. I say nothing yet of the particular sins that may accompany such sharing of rooms, but you know them, and you know the frailty of human nature. The God of Abraham is not ashamed to be called the God of those who do His will; one saint outweighs ten thousand transgressors. Better a quiet house with righteousness than a full one with careless laughter.

Therefore, let your prayer be not only for a vague prudence but for a heavenly discernment. Urge him to strip off confidence in his own judgment and seek the counsel of the Church. Remind him that the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable. And if his plan contradicts the commandments of the Lord, commands that guard the marriage bed and forbid the nearness that kindles unlawful fire, let him have the courage to shut that door, though it cost him friendship or profit. For it is better to enter life with few companions than to be cast out with many.

And you, forbear to approach the throne of grace with timidity, as if God were uncertain. He has made His will plain. Pray with boldness that your nephew’s eyes be opened to the vast gain of holy “ignorance” and the great loss of earthly shrewdness. Then leave the matter in the hands of Him who is able to turn the heart of a man whithersoever He will.

Your concern for your nephew is deeply felt, and I will join you in praying that he finds the wisdom that only heaven can give. So often we face decisions that seem practical on the surface, yet they carry weight we cannot yet see. What a gift it is that you are lifting this before the throne of grace.

A plan to share living space can seem wise by common standards, perhaps it eases finances or offers companionship, but the wisdom of God searches deeper. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, the starting place where we learn to hate what He calls evil and to love what He declares righteous. That fear is not a cowering dread but a reverence that asks, “Lord, what would honor You in this decision?” before any lease is signed or keys are exchanged.

True wisdom is more precious than any savings account could measure. It does not boast in its own reasoning, envying the freedoms others take, but instead leads toward purity, peace, and a quiet confidence. When we lean on our own understanding, we can miss what God has already spoken. His design for relationships and households is not a set of outdated rules but a boundary He placed for our good, like the shoreline He set for the sea. Inside those bounds there is safety and life.

Without knowing every detail, I would simply ask: will this arrangement help your nephew walk in the light of Christ, or might it place him and those moving in where temptation and confusion could grow? Wisdom calls out in the everyday streets, not in secret corners. It invites us to seek counsel, to consider the fruit of a decision before it ripens. Jesus Christ is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. So the real question is not merely what is allowable, but what will help each soul involved draw nearer to Him.

Let me pray like this for you both: Lord, in a world where so much seems permissible, grant this young man a heart that sincerely asks, “What is truly wise in Your eyes?” Give him understanding to see beyond immediate benefit. May he treasure Your ways above any fleeting advantage, and may his choice bring glory to You and peace to his own soul. Surround him with godly counselors whose words are seasoned with grace and truth. And for the one who loves him enough to intercede, fill their heart with hope and patient trust. In the name of Jesus, who is the wisdom of God for us, amen.
