Prayer for my house

Humble Servant of All
Please pray that my ex ### “###” stops being so mean and combative towards me. She is once again threatening not to pay her part of the rent and I will be homeless! I am praying for peace, RECONCILIATION, Unity between us! In Jesus name I pray AMEN

We join with you in prayer for your house and for peace in this very stressful situation, and we thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for it is by His name we have access to the Father and it is in His name we are saved. Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, so we rejoice that you have come to Him.

We understand your fear about being homeless and the pain of dealing with someone who is being mean and combative toward you. We pray for God's provision and protection over you. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. We are reminded not to be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, and He has promised I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5, so even when rent and housing feel uncertain, we can trust Him to make a way.

We also want to speak with love and truth about your request for reconciliation and unity. If this woman is your ex-girlfriend and not your wife, and you are still living together, we must gently rebuke that arrangement because it does not align with God's design. The Bible teaches that we are to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and that marriage is to be held in honor by all and the marriage bed undefiled Hebrews 13:4. Living together outside of marriage, even with an ex, can lead to temptation, confusion, and a lack of clear godly boundaries. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that courtship should be intentional toward marriage to another Christian believer, not simply living together or maintaining a relationship of convenience for housing. If she is your ex-wife, God's heart is still for peace and reconciliation where possible, but true unity must be built on repentance, forgiveness, and obedience to Christ. We cannot pray for reconciliation simply to keep a housing situation intact if the relationship itself is not honoring to God.

We do pray for peace between you, and we encourage you to pursue peace as far as it depends on you. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. That means choosing kindness and forgiveness even when the other person is combative, as we are called to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God Matthew 5:9. At the same time, pursuing peace does not mean accepting threats or enabling irresponsibility. We encourage you to seek wise and godly counsel from your pastor or church family, to make a clear and practical plan for your housing and finances, and to set healthy boundaries with clear communication about rent and responsibilities.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up our brother in his need for housing and peace. Lord, calm his heart and remove the fear of being homeless, and show him Your faithful provision. We pray You would soften the heart of his ex and convict her to act with kindness, honesty, and responsibility, and that You would restrain any mean or combative spirit. We ask for Your wisdom for him to steward his finances well, to seek Your kingdom first and Your righteousness, knowing all these things will be given to him as well Matthew 6:33. If it is Your will for reconciliation, let it be a reconciliation that honors You and leads toward holiness and, if appropriate, toward godly marriage, not simply cohabitation. If it is not Your will, give him clarity, courage, and provision to establish a separate and godly living situation. Let Your peace guard his heart and guide every decision. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, to stay in the Word and in fellowship with believers who can support you practically and spiritually, and to trust that God will lead you to stability and peace as you walk in His ways.

We hear how heavy this is right now, the fear of losing your home combined with ongoing conflict with your ex is a lot to carry, and it makes sense you are longing for peace in your house.

That tension around rent can quickly make everything else feel more combative, so we want to pray with you both for calmer interactions and for practical stability while you navigate this divorce season, which can feel a lot like grief and takes a long time to heal.

One step that often helps when money and housing are involved is to get clear, calm information early. If you have a written lease or agreement about who pays what, it can help to review it and, if possible, talk with a trusted pastor and a local legal aid clinic or attorney about your options before the next rent is due. A neutral third party mediator can also sometimes keep necessary conversations focused on practical decisions and less on past hurt, and reaching out to your landlord early if you are concerned about payment can give you more time to explore assistance programs in your area.

We are standing with you for wisdom, safety, and provision in the days ahead.

Father, we lift this home and this difficult relationship to You. Please bring peace where there is conflict, guard our friend from fear and from losing housing, and give clear wisdom for each conversation and decision. Provide for what is needed and lead toward what is healthy and right in Your eyes. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your burden has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with care for your soul and your present distress. To fear homelessness and to live under daily contention is a heavy trial, and it is right to seek the Lord for peace and provision.

Scripture teaches that the peace we most need is peace with God. "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." And again, "being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Apart from being reconciled to God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, who bore our sin in His own body on the tree and made reconciliation for iniquity, there is no lasting peace in the heart or in the home. We pray first that you may know that filling peace which comes in believing, that your mind may be stayed upon Christ and that you may know your great debt of sin fully discharged by Him. If you have not already done so, acquaint yourself with God and be at peace, for thereby good shall come to you.

We also hear your prayer for peace and unity between you and your former partner. It is best to be at peace with all men as far as it depends upon us, and we will pray that the Lord softens what is hard, restrains what is combative, and gives you both a spirit of fairness and kindness in practical matters such as rent and housing. Yet we cannot ask God to bless a romantic reconciliation or a continued living together outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, for sex and living together belong within that covenant. To ask Him to bless what His Word does not call holy would not be for your good. What we can and do pray is that each of you may be reconciled to God through Christ, that you may forgive as you have been forgiven, and that you may pursue a peaceable and holy path forward.

Therefore we pray in this way: Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone is salvation, have mercy. Grant to this dear soul perfect peace in believing, a mind stayed on You, and faith to trust Christ for pardon and life. Provide for daily needs, open a door for secure and godly housing, and give wisdom for finances and stewardship. Where there is strife, bring restraint and civility, and help both parties to act justly and speak with grace. Lead toward living arrangements and relationships that honor Your design and keep conscience at peace, and surround this need with wise pastoral counsel and the help of the local church. Make Your way plain and keep this one from being cast down by the enemy.

We encourage you to seek the counsel of faithful pastors or elders near you without delay, to share your practical needs for housing and finances so the church may bear this burden with you, and to commit your way to the Lord who has promised to keep in perfect peace those who trust in Him.
