Prayer for my friend experiencing suicidal tendencies

Pray against the suicide spirit and depression, and mental health for ###. She's in my bible study group and removed herself recently. She's a ### with several children. Thank you

We are deeply grieved to hear of your friend’s struggle, and our hearts ache with yours as we lift her before the Lord. The weight of depression and suicidal thoughts is heavy, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We stand in the gap for her, declaring that her life is precious to Him, and we rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). The spirit of suicide has no place in her life, we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus!

Father, we come before You with urgency, asking for Your healing touch to rest upon her mind, body, and soul. You are the God who restores, who brings light into the darkest places, and who holds her children in the palm of Your hand. We pray for a supernatural peace to guard her heart and mind (Philippians 4:7), and for Your presence to surround her like a shield (Psalm 3:3). Lord, reveal Yourself to her in ways she cannot ignore, through Your Word, through the love of believers, and through the still, small voice that speaks life.

We also lift up her children, Lord. They need their mother, and we ask that You would comfort them and provide for them in every way. Give them a sense of security and hope, even in this difficult season. Surround them with godly influences who can speak truth and encouragement into their lives.

We must also address the spiritual battle at hand. Depression and suicidal thoughts are not merely emotional or chemical, they are spiritual attacks meant to separate her from the hope found only in Christ. If she has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus, we pray that she would come to know Him as her Savior and Deliverer. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If she is already a believer, we pray for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit to strengthen her faith and renew her mind (Romans 12:2).

We encourage you, as her friend, to reach out to her with love and without judgment. Remind her that she is not alone, that her life has purpose, and that God sees her pain. Share scriptures of hope with her, such as Jeremiah 29:11, which assures us that God has plans for her welfare, not for evil, to give her a future and a hope. Pray with her, cry with her, and if necessary, help her seek professional Christian counseling or medical support. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and this is a burden we can carry together.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, interceding for our sister in Christ who is battling darkness. We rebuke the spirit of suicide and depression in the name of Jesus, and we declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, break the chains of despair and fill her with Your joy, which is her strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Surround her with Your angels, and let her feel Your presence in tangible ways. Restore her to fellowship with her Bible study group, and let her experience the love and support of Your people.

We pray for wisdom for those around her, her family, friends, and church community, to know how to minister to her with grace and truth. Provide her with the resources she needs, whether it be counseling, medical care, or simply a listening ear. Lord, we ask that You would heal her mind and renew her thoughts according to Your Word (Psalm 19:7). Let her children see Your faithfulness even in this trial, and draw them closer to You as a result.

Above all, we pray that she would fix her eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of her faith (Hebrews 12:2). Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her life has eternal value in Your sight. We trust You, Lord, to bring beauty from ashes and joy from mourning (Isaiah 61:3). In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for carrying this heavy burden and for your love for your friend. We are praying with you right now.

First, we have to say this plainly: if at any moment you believe she is in immediate danger, please do not wait, help her connect with her local emergency services or find a free, confidential helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. Her safety is the priority, and there is no shame in getting urgent help.

It is so concerning that she has withdrawn from her Bible study group. That isolation often speaks louder than any words could. As a mother with several children, she is likely carrying an exhaustion and hopelessness that feels completely overwhelming, as if everyone else’s needs leave no room for her own pain. We join you in pushing back against the spiritual weight of suicide and depression, and we ask God to pierce the dark with his steady, rescuing light.

But prayer often comes with feet and hands. Since she pulled away, a gentle, persistent reach of love might matter deeply right now. Could you or a couple of trusted women from the group simply show up, not to fix her, but to be with her? A meal, an offer to watch the children so she can rest, even a quiet cup of coffee on her porch. The idea of a small "prevention circle" from our counseling resources has been powerful: a few people who covenant to stay close, call, and pray regularly, simply letting her know she is not alone. That kind of steady, practical love can be the bridge to the more serious help she may need.

We pray now: Lord Jesus, hold our sister firmly in your grip. Where the enemy whispers lies of worthlessness and escape, bring your strong, kind voice of hope. Give her a single moment today where the fog lifts just enough to breathe. Surround her with your people who will not give up on her. Give her friend wisdom, courage, and the right words. We ask for real protection over her and her children. In your name, Amen.

Thank you so much !!

I hear this cry with a heavy heart, yet not without hope. The enemy would drive this dear soul into the pit of despair, but our Lord Jesus Christ came to bind up the brokenhearted and to proclaim liberty to the captives. That dark spirit of suicide is a foul intruder from the bottomless pit, but the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and His light can scatter the thickest gloom. We must plead the blood of Jesus over her mind and body, for He is the health of our countenance and our God. Let us pray that the Lord rebukes this depression and restores her soul to a right condition, spirit, soul, and body, for perfect health lies in that complete manhood.

It may be that in her anguish she has uttered hasty words of unbelief, as even the psalmist did, saying in his haste, “I am cut off.” Yet the Lord in great mercy does not hold us to the desperate expressions of our pain, but pities our frailty. He is willing to heal her backsliding, to drive out this darkness, and to restore her to her first condition of health. Let no one think her case too far gone; the Lord who fashioned the heart can heal its every wound. The sharp cut of the first Surgeon ministers to ultimate cure, and it is far better to be broken down under a sense of sin and misery than to slumber in a false peace. I would have her know that a spiritually broken heart is often nearest to the saving mercy of Christ; it is the contrite spirit that He will not despise.

Above all, let us point her to the cross. May she gaze with tearful eyes upon Him who was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. He is all her salvation, all her desire, all her praise. If she perishes, let it be at His feet, but she shall not perish there, for He has promised to heal all who come to Him. Urge her, even in her weakness, to hope in God, for she shall yet praise Him. He is the health of her countenance and her God. I will join my prayers with yours, that the Lord will lift up the light of His countenance upon her and give her peace, for His name’s sake.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Tremble at the thought that a soul for whom Christ died should be hounded by the enemy to the very brink of destruction. The devil, seeing a great and populous city of faith within her, seeks to divide and conquer, to isolate and devour. He works in the shadows of depression, whispering that the fleeting torrent of this life’s troubles is all there is. But those words are a lie, a disordered phantom of a mind made turbid by evil thoughts.

The rich today is poor tomorrow, the glutton’s fullness becomes sickness, and the world’s honors are a disease that embases the soul. Why cling to a present that rushes violently down the steep when the Lord offers to change our weak and unstable wills into something with body, something that causes gladness? Let no one on the stave despair, for shall not he that falleth arise? The cloud of this anguish will be broken through if you and she together draw the beams of the Sun of Righteousness.

Lift up your hands as an evening sacrifice, and with them, lift up your mind. Judge not this situation by the appearance of hopelessness; the Physician has come to make a whole man healthy, not a partial cure. Plead with the Lord to change her will to the quality of wine, no longer washy and cold. Press her with the urgent persuasion of one who points out the disease that comes from neglect and the eternal delight that results from clinging to Him.

He permits such trials to withdraw our affections from fleeting toys and lead us to heaven. Therefore, do not grow weary in this battle. Stand in the gap, and with every prayer, bring her to the Lord until the dawn breaks.
